Hardware design and control method for controlling an input clock frequency in the application

  • In this paper, the method of controlling the clock that is inputted on the hardware from the application, and the hardware design method are to be proposed. When the hardware is synthesized to the Field Programmable Gate Array(FPGA), the input clock is fixed, and when the input clock is changed, the synthesis process must be passed again to require more time. To solve this problem, the Mixed-Mode Clock Manager(MMCM) module is mounted to control the MMCM module from the application. The controlled MMCM module controls the input clock of the module. The experiment was process the Neural Network algorithm in the x86 CPU and SIMT based processor mounted the FPGA. The results of the experiment, SIMT-based processors, the time that is processed at a frequency of 50MHz was 77ms, 100MHz was 34ms. There was no additional synthesis time due to a change of the clock frequency.

  • The binary image normalization method in image processing can be used in several fields, Especially, its high speed processing method and its hardware implmentation is more useful, A normalization process of each character in character recognition requires a lot of processing time. Therefore, the research was done as a part of high speed process of OCR (optical character reader) implementation as a pipeline structure with host computer in hardware to give temporal parallism. For normalization process, general purpose CPU,MC68000, was used to implement it. As a result of experiment, the normalization speed of the hardware is sufficient to implement high speed OCR which the recognition speed is over 140 characters per second.

  • As the fuzzy control is applied to servo system the hardware implementation of the fuzzy information systems requires the high speed operations, short real time control and the small size systems. The aims of this study is to develop hardware of the fuzzy information systems to be apply to servo system. In this paper, we propose a calculation method of approximate reasoning for fuzzy control based on $\alpha$-level set decomposition of fuzzy sets by quantize $\alpha$-cuts. This method can be easily implemented with analog hardware. The influence of quantization levels of $\alpha$-cuts on output from fuzzy inference engine is investigated. It is concluded that 4 quantization levels give sufficient result for fuzzy control performance of do servo system. It examined useful with experiment for dc servo system.

Development of a Hardware-in-the-loop Simulator for Spacecraft Attitude Control Using Thrusters

  • In this study, a Hardware-In-the-Loop (HIL) simulator using thrusters is developed to validate the spacecraft attitude system. To control the attitude of the simulator, eight cold gas thrusters are aligned with roll, pitch and yaw axis. Also linear actuators are applied to the HIL simulator for automatic mass balancing to compensate the center of mass offset from the center of rotation. The HIL simulator consists of an embedded computer (Onboard PC) for simulator system control, a wireless adapter for wireless network, a rate gyro sensor to measure 3-axis attitude of the simulator, an inclinometer to measure horizontal attitude, and a battery set to supply power for the simulator independently. For the performance test of the HIL simulator, a bang-bang controller and Pulse-Width Pulse-Frequency (PWPF) modulator are evaluated successfully. The maneuver of 68 deg. in yaw axis is tested for the comparison of the both controllers. The settling time of the bang -bang controller is faster than that of the PWPF modulator by six seconds in the experiment. The required fuel of the PWPF modulator is used as much as 51% of bang-bang controller in the experiment. Overall, the HIL simulator is appropriately developed to validate the control algorithms using thrusters.

  • This Paper decribes a monitoring system using Modbus protocol and RS485 interface applied in many industrial field. We developed hardware to receive alanlog sensor output and monitoring program to communicate with hardware and carried out experiment with potentiometer for plan sensor, . Through online communication between Master and Slaves we convinced the usage of this systems. Also plant data file that saved in Excel format is convenient in writing various typs of documents.

  • 본 논문에서는 동맥혈중 이산화탄소 분압을 실시간으로 추정하는 capnograph 시스템에 상용되는 대부분 NDIR 흡수식(non-dispersive infrared absorption) 광챔버와 신호처리회로를 설계 및 구현하였다. 광챔버 설계시 일반 정상인의 capnogram을 주파수 분석하여 적합한 광쵸핑 주파수를 결정한 뒤, 이에 근거하여 시간응답을 고려한 광챔버를 설계하였으며, 열잡음에 대한 영향을 줄이기 위해 2광원 1센서 방식의 $CO_2$ 농도 신호처리회로를 구현하였다. 구현된 광챔버에 대한 가스배출시간을 조사하였으며 신호처리회로를 외부 온도 변화 실험에 적용한 결과 2광원 1센서 방식이 안정된 출력 신호를 얻을 수 있음을 확인하였고, 실제 사람의 호흡에 대한 실험결과 정상적인 capnogram 형태의 $CO_2$ 농도 변화 곡선을 보였다.

  • One of the largest problems for tokamak devices such as Kazakhstan Tokamak for Material Testing (KTM) is the operation scenarios' development and execution. Operation scenarios may be varied often, so a convenient hardware and software solution is required for scenario management and execution. Dozens of diagnostic and control subsystems with numerous configuration settings may be used in an experiment, so it is required to automate the subsystem configuration process to coordinate changes of the related settings and to prevent errors. Most of the diagnostic and control subsystems software at KTM was unified using an extra software layer, describing the hardware abstraction interface. The experiment sequence was described using a command language. The whole infrastructure was brought together by a universal communication protocol supporting various media, including Ethernet and serial links. The operation sequence execution infrastructure was used at KTM to carry out plasma experiments.

  • This paper presents design of active roll controller of a vehicle and experimental study using the electric actuating roll control system. Firstly, parameter sensitivity analysis is performed based on 3DOF linear vehicle model. The controller is designed in the frame work of gain-scheduled H$\infty$ control scheme considering the varying parameters induced by laden and running vehicle condition. In order to investigate a feasibility of an active control system, experimental work is performed using hardware-in-the -loop setup which has been constructed by the devised electric actuating system and the full vehicle model with tire characteristics. The performance is evaluated by experiment using hardware-in-the -loop simulation under the conditions of some steer maneuvers and parameter variations.

  • In this paper , the simple MPPT(Maximum Power Point Tracking) control algorithm is proposed for the grid-connected photovoltaic power system. This method uses the difference in the slope of the solar array voltage range below the MPP and above the MPP. This simple the algorithm enables the hardware implementation achieved by only analog devices. The proposed MPPT algorithm is verified by the hardware experiment using 500[W] solar away simulator, simplified inverter model hardware set, and rectified grid-line.

  • Recently, as the road capacity reaches the limit and environmental problems becomes serious, there is gradually increased a need for railroad vehicles that are environment-friendly and have time regularity, reliability, and safety. Accordingly, in addition to conventional railroad vehicles, lots of vehicles are being newly developed. We developed the hardware and software of the measurement system for on-line test and evaluation of korean high speed train. The software controls the hardware of the measurement system and acts as interface between users and the system hardware. In this paper, practical experiment are performed to verify mechanical performance of motor and main transformer for Korean high speed rail. The experimental test carried out by using new temperature measurement method and verify the temperature performance of motor and transformer is verified.
