ITER AC/DC Converter Control 검증을 위한 Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation(HILS) System 구축 및 실험 (Implementation and Experiment Result of Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation(HILS) System for The Verification of ITER AC/DC Converter Control)

  • ITER AC/DC Converter의 부하는 초전도 코일이며 이에 필요한 컨버터는 총 6종류(2상한:TF, 4상한:PF, CS, VS, CCU/L, CCS)가 있다. 이중 VS 컨버터(${\pm}1050V$, ${\pm}22.5kA$)는 6대가 직렬로 접속되어 운전되고 CS 컨버터(${\pm}1050V$, ${\pm}4.5kA$)는 4대가 직렬로 접속되어 운전한다. 이들 컨버터용 제어기의 개발 단계에서 실 부하상태를 준비하는 것은 어렵기 때문에 $RTDS^{TM}$ (Real Time Digital Simulator)를 이용하여 제어 대상인 High Power 부분과 초전도 코일의 동적 시스템 모델을 HILS(Hardware-in-the-Loop Simulation)로 구축하였다. 본 논문에서는 HILS 구축에 대한 상세한 내용과 이를 활용하여 Control 시스템을 검증한 결과를 서술하였다.

  • The hardware and the software of the prototype telemtry system to monitor the behavior of the fish are designed. This system consistes of five parts I. e. three omni-directional hydrophones, three ultrasonic receivers, a single board computer for the signal processing, two RF transceivers for the data communication, and a personnel computer. The sensitivty of the hydrophones is -170dB(re 1V/$\mu$Pa), the gain and the 3dB receiving bandwidth of the ultrasonic receivers are 115dB and 1500Hz respectively, and the sampling period is 33.3$\mu$sec in the signal processing part. The positioning error of the system using hyperbolic method is estimated to be less than 0.2m in case that the pinger locates inside of the baselines. The perfomance of the system considering a practical use was examined by numerical simulation and a water tank test of a pinger tracking experiment. In results, the system developed in prototype was confirmed that it could be useful for monitoring the behavior of fish in the limited water area.

  • Response characteristics of the CVT system for a parallel hybrid electric vehicle (HEV) are investigated. From the experiment, CVT ratio control algorithm for the optimal engine operation is obtained. To investigate the effect of the CVT system dynamic characteristics on the HEV performance, a hardware in the loop simulation (HILS) is performed. In the HILS, hardwares of the CVT belt-pulley and hydraulic control valves are used. It is found that the engine performance by the open loop CVT ratio control shows some deviation from the OOL in spite of the RCVs open loop control ability. To improve the engine performance, a closed loop control of the CVT ratio is proposed with variable control gains depending on the shift direction and the CVT speed ratio range by considering the nonlinear characteristics of the RCV and CVT belt-pulley dynamics. The HILS results show that the engine performance is improved by the closed loop control showing the operation trajectory close to the OOL.

USB 인터페이스를 이용한 데이터 전송프로그램 개발 (Development of Data Tansfer Program Using USB Interface)

  • The development of recent computer and communication technology has changed Automation System using communication network, and the new USB substituted with Serial Communication is already developed and now popular. In this paper, High speed data transfer system design using USB interface and communication application simulated for the situation is introduced. Base on USB, we can use additive function efficiently coped with former field device. The 'Winsock Connection USB Ternimal,' designed for hardware simulation, control the field device connected by USB, and provide the way for remote control of field device by Telnet connection through TCP/IP. That theorem can guarantee controlling direct input dta of user, and acuate function of field device using USB Packet Transmission. As a result of amy research, this communication application system identified good operation of field device with those of former field device. Another result of the experiment of hardware operation, we obtained accomplishment that the sufficient bandwidth guarantee of USB has high speed and high performance, and reduce the occupancy of system.

  • In case of off-line character recognition with statistical method, the character recognition speed for Korean or Chinese characters is slow since the amount of calculation is huge. To improve this problem, we seperate the recognition steps into several functional stages and implement them with hardwares for each stage so that all the stages can be processed with pipline structure. In accordance with temporal parallel processing, a high speed character recognition system can be implemented. In this paper, we implement a classification hardware, which is one of the several functional stages, to improve the speed by parallel structure with multiple DSPs(Digital Signal Processors). Also, it is designed to be able to expand DSP boards in parallel to make processing faster as much as we wish. We implement the hardware as an add-on board in IBM-PC, and the result of experiment is that it can process about 47-times and 71-times faster with 2 DSPs and 3 DSPs respectively than the IBM-PC(486D$\times$2-66MHz). The effectiveness is proved by developing a high speed OCR(Optical Character Recognizer).

Probability Constrained Search Range Determination for Fast Motion Estimation

  • In this paper, we propose new adaptive search range motion estimation methods where the search ranges are constrained by the probabilities of motion vector differences and a search point sampling technique is applied to the constrained search ranges. Our new methods are based on our previous work, in which the search ranges were analytically determined by the probabilities. Since the proposed adaptive search range motion estimation methods effectively restrict the search ranges instead of search point sampling patterns, they provide a very flexible and hardware-friendly approach in motion estimation. The proposed methods were evaluated and tested with JM16.2 of the H.264/AVC video coding standard. Experiment results exhibit that with negligible degradation in PSNR, the proposed methods considerably reduce the computational complexity in comparison with the conventional methods. In particular, the combined method provides performance similar to that of the hybrid unsymmetrical-cross multi-hexagon-grid search method and outstanding merits in hardware implementation.

  • This paper describes performance analysis techniques for SSSC using computer simulations with EMPT and experiments with a hardware scaled-model. A switching-level simulation model with EMTP was developed for the SSSC connected in series with the transmission line. The increase of transmission capability and dynamic performance was analyzed with the simulation model. The simulation results were reverified by experimental works with a hardware scaled-model. The developed analysis techniques can be used for designing and evaluating actual system of SSSC.

  • This paper presents a novel application method of H$_{\infty}$ optimization method to the design of Power System Stabilizer(PSS) and experimental results through hardware simulator. The approach is focused on decision of performance index and selection strategy of weighting functions together with its tuning for direct design. As the Purpose of the PSS is to increase system damping at very narrow frequency band, weighting functions are determined differently from the case of general servo system control. The designed PSS was confirmed through experiments on a hardware simulator.

동적변화에 강인한 연료전지 발전시스템의 저주파 리플전류 제거 알고리즘 개발 (Development of Robust Algorithm to Eliminate Low Frequency Current Ripples in Fuel Cell Generation System)

  • This paper presents that generation and propagation mechanism of low frequency current ripples generated by a rectification effect of an inverter in fuel cell generation system is analyzed. The ripple reduction methode using hardware components such as capacitors and inductors is examined to reduce low frequency current ripples. A new fast and robust low frequency current ripple elimination algorithm is then proposed to incorporate a single loop current controller, which directly controls fuel cell current, without any extra hardware. The proposed algorithm can completely eliminate this current ripple as well as an overshoot or undershoot is significantly reduced. And the de link voltage and output current are well regulated by inverter controller. The validity of proposed algorithm is verified both computer simulation using PSIM 6.0 and experiment with a 1kW laboratory prototype.

  • In this paper, we present a way that can implement the vector control Algorithm of induction motor and PWM signal generation on the basis of Matlab Simulink environment. The overall system model is designed by Simulink toolbox for vector control of induction motor, and then implement experiment with the DS1103 board of dSPACE. Although we are not coding the system, it is capable of doing simulation and experiment simultaneously. That is why Matlab and dSPACE board compiler can generate the '*.c' and '*.obj' files on the designed system automatically. After considering about hardware structure and driving system in Ds1103 board we verify the availability of Proposed method through in a comparison/analysis between simulation and experiment.
