We analyzed 0.5-45 keV data of NGC 3227 observed by Suzaku six times between 2008 October 28 and December 2. The count-count plot between the 0.5-3 keV and 3-10 keV bands exhibits a clear break, separating the data into bright and faint phases. Applying the difference spectrum method and time-averaged spectral fits to the phase data, we found the presence of two kinds of variable primary X-rays, (1) a hard primary component with ${\Gamma}{\sim}1.7$ dominating in the faint phase and (2) a soft primary continuum with ${\Gamma}{\sim}2.4$ appearing in the bright phase, both affected by partial absorption. Considering their timing and spectral characteristics, component (1) is presumably identical to a Compton continuum in the low/hard state, while component (2) may correspond to the hard tail emission in the high/soft state, or compact-jet emission. In that case, an accretion ow onto the central super massive black hole in NGC 3227 can be interpreted to include the two different states.
Most of mold manufacturing procedures have been automated by the introduction of NC machine tool and CAD/CAM system. But the three-dimensional surface curvature of the mold must be done by hand work of well-skilled workers. Magnetic abrasive polishing powders were investigated for surface polishing for 3D curvature. This study aims to investigate homogeneously distributed hard phase in Fe matrix and strong bonding between Fe-matrix and hard phase. The NbC powder, $B_4C$ powder and $Al_2O_3$ powder were mixed in Fe-matrix respectively. Mixed Fe-hard phase powders were compacted by press and then these were melted by plasma melting. According to SEM, XRD and OM observation, Fe-NbC magnetic abrsive powder had the most homogeneous distribution and strong bonding. As a result of magnetic polishing, the surface roughness before magnetic polishing, 1 ${\mu}m$$R_{max}$, was reduced to 0.2 ${\mu}m$$R_{max}$ over the entire inner surface of the tube.
In this study, CV cast iron was reverse transformed to produce harder second phase surrounding graphite nodules, and then the microstructure and related mechanical properties of the reverse transformed CV cast iron were investigated by using optical microscopy and by carrying out hardness, tension and impact test. The formation of hard second phase surrounding graphite nodules increased the hardness in CV cast iron. The marked increase in hardness was resulted from the formation of martensite surrounding graphite nodule. It is expected from these results that the formation of martensite surrounding graphite nodule would improve the wear resistance of CV cast iron. The formation of both martensite and pearlite surrounding graphite nodule improved the tensile properties. Impact properties were decreased with increasing the volume fraction of hard second phase. However, the reduced impact properties could be recovered through phase transformation of martensite into pearlite and sorbite by tempering.

The constituent phases in Ti($C_{0.7}N_{0.3}$)-xWC-20Ni (wt%, x=5, 15, 25) cermets were characterized using nanoindentation in conjunction with observation of microstructure. The microstructure of cermet is composed of hard phase and binder phase, which gave rise to a wide range of hardness distribution when nanoindentation was carried out on the polished surface of cermets. Because of the inhomogeneous nature of cermet microstructure, observation of indented surface was indispensable in order to separate the hardness of each constituent phase. The measured values of hardness using nanoindentation were ${\sim}14\;GPa$ for the binder phase and ${\sim}24$ to 28 GPa for the hard phase, of which nanoindentation hardness was decreased with the addition of WC into Ti($C_{0.7}N_{0.3}$)-Ni system. In addition, the nanoindentation hardness of Ni binder phase was much higher than reported Vickers hardness, which could result from confined deformation of binder phase due to the surrounding hard phase particles.

Har dmaterials such as cemented carbides with or without coated layer, cermets, ceramics and diamond or c-BN high pressure sintered compact are used for cutting tools, wear -resistant parts, rock drilling bits and/or high pressure vessels. These hardmaterials contain not only hard phase, but also second consituent as the element for forming ductile phase and/or sintering aid, and the mechanical properties of each material depend on (1) the amount of the second constituent as well as (2) the grain size of the hard phase. The hardness of each material mainly depends on these two factors. The fracture strength, however, largely depends on other microstructur a1 factors as well as the above two factors. For all hardmaterials, the fracture strength is consider ably affected by (3) the size of microstructur a1 defect which acts as the fracture source. In cemented carbides, the following factors which are generated mainly due to the addition of the second constituent are also important; (4) the variation of the carbon content in the normal phase region free from V-phase and graphite phase, (5) the precipitation of $Co_3$ during heating at about $800^{\circ}C$,(6) the domain size of binder phase, and (7) the formation of ${\beta}$-free layer or Co-rich layer near the surface of sintered compacts. For cemented carbides coated with thin hard substance, the important factors are as follows; (8) the kind of coated substance, (9) the formation of ${\eta}$-phase layer at the interface between coated layer and substrate, (10) the type of residual stress (tension or compression) in the coated layer which depends on the kind of coating method (CVD or PVD), and (11) the properties of the substrate, and (12) the combination, coherency and periodicity of multi-layers. In the lecture, the details of these factors and their effect on the strength will be explained.
The green and hard machining characteristics of dental ceramics are of great interest to dental industry. The green bodies of TZP/$Al_2O_3$ composites were prepared by the cold isostatic pressing, and machined on the CNC lathe using PCD (polycrystalline diamond) insert under various machining conditions. With increasing nose radius of PCD insert, surface roughness initially increased due to increased cutting resistance, but decreased by the onset of sliding fracture. The lowest surface roughness was obtained at spindle speed of 1,300 rpm and lowest feed rate. Hard bodies were prepared by pressureless sintering the machined green bodies at several temperatures. The grinding test for sintered hard body was conducted using electroplated diamond bur with different grit sizes. During grinding, grain pull out in the composite was occurred due to thermal expansion mismatch between the alumina and zirconia. The strength of the composite decreased with alumina contents, due to increased surface roughness and high monoclinic phase transformed during grinding process. The final polished samples represented high strength by the elimination of a phase transformation layer.

The properties of magnetic material of Nd-Fe-B are highly affected by various factors such as particle size, magnetic anisotropy, phase purity and crystal structure. Incorporation of excess neodymium was carried out in various percentages so that it will adjust the proportion of neodymium in the host crystal after reduction treatment and finally help to improve magnetic property of a material. The interdiffusion of Nd-Fe and boron was studied for various compositions and their effect on magnetic property was understood with theoretical concepts. The factors such as amount of hard and soft phase in the reduction treated product is also responsible for the possible exchange coupling between hard and soft phase magnets for better magnetic properties.
This paper describes a soft switching using discontinuous inductor current. The soft switching snubber circuit provides ZCS and ZVS for main switch. For high power applications, the input ractifier is fed from a three-phase ac source. The Conventional switching method is hard switching technics, because of the device turn off is ocurred in maximum reactor current. In this time, switching losses are maximised by the hard switching. In generally, soft switching technique has been adjusted with the snubber condenser in order to compensates for this losses. So, it was compared hard switching with soft switching which has proposed in this paper for switching losses, distortion factor by the simulation.

Segmented block copolyetheresters defined as copolymers having sequences of alternating polyester hard blocks and polyether soft blocks create labile physical cross-links upon crystallization of hard polyester blocks Since the nature of the physical interlocking is a crystallite formed exclusively from the crystallizable hard segment, the basic understanding of interrelationship between crystallization condition and phase morphology is very important for the property control of the segmented block copolyetheresters.
