The purpose of this study was to develop a reliable questionnaire to assess the effectiveness of the healthy restaurant program, which was implemented by Seocho-gu District in Seoul. Evaluation indices were deduced from the logic model of the healthy restaurant program. The questionnaires consisted of three sections (process evaluation, outcome evaluation, and general characteristics) for restaurateurs and customers who were participating in the program or not. To validate the questionnaire, 133 restaurateurs and 246 customers were sampled using convenient methods. Data were collected by interviews. Reliability was tested by Cronbach's alpha coefficient. The alpha coefficient for restaurateurs was 0.75-0.99 for the process and 0.79-0.97 for the outcome evaluation questions. The alpha coefficients for customers were 0.76-0.92 for the outcome evaluation questions. Face and content validity were examined for all questions, and construct validity was tested for latent variables. We are confident that more accurate and significant information will be collected using this questionnaire.

Purpose: The purpose of this study was to develop online health promotion an education program for university students and to evaluate its changes. Method: An online health promotion education program was established through analysis, designing, development, implementation and evaluation stages. This was a quasi-experimental, one group pretest-posttest design. The subjects of this study were 97 students in one university, and they were provided the online class for 16 weeks. Data was analyzed by descriptive statistics and paired t-test. Result: The results of program evaluation were positive, which included instruction function 3.94, system construction 4.14, system function 3.90, and overall evaluation 4.03 on the scale of 5. The posttest scores of health promoting lifestyle(t=-2.316, p=0.024) was significantly higher than those of the pretest. Conclusion: This study shows that the online health promotion education program was an effective educational method to improve health promotion lifestyle for the university students.

This study was conducted to evaluate the process & outcome of a Health promotion program(Growing Younger & More Active) for the community resident older adults from March to December, 2001. Method: A quasi experimental research(one group pretest-posttest design) was used in this study. The subjects were 82 older adults(but 40 older adults 4 weeks after the program). Program had 5 sessions(10 hours) once a week. Data were collected before the program, immediately after & 4 weeks after the program and were analyzed with paired t-test. Result: The levels of Satisfaction, Interest & Understanding of the Program were high. Significant differences were found in health knowledge, health promoting behaviors, perceived health status and life satisfaction between before program and immediately after program as well as between before program and 4 weeks after program, but no significant differences in Health attitude. Self efficacy has significant difference only between before program and immediately after program , but no significant differences between before program and 4 weeks after the program. Conclusion: This results suggest that a Health promotion program for the community resident older adults developed this study is effective. So this program can be recommended as an effective nursing intervention for the health promotion of the older adults living in community.
Objectives: This study aimed to develop evaluation criteria for the elementary-school-based health promotion program using the RE-AIM framework and to examine their feasibility. Methods: Previous evaluation studies on health interventions for elementary-school students using the RE-AIM framework were reviewed systematically to identify appropriate evaluation criteria. A diet and physical activity intervention based on the transtheoretical model was implemented in a pilot study using the "Happy Me" application. The feasibility of using the RE-AIM framework to evaluate it was examined. Results: The review yielded the following evaluation criteria: "reach," the ratio of participants out of the total target population; "efficacy/effectiveness," the difference in outcomes between the intervention and control groups, or between a pre- and post-test; "adoption," the rate of use of the program and participation in the next stage of the program; "implementation," the progress on the program components; "maintenance," the participants' and teachers' intention to continue using the program. The pilot study reached 76.6% of the targeted population. The intake of sugar-sweetened beverages decreased (P < 0.0001), and the duration of walking increased (P < 0.0001). Other indicators could not be evaluated; therefore, potential indicators were suggested. Conclusions: This study produced feasible evaluation criteria for elementary-school-based health promotion using the RE-AIM framework. Nevertheless, the feasibility needs to be validated with a broader range of studies and long-term interventions.

Background: A quantitative structure-activity relationship (QSAR) model was adopted in the Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals (REACH, EU) regulations as well as the Act on Registration, Evaluation, etc. of Chemicals (AREC, Republic of Korea). It has been previously used in the registration of chemicals. Objectives: In this study, we investigated the correlation between the predicted data provided by three prediction programs using a QSAR model and actual experimental results (acute fish, daphnia magna toxicity). Through this approach, we aimed to effectively conjecture on the performance and determine the most applicable programs when designating toxic substances through the AREC. Methods: Chemicals that had been registered and evaluated in the Toxic Chemicals Control Act (TCCA, Republic of Korea) were selected for this study. Two prediction programs developed and operated by the U.S. EPA - the Ecological Structure-Activity Relationship (ECOSAR) and Toxicity Estimation Software Tool (T.E.S.T.) models - were utilized along with the TOPKAT (Toxicity Prediction by Komputer Assisted Technology) commercial program. The applicability of these three programs was evaluated according to three parameters: accuracy, sensitivity, and specificity. Results: The prediction analysis on fish and daphnia magna in the three programs showed that the TOPKAT program had better sensitivity than the others. Conclusions: Although the predictive performance of the TOPKAT program when using a single predictive program was found to perform well in toxic substance designation, using a single program involves many restrictions. It is necessary to validate the reliability of predictions by utilizing multiple methods when applying the prediction program to the regulation of chemicals.
Purpose: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the validity of an educational program developed for geriatric visiting nurses in Seoul by assessing their satisfaction level and level of learning goal achievement. Methods: This descriptive research study was conducted to develop, implement, and evaluate the educational program in accordance with the ADDIE Instructional System Model. Participants were 170 nurses hired for the 2016 Seoul Metropolitan Government visiting service for older people. Based on Kirkpatrick's Training Evaluation Model, reaction and learning evaluations were conducted during and after the educational program. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics. Results: The developed educational program consisted of basic and professional courses. The evaluations showed that participants were highly satisfied with the lectures and field placement. Over 90% of the participants achieved the learning achievement goals. Conclusion: The program developed for geriatric visiting nurses in Seoul is considered a valid educational program because of the participants' high levels of satisfaction and academic achievement.
Purpose: This study was done to develop a measurement tool for evaluation of continuing nursing education programs and to verify its validity for effective management and quality of education programs. Methods: The draft of the evaluation measurement was developed from consultation with professionals, focus group interviews targeting groups of nurses, and individual interviews with education program planners. After 6 professionals examined content validity, 46 items were retained. A pilotsurvey was conducted to confirm the time required to complete the questionnaire and the level of understanding of general content and each item in the questionnaire. Construct validity was verified through exploratory factor analysis of data from a survey with 44 items completed by 452 nurses and 59 education program planners. Results: The final evaluation measurement for continuing nursing education programs consisted of 6 evaluation factors and 36 evaluation items. The 6 evaluation factors included identifying program goals and target groups, program planning, performance, operation and management, program outcomes, and program effectiveness. Conclusion: The evaluation measurement for continuing nursing education programs developed in this study is considered suitable to utilize as an evaluation measurement of the quality of continuing education programs for nurses.
Purpose: This study was conducted to provide the fadamental information to prepare better Occupational Health Program for SSI based on the evaluation of the experience of nurse who were working in the Government-funded subsidized occupational health program for SSI. Method: The focus group method was used. Data was collected using focus group interviews and analyzed in the framework of the Grounded theory method as mapped by Strauss and Corbin(1990). The subjects were 14 nurses. Result: We identified 60 concepts, 30sub-categories and 6 categories(Table 1). Categories were Various services, Difficulties in implement Services, Successful strategies, Program Evaluation, Alternative Plans and Adaptation to new field. Conclusion: Nurses evaluated the effect of this program that autonomous health management ability has not changed although the possibility for the small scale industries to start the health management arose by acknowledging the importance of the health management of the workplace. In spite of many difficulties in implement services, nurses provided various health services using successful strategies. They suggest that various programs such as a model set-up suitable for the quality of workplaces and a role model set-up of the occupational health nurse for SSI as well as various efforts for the activated this program were needed. Nurses had a hard time in unfamiliar field when they began this program and overcame this difficulties with various strategies.

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the types of worksite health promotion programs. Method: Data were collected from the excellent 35 cases chosen at the contest for worksite health promotion held by Korea Occupational Safety and Health Agency. Result: Out of all the health promotion programs, the exercise program recorded 35.0%, the nutrition program 29.4%, the smoking cessation program 28.0%, and the alcohol reduction program 7.6%. The major element of worksite health promotion programs were awareness raising intervention. Behavior change intervention and supportive environment intervention occupied a small portion of the health promotion programs. Evaluation of health promotion programs was made mainly by indicators of health behavior change and clinical symptom. Yet economical indicator was not used at all. Conclusion: Use of various evaluation indicator and development of various interventions including behavior change and supply of supportive environment are required to encourage worksite health promotion program.
Background: The Environmental Health Action Program was a national project carried out from 2012~2021. It was aimed at developing public technologies to protect people's health from various environmental hazards. Objectives: One of the final goals of the project was "creating health benefits worth more than 179.2 billion won by reducing the environmental burden of disease." This study aims to evaluate whether the program sufficiently achieved the planned benefits. Methods: In order to secure consistency in evaluation, we applied the same equation used in the goal-setting process. It is comprised of six parameters to estimate the benefit: 1. The amount of medical expenses for environmental diseases; 2. The attributable proportion of environmental risk factors' 3. The rate of reduction in medical expenses for environmental diseases; 4. R&D project contribution; 5. The proportion of successful policy reflection; and 6. The contributions of the project. The corresponding variables were estimated at the end of the project, and the health benefits of the project were recalculated using the newly estimated variables. Results: It was estimated that a total of 195 billion won in health benefits occurred or will occur from 2015 to 2026. The main contributors for achieving the target were an increase in medical expenses for environmental diseases, a high score in the R&D project contribution, and the proportion of successful policy reflection. Conclusions: Technically, the equation used in the project is about medical expenses for environmental diseases rather than about the environmental burden of disease. There are several benefits of using the environmental burden of disease in the evaluation of public health policies. In further studies, developing a policy evaluation framework using indicators such as population attributable fraction would be needed.
