  • Objectives : The aim of this study was to investigate the functional status variables related to the care time of health professionals for patients in long-term care facilities. Methods : The functional stati of 1001 patients in 8 long-term care hospitals were examined by the Resident Assessment Instrument for Long-term Care Facility Version 2.0. The care time of health professionals for patients was calculated using data from a self-reported task survey by nurses, auxiliary nurses, private aides, doctors, physiotherapists and social workers. Results : The average care time per diem was 240.6 minutes. The care time by doctors, nurses and private aides were 11.0, 71.0 and 139.5 minutes, respectively. The lower the function of activities of daily living (ADL) and the greater the symptoms of extensive services, special care and clinical complexity, the more care time was served. On the contrary, the greater the symptoms of nursing rehabilitation, depression, cognitive disorder, behavior problem and psychiatry/mood disorder, the less care time was served. Age and gender were not significantly related to the care time. Conclusions : Developing a case mix classification system for elderly long term care patients may be helpful for both of patients and health care providers. The ADL, extensive services, special care and clinical complexity of variables should be considered in the development of a case mix system for the long term care of patients in Korea.

For health behavior, the factors affecting HRQoL were drinking, sleeping time, and physical activity. For physical health, factors affecting HRQoL were vision problems, eating problems, and hearing problems. For mental health, the factors affecting HRQoL were suicidal impulse, stress, and frustration. • Background: Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers and a major public health problem in developing countries. However, early detection and treatment may be achieved by breast self-examination (BSE). Despite the importance of BSE in reducing the incidence of breast cancer and esultant deaths, the disease continues to be the most common cause of cancer death among women in Iran. This study aimed to determine the effects of self-care education on performance of BSE among women referring to health centers in our country. Materials and Methods: This quasi-experimental interventional study with pretest/posttest control group design was conducted on 168 women referred to health centers. The data were collected using a validated researcher-made questionnaire including demographic variables and trans-theoretical model constructs as well as a checklist assessing BSE behavior. The instruments were administered to groups with and without self-care education before, a week after, and 10 weeks after the intervention. Then, the data were entered into the SPSS statistical software (version 19) and analyzed using independent sample t-tests, paired sample t-test, repeated measures ANOVA, Chi-square, and Friedman tests (p<0.05). Results: The results showed an increase in the intervention group's mean scores of trans-theoretical model constructs (stages of change, self-efficacy, decisional balance, and processes of change) and BSE behavior compared to the control group (p<0.001). Conclusion: The study confirmed the effectiveness of aneducational intervention based ona trans-theoretical model in performing BSE. Therefore, designing educational interventions based on this model is recommended to improve women's health and reduce deaths due to breast cancer.

Method: Q-methodology is used to objectify role awareness of medical institution specialists who may recognize situations differently according to their individual experience and comprehension based on the view of behavior. Q-classification was carried out on 30 home health care specialists working at medical institutions using 30 selected questions. Collected data were examined through factor analysis using QUANL PC program. Results: Three different types of role awareness of home health care specialists working at medical institutions were identified. Type I is 'educational-function-centered', Type II 'patient-centered' and Type III 'professional-service-centered'. • This study is a quasi experimental study to investigate the effects of stroke prevention education program of Oriental Nursing on self-health perception, health behavior change, self-care and physiological index of adults over 55 years old and elderly people. The data were collected from August 12 to November 29, 2017. The 53 study subjects comprised 26 experimental subjects who agreed to participate in the education program and 27 control subjects. In the results, there was no statistically significant difference between the experimental group and the control group in general characteristics and research variables before the program; further, the two groups were homogenous. In the hypothesis test, the change in self-health perceptions of the experimental and control groups was t = -5.28 (p <.001), health behavior change was t = -4.24 (p <.001), self-care was t = -5.28 (p <.05), systolic blood pressure was t = 2.48 (p <.05), diastolic blood pressure was t = 2.78 (p <.05), and cholesterol was t = -3.94 (p <.001). There were statistically significant differences between the two groups and all four hypotheses were supported, which demonstrated the effectiveness of the program. These study results suggest that it is an effective program to change the self-perception of health and health behavior, improve self-care ability, and control the physiological index. It is expected that these findings will be useful in developing a future effective oriental nursing intervention. The education program should be continuously carried out, and the area needs to be expanded.

  • To ensure the autonomy of nursing care aetivies is one of the major and most interesting issues in the field of nursing. The pertaining autonomy demands the nurse to make decisions of her or his own with out interference and free of help from other sides of health care agency. The whole process of autonomous nursing behavior should be judged and conveyed by the nurse only on the basis of the internal factors of her care to solve the problems of the client's disorder in health. Truth of nursing science and relevence of nursing conduct depend on our construction of internal basis and establishment of self-sufficient reference system. The information for efficient decision-making at the scene of nursing can only be supplied by a systematic body of nursing science consisting of true or properly corroborated propositions. The science of nursing can be autonomous when we have framework of explanation, independently of other sciences and the behavior of nursing care can factually be independent of and peculiar to that of other but similar fields only when the science of nursing is correspondently autonomous.

The number of total subjects were 239 students in the care group who were controled incremental oral health care program and 195 students in the control group who were not controled incremental oral health care program. The sealant index was significantly more higher in care group than control group, especially the higher the grade. The sealant rate was significantly higher in care group than control group for all of grade. The DT index was significantly lower in care group than control group for male and female, the caries incidence rate of permanent tooth by gender was lower in male than female. The FT rate was more higher in care group than control group. The dental caries could be prevented very effectively when having continuously treated the incremental oral health care program at school dental clinic among elementary-school students. The author consider that this study will be prepare the fundamental data and contribute to oral health promotion according to a change in oral health behavior among elementary-school students.
