  • A cytochemical study by the Benedict's reaction method was conducted to find out the cellulase activity in the digestive organs of Helix aspersa. Out of the all digestive organs, the stomach, the intestine, and the digestive gland showed cellulase activities under the transmission electron microscopy.

  • Single chain-monellin (SCM) was recently constructed by fusing the two chains of monellin. From the view of protein folding, SCM serves as an ideal model system especially in tackling ${\alpha}$-helix-${\beta}$-sheet interactions due to the following reasons: First, it consists of simple distinct structural elements (${\alpha}$-helix and ${\beta}$-sheet) which are assembled in a perpendicular manner.(omitted)

  • RNA 분자의 이차구조는 그 분자의 생물학적 기능을 이해하는데 필요한 요소이다. 본 논문은 RNA 이차 구조의 loop과 helix를 그룹화 하여 하나의 객체 단위로 설계한 뒤 필요한 loop과 helix들의 연결구조를 부분 시각화 하는 알고리즘을 소개한다. 기존의 존재하는 시각화 알고리즘들은 정보손실에 해당하는 겹침에 의한 피해를 줄이기 위해 다양한 변형 방법을 이용하였으나 이번 알고리즘은 사용자에 의해 필요로 하는 정보만을 선택해 볼 수 있기에 정보 손실의 문제를 피할 수 있다.

  • The dioxin- or aryl hydrocarbon receptor (AhR) is a member of the Per-Arnt-Sim family of nuclear transcription factors exhibiting a basic helix-loop-helix structure. In its non-ligated state the AhR is associated with hsp 90 and the immunophilin-type XAP2. Upon ligand binding the associated proteins are released, the receptor dimerizes with the AhR nuclear trans locator protein Arnt, and binds to XREs (xenobiotic-responsive elements) in the 5'-flanking region of responsive genes thus modulating their transcription.(omitted)

  • Local conformation of helical peptides in TFE solution are studied by NMR spectroscopy. One is a helix containing proline and the other is its alanine derivative in which alanine is substituted for the proline. Chemical shift and temperature coefficient In NMR spectroscopy can be used preliminarily to determine secondary structure in proteins and peptides.(omitted)

  • Structure of potent derivatives of gaegurin, an antimicrobial peptide from Korean frog, is studied by CD and NMR spectroscopy. Gaegurin did not show any secondary structure in aqueous environment, but adopted ${\alpha}$-helix in aqueous TFE solution, SDS and liposome buffer. NMR study showed distinct difference in stability near proline residue in helix.(omitted)

  • In this study, we obtain the spherical images of minimal curves in the complex space in ℂ4 which are obtained by translating Cartan frame vector fields to the centre of hypersphere, and present their properties such as becoming isotropic cubic, pseudo helix, and spherical involutes. Also, we examine minimal curves which are characterized by a system of differential equations.
