Design and Sensitivity Analysis of Design Factors for Induction Heating System (수치해석을 통한 유도가열 코일의 설계 및 설계인자의 민감도 해석)

  • Rapid and homogeneous heating in heat treatment has been a challenging engineering issue throughout a heating temperature over $1,000^{\circ}C$. Induction heating has been widely used in field of heat treatment compared with conventional heating system. Advantages in homogeneous heating, simple fabrication, and repeatable use can be efficiently made with the induction heater. In this paper, numerical analysis of an induction coil system for heat flux gauge heating is performed. The effect of configuration on the heating performance was considered in various cases of the coil radius, distance between the winding, relative height difference between the heat flux gauge and the coil, and the applied current frequency. Temperature distribution within the heat flux gauge at frequency-steady state was calculated with a finite element method. Sensitivity analysis was also performed and the relative importance of 2 key parameters; coil radius, distance between the winding, were taken as main contributors for induction heating.

  • This study aims to provide the fundamental date of HUANGTO GUDUL for applying to current house heating system. It has been used as a traditional heating system in Korea for a long time and disappeared in the course of industrialization in Korea last a few decades and these days is tend to be widely adopted as house heating system. Even though it is known that the traditional heating system of HUANGTO GUDUL is good for ecological environment house and a kind of the natural friendly heating system for optimum residential heating environment, there are few systematic researches and analysed data of it. In order to analyse the characteristics of HUANGTO GUDUL, the existing materials of it's historical change was studied. And the architectural prospects of the use of GUDUL on the point of view of environmental ecology. The data of relationship between the mechanic properties and the workability of GUDUL materials and the environmental index such as the heating environment, relative humidity, and deodorization ratio and so on. And the heating effectiveness of GUDUL was compared with existing modem materials by experimental analysis. The results stated above can be grafted architecture and will be offered the optimum heating environment.

  • Due to of high intensity, lower noise and easy controllability of the heat, induction heating system became well known. Induction heating method has been suggested as substitute for the gas heat source and adopted in the automation of curved hull forming system. In this study, an investigation was accomplished to find the effects on the change of material properties when the induction heating was applied on the mild steel plate. Plates were heated using weaving method to get sufficiently heat affected zone and then cooled with water or in the air. The mechanical properties of the heated plate were evaluated. As results, the tensile test, impact test and microstructures satisfied the class rule.

  • The line heating methods is very widely employed to correct deformation of thin plate structures. In this study, evaluation was carried out on the temperature distribution of line heating methods using FEA and practical experiments. In FEA, heat input model was established using Tsuji's double Gaussian heat input mode. This model was verified by comparing with experimental data. Thermo elasto-plastic analysis was performed using commercial FE code, MSC/MARC. Transverse shrinkage and angular distortion were measured using 3D measuring apparatus. Based on these results, a simplified analysis method is applied by using equivalent loading method.

  • The corrosion failure analysis for the heating pipeline of apartment was performed. Usually, the heating pipe was layed in the concrete. However, it was known that the corrosion problems could be induced by admixture containing chlorine such as set accelerant. antifreezer and so on. Therefore the new construction method using stone ash instead of concrete was attempt to solve these problems. However water leaking accidents by corrosion occurred after 1 month from the completion of the apartment. In this paper, the reason of corrosion failure was investigated by the field study and laboratory analysis in many aspects.

  • The applications of a transcritical $CO_2$ cycle into water heaters show advantages over conventional systems in the respect of power consumption and heating efficiency because the $CO_2$ cycle has a high compressor discharge temperature. Besides, the heating performance of the transcritical $CO_2$ cycle can be improved by optimizing operating conditions. In this study, the heating performance of a variable speed $CO_2$ heat pump was measured and analyzed by varying refrigerant charge amount, EEV opening, compressor frequency and outdoor temperature. As a result, the optimum normalized charge for heating was 0.226. The COPs at the compressor frequencies of 40, 50 and 60 Hz were 2.94, 2.75 and 2.25, respectively. The heating performance of the $CO_2$ cycle with charge amount was more sensitive than the cooling performance. Moreover, the heating performance was improved significantly by optimizing of compressor frequency and EEV opening.

  • The oxy-fuel combustion heating characteristics is investigated experimentally by measuring furnace and steel temperature variations for batch type furnace simulator with a specially designed low NOx oxy-fuel burner. Economics of using oxy-fuel combustion is confirmed and, the furnace and steel temperature variations for different heating conditions are compared to deduce optimal heating control pattern for energy savings and rapid uniform heating. High $CO_2$ concentration (> 80-90%), low NOx (< 40ppm) and CO (< 10ppm) are measured in the flue gas. Temperature differences (< $30^{circ}C$) inside the furnace and steel are reduced relatively by increasing the burner jet momentum.
