The demand for independent generators using renewable energy has been increasing. Among those independent generators, small wind turbine generators have been actively developed. Permanent magnets are generally used for small wind turbine generators to realize a simple structure and small volume. On the other hand, cogging torque is included due to the structure of the permanent magnet synchronous machine, which can be the source of noise and vibration. The cogging torque can be varied by the shape of the permanent magnet and core, and it can be reduced using the appropriate design techniques. This paper proposes a design technique that can reduce the cogging torque by changing the shape of the permanent magnets for SPMSM (Surface Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor), which is used widely for small wind turbine generators. Evolution Strategy, which is one of non-deterministic optimization techniques, was adopted to find the optimal shape of the permanent magnets that can reduce the cogging torque. The angle and outer diameter of permanent magnet were set as the design variable. A 300W class wind turbine generator, whose pole/slot combination was 8 poles/18 slots, was designed with the proposed design technique. The properties of the generator, including the cogging torque and output voltage, were calculated. The calculation results showed that the cogging torque of the optimized model was reduced compared to that of the initial model. The design technique proposed by this paper can be an effective measure to reduce the cogging torque.

A terahertz asymmetric split-loop resonator (ASLR) was analyzed for use in high-sensitivity sensing applications. Its structural asymmetricity induces an asymmetric Fano resonance which has a high quality factor compared to the symmetric eigen-resonance. The variations of the resonant frequency, transmission coefficient, and quality factor of the ASLR in the eigen and Fano resonances are analyzed as a function of its structural asymmetricity. Also, the surface current densities on the ASLR in both resonances are calculated to analyze the main cause of the variations of its transmission characteristics. The surface current of the ASLR in the eigen resonance shows a dipole resonance, which increases the radiation loss and reduces the quality factor. On the other hand, the surface current of the ASLR in the Fano resonance shows a trapped or quadrupole mode which has a low radiation loss. Therefore, the ASLR operated in the Fano resonance has a high quality factor. Terahertz, high-performance filters and high sensitivity sensors can be developed based on our analysis results of the ASLR having a high quality factor. These high-performance devices based on terahertz metamaterials could increase the adoption of terahertz industrial applications.

In the international natural gas market, natural gas has markedly low calories. The domestic calories standard of natural gas was changed and the performance and efficiency of many industrial machines using natural gas were affected because of low caloric natural gas. Therefore, in this study, a dual fuel engine fueled with natural gas and diesel was tested to examine the effects of the CNG substitution rate on the combustion characteristics, such as thermal efficiency, COVimep and heat release rate. The CNG substitution rate was defined as the ratio of CNG instead of diesel, which was calculated as the total energy. The conditions of the tested engine were fixed $1800rpm/500N{\cdot}m$. In addition, diesel fuel was injected at $16^{\circ}CA$ BTDC and the fuel pressure was fixed at 85 MPa; the lower heating value of CNG was $10,400kcal/Nm^3$. The results of the engine test showed that the amount of diesel fuel was changed according to the CNG substitution rate. Therefore, when the substitution rate was increased, the amount of diesel fuel was decreased, which affected the energy for ignition. In addition, the ignition delay duration was increased, which affected the thermal efficiency and torque. On the other hand, the COVimep was less than 5% and a stable combustion state of the engine was shown.
The objective of this study is to assess the availability of streamflow simulation using Radar-AWS Rain rate (RAR) data which is produced by KMA on real-time. Chuncheon dam upstream basin is selected as study area and total area is 4859.73 $km^2$. Mean Areal Precipitation (MAP) using AWS and RAR are calculated on 5 subbasin. The correlationship of hourly MAPs between AWS and RAR is weak on ungauged subbasins but that is relatively high on gauged ones. We evaluated the simulated discharge using the MAPs derived from two data types during flood season from 2006 to 2009. The simulated discharges using AWS on Chuncheon dam (gauged basin) are well fitted with measured ones. In some cases, however, discharges using AWS on Hwacheon dam and Pyeonghwa dam with some ungauged subbasins are overestimated on the other hand, ones using RAR in the same case are well fitted with measured ones. The hourly RAR data is useful for the real-time river forecast on the ungauged basin in view of the results.
When feeling the pulse, healthy man' pulse is the criterion for diagnosis whether you are a sick person. Healthy man is defined as one who is harmonious and not sick in sympathy with natural order. Among the factors for being Healthy man, breathing and pulsation, Chon-gu(寸口) and Inyeong(人迎) are most closely connected with the representative methods of feeling the pulse which are used currently. According to "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)" on breathing and pulsation, the pulse beats twice per a breathing-in and a breathing-out each. And for a specific breathing, it beats 5 times including the remnant with a big breath. That the pulse beats twice means that it beats not only twice, but also regularly and repeatedly. The remnant is related to the meaning on a leap month, 5-time beating during a breath is connected with the contents of Osipyeong(五十營). A human is not always in stable and sticks to balance continuously with changes under the circumstances. So when it comes to a criterion how to measure the pulsation frequency, breathing is much more reasonable than pulsation and breathing calculated for a minute. According to "Hwangjenaegyeong(黃帝內經)", Healthy man is the person of whose Chon-gu and Inyeong are in order and much the same in response to each other. Although there is a minor difference in the meaning of term between Chon-gu and Gigu(氣口), Maekgu(脈口) in originally, it is used as almost same meaning when Chon-gu is used in opposition to Inyeong. Afterwards, depending on medical men, around neck or Chon-gu of the left hand are measured for Inyeong. However, Inyeong described in "Naegyeong(內經)" is Jokyangmyeong(足陽明) and it means the Hyeol(穴) around neck where the pulse beats, it looks like about the carotid area. Chon-gu is fall under Eum(陰) and Inyeong(人迎) is fall under Yang(陽). Therefore Chon-gu is continuous with eumgyeong(陰經) and Inyeong is continuous with yanggyeong(陽經). In addition, the pulse and the four seasons meet each other and Inyeong is a little stronger in spring summer and Chongu is a little stronger in fall winter.

The partitioning level of a catchment becomes an issue if the calculated results from different levels show the same performance regardless of the levels. This study aims to identify the proper processing level of spatial resolution for the SWMM model application in an urban area. Using GIS overlaying technique, the division of subcatchments as a hydrologic similarity unit (HSU) is achieved with a comprehensive consideration of surface slope conditions, flow directions of storm sewers, and current land cover situation. Three surface-sewer alternatives are made on the basis of three different levels of surface divisions as well as the number of sewer connections and used as runoff simulation fields for the application of SWMM. As the result, it is found that the effect of a spatial resolution on the surface runoff results is not significant. On the other hand, the accumulated pollution load from an unit subcatchment, which is built by aggregation of several unit subcatchments consisting of various land cover conditions is reduced through the deterioration of surface spatial resolution. Although overall runoff pattern and accumulated runoff are little affected by spatial resolution, the simulated runoff from sewer outlet shows slight difference at the peak appearance time. The gap between surface pollution load accumulated and it discharged from the sewer outlet in a surface-sewer alternative during runoff period is monitored but the level of error is less than 5-10% except the lowest spatial resolution case.
The characteristic of rainfall intensity in short duration is very important to calculate short-term runoff in small watershed by Rational method. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to derive the most proper formula on the probable rainfall intensity in each return period in Daejeon area. And the results of this study could be utilized for the design of drainage-structures in small watershed, drainage system in urban area and flood control in small river basin. The result s of this study are summerized as follows. 1. Gumbel-Chow method which shows the mean value was chosen to calculate the probable rainfall in tensity in each return periods. 2. According to statistical judgement, probable rainfall intensity formula of Japanese type($I={\frac{a}{t+b}}$, see Table-6) shows the most proper one among other types of formula like Talbot type, Sherman type and Characteristic coefficient method. Probable rainfall in tensity value of Japanese type in Daejeon area shows well coincidence with the one obtained by applying prof. Park's n-coefficient to Monobe formula $I=({\frac{R_{24}}{24}})({\frac{T}{t}})^{0.5486}$. On the other hand, the value by Monobe formula with n-coefficient of 2/3 which is being used as a disign criterison by M. O. C. shows large difference from the fore-mentioned results (see Table-7). Consequently the value by Monobe formula might be judged that it is too much overestimated one as a design criterion. 3. Short-term runoff in small water shed could be calculated more reasonably in Daejeon area through this probable rainfall in tensity formula.
This study suggests a method of alleviating global warming by the increase of the Earth surface albedo through Artificial Sea ice Increasing (ASI) over the Available Freezing Areas (AFA). The method is developed based on the fact that the large sea surface area in or near the Arctic and the Antarctic has no ice even though both water and air temperatures are below zero and the artificial sea ice generation is thus available. The mean energy of $0.85Wm^{-2}$, which was suspected of adding to the earth by the global warming effect was calculated to offset at once when the sea ice area about $4.09{\times}10^6km^2$ was additionally increased. In addition, three techniques for producing ice plates on the sea surface (using ships, installation apparatus, and floating matter such as Green Cell Foam) for ASI were proposed. According to the result of simple analysis using the energy balance model, when ASI was maximally operated only for 3 months (September, October, and November) over AFA, it is expected that the annual mean temperature of earth surface would be decreased about $0.11^{\circ}C$ in the following year. On the other hand, in case of generating the artificial sea ice in all four seasons, a risk of triggering snowball earth was detected.
Reinforced concrete (RC) structures have been most widely used because of their good economic efficiency. However, it is very weak in tensile stresses and difficult to control deflection due to the heavy self-weight of concrete. On the other hand, it is generally known that prestressed concrete structures can be the most effective to overcome the demerits of RC structures by using various tendon lay-out and its amount. In the prestressed concrete members, the inflection points of tendons should be placed effectively for the deflection control and the moment reduction. Therefore, in this study, the equations of tendon profiles are derived in terms of polynomials that satisfy essential conditions of tendon geometries such as inflection points and natural curved shapes of tendons placed in continuous members, from which vertical components of prestressing forces can be also calculated. The derived high order polynomial expression for the distributed shape of the upward and downward forces was transformed to an simplified equivalent uniform vertical force in order to improve the applicability in the calculation of member deflection. The influences of vertical forces by tendons to deflection and moment in a continuous slab were also considered depending on the distance from column face to the location of tendons. The applicability of the proposed method was examined by an example of deflection calculation for the cases of slabs with and without tendons, and the efficiency of deflection control by tendons was also quantitatively estimated.

For twelve solvent thinners, evaporation rates of components were investigated and models to estimate the actual concentration have been evaluated. Also, the current ACGIH TLVs (Threshold Limit Values) for the concentration of organic mixtures have been adjusted. The results of this study are summarized as follows : 1. Airborne concentrations of solvent thinner components were related to their respective vapor pressure (r=0.96). On the other hand, there was no significant relation between the concentrations in the air of the thinner compounds and the original amount in liquid form. 2. Airborne concentrations of each chemical were estimated by temperature at $8.5{\pm}1$, $16.7{\pm}1$ and $31.5{\pm}2^{\circ}C$ with an air velocity of 1.5 m/s. The concentrations were increased by increasing temperature (p<0.05). The percentage of concentrations were proportionate to their respective percentage of vapor pressure. Among the chemicals studied, n-butyl acetate, n-butyl alcohol, m-xylene, p-xylene and o-xylene showed a clear relationship to temperature. 3. Airborne concentration of each chemical was estimated by air velocity at 0.05, 1.50 and 2.50 m/s, with a constant temperature at $17{\pm}2^{\circ}C$. The concentrations were increased by increasing air velocity (p<0.05). The percentage of concentrations were proportionate to their respective percentage of vapor pressure. Among the chemicals studied, n-butyl alcohol, m-xylene and p-xylene showed a clear relationship to velocity. 4. In estimating the concentrations of solvent thinners by temperature and air velocity, ACGIH TLVs for mixtures tended to be larger than the values obtained by ACGIH exposure index. It shows that ACGIH TLVs for mixtures are not adequate for evaluating the airborne concentration of thinners and other organic mixtures. 5. The evaporation rate of the thinners were compared to the theoretical equations of Hummel, Braun and Mackay. The Hummel and Braun methods were close to exposure index but Makay's showed an underestimated value. In order to see the accuracy of each three models, the SSE (Error Sum of Squares) calculated for Hummel's was 1.73, being the closest to the actual values. 6. Present ACGIH TLVs for mixtures are not appropriate evaluate industrial environments. In this study, a correction of TLVs using vapor pressure of respective components was suggested. In order to evaluate the corrected TLVs a paired t-test was performed. There was no significant difference between the exposure index and the concentration over suggested TLVs (p>0.05). Thus, this corrected TLVs seem appropriate in order to evaluate actual industrial workplaces organic chemical concentration in the air.
