Objectives : The purpose of this study is 1) to explore the general tendency of the herbs or herbal formula for acne treatment in clinical practice 2) and to provide a basis for explaining the principles of acne treatment in Korean Medicine in order to make patients understand more easily based on pharmacological mechanism by analyzing the herbs or herbal formula using for acne treatment in clinical practice. Methods : In the domestic databases (Oriental medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System-OASIS, Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal-KTKP, National Discovery for Science Leader-NDSL, Research Information Sharing Service-RISS), we selected among the papers published using search terms related to "acne". Reports related to sasang constitutional medicine were excluded and a total of 23 papers were finally selected. Results : 29 prescriptions were retrieved from 23 papers. Chungan-tang (淸顔湯) notified formulas ranked first by Cheongsangbangpung- tang (淸上防風湯), Hwangnyeonhaedok-tang (黃連解毒湯), Dangguijakyaksan (當歸芍藥散) and Bipachungpe-eum (枇杷淸肺飮). Commonly used herbs are Forsythiae Fructus (連翹), Scutellariae Radix (黃芩), Gardeniae Fructus (梔子), Ligustici Rhizoma (川芎), and Angelicae Gigantis Radix (當歸). In most patients with inflammatory lesions or excessive flushing, exterior-releasing medicinal (解表藥) and heat-clearing medicinal (淸熱藥) were mainly prescribed for acne treatment, while in patients with acne accompanied hyperkeratinization, Excess sebum secretion, Dysmenorrhea or indigestion, qi-tonifying medicinal (補氣藥) or blood-tonifying medicinal (補血藥) were mainly used. KAGS (Korean Acne Grading System) was the most commonly used method for acne severity assessment. Conclusions : These findings suggest that the herbs or herbal formula for acne treatment in Korean Medicine is prescribed differently according to the cause and symptoms of acne in a unique way for control the whole body balance. Also, our findings could provide a basis for explaining the principles of acne treatment in Korean Medicine in order to make patients understand more easily based on pharmacological mechanism in clinical practice.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to analyze the use of herbal medicine for the treatment of urticaria in case studies and to find the general tendency of herbal medicine treatment and to establish the primary treatment direction of urticaria. Methods : In the domestic databases, Oriental medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS), Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal (KTKP), National Discovery for Science Leader (NDSL), Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), we selected among the case study papers published in the last 20 years using search terms related to "urticaria". Reports related to Sasang Constitutional medicine were excluded and total of 15 papers were finally selected. Results : 23 prescriptions were retrieved from 15 papers. The most commonly used prescription was Seungmagalgeun-tang (升麻葛根湯), and Bangpoongtongsung-san (防風通聖散) and Pyeongwi-san (平胃散) were presented twice. Commonly used herbs are Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma (甘草), Zingiberis Rhizoma Recens (生薑), and Scutellariae Radix (黃芩). 18 out of 78 herbs are belonging to heat-clearing medicinal (淸熱藥) and 16 out of 78 herbs are belonging to exterior-releasing medicinal (解表藥). Concurrent therapies such as acupuncture, pharmacoacupuncture, moxibustion, cupping therapy, ice pack applying therapy were performed and several evaluation methods were used, patient's subjective remission rate was the most used. Conclusions : Through this study, we were able to discover the tendency of herbal medicine prescription for the treatment of urticaria.

Objective: Standard cancer therapy prolongs survival, but can be detrimental to the quality of life, compromise the immune system, and leave residual disease that can cause recurrence years or decades in the future. Tumor dormancy therapy is a novel therapeutic approach that may improve these shortcomings, promote quality of life, and prolong survival. The aim of this study was to analyze studies on dormancy therapy, especially studies using traditional Oriental herbal medicine, so as to evaluate the efficacy of dormancy therapy with traditional oriental herbal medicine. Methods: We conducted a systematic literature review using Scientific and Technical Information Integration Services (NDSL), PubMed, and RISS. We searched for clinical reports, papers, and books related to tumor metastasis, recurrence, immunotherapy, tumor dormancy, and traditional oriental herbal medicine with anticancer effects. Seventy-nine (79) experimental and clinical articles in both Korean and English were reviewed. This study was conducted from March 1, 2012 to May 31, 2012. Results: This approach, Tumor dormancy therapy, rather than seeking to remove the tumor, includes combination of low-dose chemotherapy, immunotherapy, immunosurveillance, and other methods to stabilize tumor growth and to enhance the host is immunity against disseminated tumor cells and thus to manage cancer as a chronic disease while maintaining quality of life. In particular, integrative use of Oriental herbal medicine has been shown to induce or maintain tumor dormancy, increase the effectiveness of conventional chemotherapy, improve quality of life, and prolong survival. Conclusion: Tumor dormancy therapy is a promising novel therapeutic approach that may be especially effective with Oriental herbal medicine. Further research is needed to determine its potential mechanisms and therapeutic applications.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to investigate the recent Korean medicine treatment and study trends of tic disorder by reviewing clinical studies. Methods The clinical studies of Korean medicine treatment for tic disorder were obtained from National Discovery for Science Leader (NDSL), Research Information Sharing Service (RISS), Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal (KTKP) and Oriental Medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System (OASIS). Results 15 articles were analyzed to find out the most commonly used herbal medicine, acupoints, other Korean medicine treatments and evaluation methods. Conclusions This study shows some common Korean medicine treatment methods for tic disorder which can be used for further research.

Objectives : To address most probable and suitable method for designing clinical trial intervening Traditional Korean Herbal Medicine on hwa-byung. Study Design : A systematic review of research studies of complementary and/or alternative medical(CAM) treatment of depression, and of domestic clinical trials of Traditional Korean Medicine, and of Chinese clinical trials of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Methods : Randomized, controlled trials(RCTs) of treatment of depression intervening herbal medicine were searched through MEDLINE, Cochrane Library, and CNKI databases. Also, domestic RCTs intervening Traditional Korean Herbal Medicine were searched through Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal and Korean studies Information Service System(KISS). Studies were evaluated using Iadad scale and self-designed tool for this study. Results : Thirty four RCT studies( 10 from MEDLINE, 16 from CNKI, 8 domestic studies) of herbal medicine met inclusion criteria. Mean Jadad score of studies published in English was 2.8${\pm}$0.79, in Chinese 1.94${\pm}$0.77, and in Korean 2.75${\pm}$0.71. Twenty one percent of studies included pattern differentiation in their inclusion criteria. Twenty nine percent of studies used combined treatment of herbal and conventional medicine. Among studies on depression, 9% included Complementary Medical assessing tools. Conclusions : There is shortage of domestic clinical trial involving herbal medicine. In China, studies tend to focus on investigating effect of Combined treatment of herbal and conventional medicine on depression. Clinical trial(s) of hwa-byung should provide good internal validity by describing methodology for randomization, double-blinding, and attrition. Also, specific guideline for clinical trial, including Traditional Korean Medical aspects across inclusion criteria, and assessing tools is needed.

We propose a mash-up system for searching herb, which can search the herbal information in oriental medicine fields using the various Open APIs. We in particular developed and opened two Open APIs which enable to search papers and projects in oriental medicine fields with the general Open APIs. These Open APIs can share and provide the expert knowledge in oriental medicine fields. The information for a herb in oriental medicine fields has various names and descriptions according to their sources unlike other fields. Thus, it is hard to get the results using one or two keywords such as the general search engines. To solve this problem, we in this paper propose a way to provide the more exact and extensive search results using the herb ontology with one hundred herbal information in oriental medicine fields.

Objectives : The main objective of this study is to classify herbal components to 4 groups which are similar to Gunsinjwasa grades by using herbal composition ratio of prescription. Another objective is to design the searching system which compares prescriptions and improves efficiency with 4 groups like Gunsinjwasa grades. Methods : This study was proceeded with Acess 2007 on Microsoft Windows 7 and we created composition ratio based on weight by using prescriptions of Donguibogam, Uihagipmun and Banghakhabpyun. We could make comparison and searching method of prescriptions. Results : We could search using composition ratio degree of herbs which composes prescription. And the similarity comparison of prescription was possible with value from 0 to 10. Conclusions : We could increase the accuracy of the searching prescriptions and comparison with putting into the information about composition degree and composition ratio of herbs which compose a prescription.

Objectives The purpose of this study is to figure out the tendency of the commonly-used-pattern-identification and treatment for Hyperhidrosis by reviewing Korean clinical studies. Methods 18 articles which were published from August, 2004 to December, 2018. were obtained from the National discovery for science leader (NDSL), Research information sharing service (RISS), and Oriental medicine advanced searching integrated system (OASIS) by using keyword 'hyperhidrosis'. Results The most commonly-used-pattern-identification were the patterns with 'Heart' and 'Spleen-stomach'. Hyungbangsabaek-san and Taeeumjowi-tang were the most frequently used herbal medicine. The most common acupoints was LI4. The most common method of assessment was VAS. Conclusions This study identifies the most common pattern identification and treatment for hyperhidrosis. Developing systematic standards of pattern identification and treatment can be possible with further studies.

As the IT technology develops there is a service on internet in which the herbal treatments from medicinal classics can be found in a form of a database. If an assay, and a verification on individual informations on materia medica and the herbal treatments from medicinal classics is established, it would be an enormously efficient asset for the formation of new treatment as well as interpreting the basic information on the efficacy of a treatment. If asp.net is used to make such a system, the user can have access to the informations on materia medica and its treatment without having to setting up a separate system, and especially the user can attain visual information on the genealogy of the herbal treatments in its formation. However, there is a need to develop a more efficient program in terms of organizing the informations on herbs and herbal treatments.

Objectives : The purpose of this study is to investigate the use of herbal medicine for the treatment of atopic dermatitis in cases and to find the general tendency of herbal medicine treatment and to establish the primary treatment direction of Atopic dermatitis. Methods : In the domestic databases, Oriental medicine Advanced Searching Integrated System(OASIS), Korean Traditional Knowledge Portal(KTKP), National Discovery for Science Leader(NDSL), Research Information Sharing Service(RISS), we selected among the papers published in the last 20 years using search terms related to "Atopic dermatitis & Cases". Reports based on Sasang constitutional medicine and Six meridian pattern identification were excluded and a total of 21 papers were finally selected. Results : 113 herbal medicines were retrieved from 21 papers. The most commonly used herbs are Scutellariae Radix(黃芩), Rehmanniae Radix(地黃), and Glycyrrhizae Radix et Rhizoma(甘草). Atractylodis Rhizoma(蒼朮), Akebiae Caulis(木通), Smilacis Rhizoma(土茯?), Paeoniae Radix(芍藥) used mostly when Oozing exists, Trichosanthis Radix (瓜蔞), Asparagi Radix(天門冬), Persicae Semen(桃仁), Carthami Flos(紅花) used mostly when Dryness, Lichenification, and Pigmentation exist. The average score of SCORAD index was improved after Herbal medicine treatment. Conclusion : Through this study, we could find out the tendency of herbal medicine to treat Atopic dermatitis along with Symptoms.
