Trends of Stability Indices and Environmental Parameters Derived from the Rawinsonde Data over South Korea

  • In this paper, trends of the widely used stability indices (SIs) and environmental parameters (EPs) were examined by using the 30-year routine rawinsonde data observed in three upper air observatories (Osan, Gwangju and Pohang) over South Korea. To take into account of the contribution of water vapor to a parcel density, we applied the virtual temperature correction in calculating the SIs and EPs. The trends of SIs and EPs indicated significant increases of temperature and moisture contents, especially at the low-to-mid troposphere during the last 10 years. The warming trend in the lower troposphere shows about 3 times greater than that of the global average (+0.10- $+0.20^{\circ}C$/10 years), whereas the cooling trend of lower stratosphere demonstrates a similar trend with the global average (-0.33- $-0.60^{\circ}C$/10 years). The vertical stability is clearly reduced due to the unsymmetrical change of atmospheric elements. The unstabilizing trend with the increased moisture contents gradually changed the atmospheric environment in South Korea into the conditions favorable for the occurrence of severe weather or intensifications of such events. These trends are consistent with the recent observations, which showed clear increase in the intensity and frequency of heavy rainfalls.

보강석축의 안정해석 및 설계 (Stability Analysis and Design of Reinforced Masonry Walls)

  • 석축은 구조 및 시공이 비교적 간단하고, 축조에 주로 사용되는 석재가 철근 및 콘크리트와 같은 일반옹벽 재료에 비해 값이 저렴하다는 등의 장점 때문에 비탈면보호의 목적으로 많이 이용되어 왔으나, 잦은 붕괴사고로 인해 석축의 안정성 자체에 대한 의문제기 및 근본적인 보강방법의 필요성이 계속 요구되어 왔다. 따라서 본 연구에서는, 주변지반에 대한 보강효과 등으로 이미 효율성이 입증된 'soil nailing system'을 이용해, 구조적으로 불안정한 기존의 노후된 일반석축을 보강하거나 또는 신축되는 석축에도 적용 가능한 '보강석축'의 안정해석법을 제시하였다. 특히 문제시 되는 집중호우 등의 기후조건에서 예상되는 간극수압의 영향을 고려하였으며, 설계지침에 관련된 여러가지 변수의 영향을 엄밀히 분석하여 실무에 적용 가능한 설계예 및 설계도표도 아울러 제시하였다.

공동주택단지 내 인공지반 녹지조성 형태에 따른 우수유출 저감효과 (A Study on Runoff Water Reduction Effects According to Shapes of Formation of Artificial Soil Green Area in Multi-Housing Complex)

  • This study aims to analyze, by forming an experimental area of artificial soil green area that is of equal scale and analyzing the characteristics of runoff water in accordance with the cross-section configuration, applied the benefits in an actual multi-housing case study complex. In examining the measurement test results of the runoff water infiltration amount and surface runoff amount of a low-profile type green area(Dish type) and a general type green area(Mound type), Dish type was seen to have 1.5-times higher runoff water infiltration amount than Mound type during heavy rainfalls and showed about a 50% reduction with respect to the surface runoff amount. In other words, artificial soil green area offers the benefit of reduction of surface runoff amount and suggests, in actuality even with a change to the cross-sectional configuration of artificial soil green area alone at the time of construction of multi-housings, the possibility of benefits and reduction of costs spent on existing rainwater management facilities.

강우 시 사면 붕괴 위험도 평가에 관한 제안 (A Proposal for Risk Evaluation Method of Slope Failure due to Rainfalls)

  • A method for predicting surface failures which occur during heavy rainfall on mountain slopes is proposed by using the digital land form model that is obtained by reading altitude on a topographical map at 10m grid point space. A depth of a potential failure layer is assumed at each grid point. In the layer, an infiltrated water movement from cell to cell is modeled in the study (cell is a square of the grid). Infiltrated ground water levels which show the three dimensional effects of a topographical factor in an area can be hourly calculated at every cell by the model. The safety factor of every cell is also calculated every hour by the infinite slope stability analysis method with the obtained infiltrated ground water level. Failure potential delineation is defined here as the time when the safety factor becomes less than unity under the assumptions that effective rainfall is 20mm/h and continues 20 hours.

강릉 남대천 부유입자유기물의 탄소안정동위원소 비와 C/N 비의 시·공간 변동 (Spatial and Temporal Variations of δ13C and C/N in Suspended Particulate Organic Matter in the Gangneung Namdae Stream, Korea)

  • To understand the composition, quantity, and quality of Suspended Particulate Organic Matter (SPOM) in the Gangneung Namdae Stream, Korea, we examined spatiotemporal variations in water temperature, salinity, chlorophlly a (Chl a), Particulate Organic Carbon (POC) and nitrogen (PON), and carbon stable isotope (δ13C) of SPOM at six stations in June (pre-monsoon), July (monsoon), and September (post-monsoon) 2017. With increasing precipitation, the average POC and C/N values increased significantly in July than in June. In September, the values decreased with decreasing precipitation. The δ13C values showed irregular spatiotemporal fluctuations among the stations and periods, thereby suggesting a greater contribution of autochthonous organic matter to the pool of SPOM than that of allochthonous organic matter derived from upstream. In addition, the large and irregular changes in POC, C/N ratio, C:Chl a, and δ13C compared to that of PON were observed for all periods among the stations, indicating a serial discontinuity of the stream. Our results suggest that the Gangneung Namdae Stream is significantly influenced by the increase in freshwater discharge caused by heavy rainfalls during the summer monsoon and post-monsoon periods.

경남지역 산사태 발생지의 강우 및 지형특성분석 (Analysis on Rainfall and Geographical Characteristics of Landslides in Gyeongnam Province)

  • The purpose of this study to analyze landslide-triggering factors using the 38 landslide cases occurred by typhoon, Rusa in 2002, Maemi in 2003 and Ewiniar in 2006 and geospatial characteristics in Hamyang and Geochang County. where two day's heavy rainfall was concentrated on. The rainfalls factors to trigger landslides were accumulative rainfall (>230mm) and rainfall intensity(>30-75mm). The highest landslide frequency was concentrated on the areas of 400-900m in height and on the slopes of $25-40^{\circ}$ in degree. The frequency of landslide was high exceedingly above 80% of a slope attitude, while the frequency is very low below 70%. Granite was more susceptible as much as 9 times than metamorphic rocks. In areas mixed soil with gravels and rock blocks, the frequency of landslide was 73%.

기후변화·기상학적 비전·문학적 상상력 (Climate Change, Meteorological Vision, and Literary Imagination)

  • As extremes of climate such as heavy storms, rainfalls, and droughts tend to be routine in recent years, global climate change becomes a serious concern not only for natural scientists but also for scholars of the human sciences. Efforts to tackle the anthropogenic climate change certainly require not only scientific knowledge about it but also a new sociocultural paradigm for valorizing and respecting nature in its own right. The huge casualties and mass destruction caused by recent climate disasters also remind us that nature has been an important factor to bring about changes in human history-a fact largely ignored in traditional history. This again validates the ecocritical request to prioritize place, physical setting, or the relationship characters hold with the natural world in understanding literary works. In this context this paper aims to demonstrate the importance of the meteorological vision in creating as well as understanding literary and cultural texts by examining such works as Shelley's "The Cloud," Byron's "Darkness," Keats's "To Autumn," all produced during the period of dramatic climate change including "the year without summer." It also briefly discusses Roland Emmerich's 2004 movie The Day after Tomorrow as a way of understanding recent cultural responses to the crisis of global warming.

사면안정을 위한 지중 흡수관의 설계 (Design of Absorption Pipe for Slope Stability)

  • 불포화토에 강우가 지속되면 토체내 간극수압이 상승하게 된다. 따라서 토층의 포화로 인해 강도가 저하되고, Suction압이 균형을 이루는 임계 깊이까지 Wetting Front가 하강하여 사면붕괴가 발생한다. 지중 간극수압을 제어할 수 있다면 강도저감을 방지함으로써 사면안정을 유지할 수 있을 것이다. 본고는 지중 간극수를 흡수하여 배출할 수 있는 흡수관 설계를 시도하여 실험성과로 그 가능성을 제시하였다. 흡수관은 사면안정을 위한 보조공법으로 활용하는 것이 효과적일 것이다.

강우사상과 침수 실측자료를 이용한 도시침수 양상 관계분석 (Analysis of the urban flood pattern using rainfall data and measurement flood data)

  • Urban flooding occurs in the form of internal-water inundation on roads and lowlands due to heavy rainfall. Unlike in the case of rivers, inundation in urban areas there is lacking in research on predicting and warning through measurement data. In order to analyze urban flood patterns and prevent damage, it is necessary to analyze flooding measurement data for various rainfalls. In this study, the pattern of urban flooding caused by rainfall was analyzed by utilizing the urban flooding measuring sensor, which is being test-run in the flood prone zone for urban flooding management. For analysis, 2019 rainfall data, surface water depth data, and water level data of a street inlet (storm water pipeline) were used. The analysis showed that the amount of rainfall that causes flooding in the target area was identified, and the timing of inundation varies depending on the rainfall pattern. The results of the analysis can be used as verification data for the urban inundation limit rainfall under development. In addition, by using rainfall intensity and rainfall patterns that affect the flooding, it can be used as data for establishing rainfall criteria of urban flooding and predicting that may occur in the future.

산사태 위험지도에서 안전등급지역인 오륜터널 일대의 토사유실 원인분석 (Causual Analysis on Soil Loss of Safety Class Oryun Tunnel Area in Landslide Hazard Map)

  • 현재 우리나라는 기후변화로 인해 여름철 집중호우와 국지성 호우가 증가하고 있다. 이에 토사유실 예방에 관한 연구들이 활발하게 이루어지고 있고 산림청에서는 산사태 위험지도를 제공하고 있다. 산사태 위험지도는 9가지의 요소들로 가중치를 주어 5등급화 하여 위험도를 나타낸다. 2014년 8월 25일 부산시 금정구 오륜터널 일대에서 국지성 호우로 인한 토사유실이 발생했으며 산사태위험지도와 비교해 본 결과 실제 토사유실이 발생한 지역은 위험지도상의 안전지대였다. 토사유실이 발생한 오륜터널 일대를 강우량, 토양도, 지질도, 임상도, 경사도, 하계망, 분수령, 유역형상, 유출량을 분석하였다. 분석한 결과 산사태가 발생한 지점의 토양, 임상, 다량의 유출량과 첨두유량, 수계망의 차수, 유역의 형상이 토사유실의 원인요소라고 판단된다. 이 요소 중 산사태 위험지도에서는 고려하지 않은 집중 강우량에 의한 유출량과 첨두유량, 수계망의 차수, 유역의 형상이 산사태의 가장 큰 원인이라고 분석되었다. 기록적인 국지성 호우로 인해 많은 재산피해가 있었던 발생지점 중 하나인 오륜터널 일대의 토사유실원인분석 연구를 통하여 강수량에 의한 유출량, 첨두유량, 유역의 형상이 중요하다고 판단된다. 이 요소들을 산사태 위험지역 판정 시 고려하여 집중호우 시 토사유실에 대비하여야 한다.
