  • For a successful inter-system handoff, several important issues must be handled and additional new features must be considered. This paper focuses on the cellular structure of small cells which are required for the high density of population and a handoff scheme designed between two heterogenous networks. Incase of inter-system handoff (ISHO), the time required to complete the handoff can vary and depends on the structure of networks. And also the transmission of additional signals can increase the probability of failure for ISHO. Here we propose the sub-boundary cell base station (Sub-BBS) to alleviate the role of the BBS. The Sub-BBS is adjacent to BBS in the same regional mobile network. 쪼en the mobile terminal enters Sub-BBS, the network starts finding a new route and after entering BBS, it initiates the transformation process. The proposed scheme significantly reduces the ISHO failure rate compared to the existing one which is the most recent and known as efficient.

  • To obtain realistic performance measures for wireless networks, one should consider changes in performance due to failure related behavior. In performability analysis, simultaneous consideration is given to both pure performance and performance with failure measures. SRN is an extension of stochastic Petri nets and provides compact modeling facilities for system analysis. In this paper, a new methodology to model and analyze performability based on stochastic reward nets (SRN) is presented. Composite performance and availability SRN models for wireless handoff schemes are developed and then these models are decomposed hierarchically. The SRN models can yield measures of interest such as blocking and dropping probabilities. These measures are expressed in terms of the expected values of reward rate functions for SRNs. Numerical results show the accuracy of the hierarchical model. The key contribution of this paper constitutes the Petri nets modeling techniques instead of complicate numerical analysis of Markov chains and easy way of performance analysis for channel allocation under SRN reward concepts.

  • The Mobile IP has evolved from providing mobility support for portable computers to support wireless handheld devices with high mobility patterns. The Mobile IP secures mobility, but does not guarantee security, In this paper, the Mobile IP has been adapted to allow AM protocol that supports authentication, authorization and accounting for authentication and collection of accounting information of network usage by mobile nodes, For this goal, we propose a new security handoff mechanism to intensify the Mobile IP security and to achieve fast handoff. In the proposed mechanism, we provide enough handoff achievement time to maintain the security of mobile nodes, According to the analysis of modeling result, the proposed mechanism composed the basic Mobile IP along with AM protocol is up to about $60\%$ better in terms of normalized surcharge for the handoff failure rate that considers handoff time.

  • Traffic nonuniformity degrades the performance of DCMA cellular systems. This paper presents a new algorithm called the Soft Handoff with Dynamic Thresholds (SHDT) which reduces the performance degeradation due traffic nonuniformity on CDMA systems. Unlike the conventional fixed handoff thresholds, algorithm allows the handoff thresholds (T_ADD and T_DROP) to vary dynamically according to the traffic density of each cell. This algerian has been implemented by means of computer simulation and the results show that SHDT improves the overall CDMA system performance in terms of outage probability. The SHDT algorithm can easily be applied to CDMA cellular systems without my modification.

  • Today, packet services for wireless internet is provided by WiBro WLAN 3G, but it is hard to be satisfied seamless connection in each of networks and wide-area service will increase the number of BS(base station) because WiBro and WLAN has been coverage smaller than 3G. that is, communicate which can use continuous and seamless data service is available when user is moving. Therefore, service provider need to integrate network for reducing management expenses. In this paper, we propose advanced handoff algorithm which is considered by 'user demand bandwidth', 'MN(Mobile Node) movement speed' and 'MN service area' and show that simulating result is superior to 'bandwidth allocation', 'QoS(Quality of Service) rate' and 'handoff failure rate'

  • The Mobile W provides an efficient and scalable mechanism for host mobility within the Internet. However, the mobility implies higher security risks than static operations in fixed networks. In this paper, the Mobile IP has been adapted to allow AAA protocol that supports authentication, authorization, and accounting(AAA) for security and collection for accounting information of network usage by mobile nodes(MNs). For this goal, we Propose the boundary tone overlapped network structure while solidifying the security for the authentication of an MN. That is, the Proposed scheme delivers the session keys at the wired link for MN's security instead of the wireless one, so that it provides a fast and seamless handoff mechanism. According to the analysis of modeling result, the proposed mechanism compared to the existing session key reuse method is up to about $40\%$ better in terms of normalized surcharge for the handoff failure rate that considers handoff total time.

  • This paper studies interconnection of DCS1800 and GSM900 dual-band networks. Two types of interconnection config-urations for GSM services, non-overlap and overlap, are described. We propose analytic and simulation models to investigate the ben-efit of the overlap configuration. Our results explain how the radio channel capacities, the inter-system handoff failure rate, the origi-nating call traffic ratio and the offered loads affect the system per-formance. This study indicates that with appropriate overlap con-figuration, the GSM dual-band network can significantly improve the quality of cellular service.
