패션한복시대의 한복 전문교육 현황 연구 (A Study on the Current Status of Hanbok Education in the Era of Fashion Hanbok)

  • This study aims to derive suggestions to help develop Hanbok education in the future by examining its current status in domestic educational institutions in light of rising social demand for Hanbok in the era of fashion Hanbok. We assessed the Hanbok curriculum in educational institutions nationwide, including universities and specialized institutes, and conducted in-depth interviews to understand the operational status of Hanbok-specialized education. We found that the demand for education on production functions is decreasing, while the demand for in-depth education on the history of Korean costume and education integrating Hanbok with design and marketing is increasing. We also found that, in the case of universities, which play an important role in Hanbok research and education, professional research and training are shrinking in graduate schools, whereas Hanbok subjects are being maintained and new subjects are being taught in undergraduate courses. In the fashion Hanbok era, it has been suggested that Hanbok education needs to converge with design and marketing education, beyond teaching only Hanbok. In addition, the necessity of expanding liberal arts education within universities to meet social demand was proposed, and online education was expected to help spread knowledge.

한복 문화 산업의 발전을 위한 탐색적 연구 (An Exploratory Study on the Development of Hanbok Culture Industry)

  • In this study, in-depth interviews with Hanbok experts on the development direction of the Hanbok culture industry were performed to listen to professional and future-oriented opinions for the development of Hanbok culture and the Hanbok industry. Interviews were conducted with 12 experts to identify the perception of the Hanbok culture industry and to confirm the possibility of sustainable development of Hanbok as a global culture. First, the results of this study should be preceded by the establishment of concepts such as traditional Hanbok, daily Hanbok, fusion Hanbok, and new Hanbok, and design, education, and government support suitable for each field are required. Second, the responsible craftsmanship of the Hanbok industry, the development of Hanbok design with the aesthetics and convenience of Hanbok designers, multi-dimensional research with high academic use, and systematic support for various Hanbok-related programs and events by the government are needed. Third, the government should promote and actively wear Hanbok through various media to revitalize the Hanbok culture, such as establishing a Hanbok wearing day, reviving etiquette education in school, and providing local-based Hanbok wearing experience education. Fourth, in order to cultivate professional manpower, detailed Hanbok education by field is necessary, and specialized education tools, such as distribution, VMD, and stylist are proposed.

한복브랜드 창업가 및 종사자 특성에 따른 한복 교육, 공공지원 수요 연구 (Assessing the Demand for Hanbok Education and Public Support Using the Characteristics of Hanbok Brand Entrepreneurs and Workers)

  • The growth of the fashionable hanbok market has led to a significant increase in the number of entrepreneurs or prospective entrepreneurs with small hanbok businesses. To develop the hanbok industry, the public sector is developing and providing education and support programs to enhance the competencies of individual hanbok brand entrepreneurs. This study conducted a survey of 213 subjects such as business operators, workers, and prospective workers in the changing hanbok industry. This study investigated their hanbok education experiences as well as future demands for education and public support programs. To explore differences based on individual characteristics, this study measured such characteristics using entrepreneurial orientation as well as the artistic and entrepreneurial competencies important in running a hanbok brand and analyzed the relationship demand for education and public support. Hanbok brand worker characteristics were classified into four groups based on individual characteristics: "traditionalist," "entrepreneur," "opportunist," and "businessman." Differences existed in terms of detailed education experience and demand as well as demand for public support, depending on the group. The results of this study contribute to development of hanbok curriculums that consider individual characteristics, the effective incubation of new and prospective hanbok brand entrepreneurs, as well as the research on founding small-scale fashion businesses.

텍스트 마이닝을 통해 살펴본 청소년의 한복 인식 (Recognizing hanbok in youth through text mining)

  • Recently, young people wearing hanbok are highly visible in the palace and in Hanok Village. However, there is much controversy regarding whether the hanbok the young people are wearing is traditional. Young people in Korea are exposed to hanbok through a variety of ways such as school education, games, webtoons, television shows, and movies. In this study, we presented teenagers with illustrations of hanbok to see which they preferred and which if any they recognized as traditional. The study respondents most preferred the hanbok from the 18th century, but they considered the hanbok from the 20th century to be the traditional style. We next used text mining to analyze the students' freely written, open-ended responses regarding the hanbok they preferred and the one they considered traditional. The hanbok from the 18th century, the one the teenagers preferred, was a sexy, cool style related to gisaeng that emphasized the waist, whereas the hanbok they believed was traditional, the $20^{th}$-century hanbok, was simple, neat, comfortable, and plain. Among the young people's responses regarding which hanbok was traditional, the text mining extracted the following repeated words related to both the 18th- and 20th-century hanbok: "dramas," "mass media," "historical dramas," and "movies." For the 18th-century hanbok only, we extracted "webtoons" and "Hanok Village," and for only the 20th-century hanbok, we extracted "textbooks."

한복 용어 출현 양상에 대한 연구 -학술연구분야와 언론분야의 비교를 중심으로- (A Study on the Usage of Hanbok Terms -Comparing Academic and Journalistic Fields-)

  • This study reviewed hanbok terms emerging in academic research and media fields to conceptualize hanbok terms. Terms of hanbok were collected through RISS and Bigkinds by field. Results of textming using Textom were as follows. First, a total of 17 hanbok terms appeared in the field of academic research and a total of 41 hanbok terms appeared in the field of media, showing a difference. Fourteen terms, including hanbok, traditional hanbok, traditional clothing, daily hanbok, modernized hanbok, fashion hanbok, fusion hanbok, Shinhanbok, ready-made hanbok, luxury hanbok, women's hanbok, and children's hanbok, were hanbok terms that appeared in both academic and media fields. Second, the appearance of hanbok terms was examined based on five terms: traditional hanbok, daily hanbok, modernized hanbok, fusion hanbok, and Shinhanbok, which differed in the appearance of hanbok terms between academic research and media. Traditional hanbok and daily hanbok terms steadily appeared in both academic research and media, with modernized hanbok and fusion hanbok appearing mainly in the media and Shinhanbok in the academic research fields. Results of this studys confirmed that there were differences in terms of hanbok used between academic research and media fields.

중고한복시장 및 한복리폼시장의 활성화 방안 연구 (A Study on the Activation of Used Market of Hanbok and Hanbok Reform Market)

  • In order to find ways to re-use used Hanbok and activate Hanbok reform, it is necessary to investigate the current status and problems of used Hanbok and Hanbok reform in the domestic Hanbok market. The purpose of this study was to investigate the status and problems of the used Hanbok market and the Hanbok reform market through literature data surveys and in-depth interviews with Hanbok experts, and to study ways to activate used Hanbok and Hanbok reform. Based on the results of this study, as a way to activate the used Hanbok market and the Hanbok reform market, expand opportunities and create a social and cultural atmosphere for wearing Hanbok, and research on design, pattern, size, and materials. It also suggested the establishment of a systematic system for separate collection, reform, sales and management, the establishment of a central institution that manages and operates the re-use of used Hanbok and Hanbok reform, support for education institutions and programs for Hanbok reform, public relations, and changes in Hanbok production methods.

크라우드 펀딩에 나타난 리워드 한복의 현황과 특성 연구 (A Study on the Current Status and Characteristics of Reward Hanbok in Crowdfunding)

  • Hanbok, a traditional Korean clothing, became a hip culture for young people in the late 2010s. As hanbok brands for young people appeared and distribution channels changed for them, hanbok appeared on the crowdfunding platform. This study summarized characteristics of hanbok provided as rewards by funding projects in Wadiz, the largest crowdfunding platform in Korea. Results of this study are as follows. First, since the first successful crowdfunding in 2015, it has shown rapidly growth. Second, as a result of examining the name of reward hanbok, 167 reward hanbok appeared. They could be divided into three periods: women's hanbok, unisex hanbok and trendy hanbok period. Third, looking at characteristics of reward hanbok from each period, feminine Chollic onepiece during the women's Hanbok period adopted the feminine interpretation of the original men's Hanbok. Characteristics of reward hanbok during the Unisex Hanbok period are in the direction of the closure. By adopting the direction of the closure of hanbok that both men and women can use, unisex hanbok is appeared. Finally, reward hanbok during the trendy hanbok period reflected trends such as genderless and hip. Hanbok reflected various trends from home culture to COVID-19 that occurred around the world at that time.

한복 교복의 디자인 사례 분석 - 한복진흥센터 한복 교복 보급사업을 중심으로 - (Hanbok school uniform design case analysis - Focused on the Hanbok Advancement Center's school uniform distribution project -)

  • This study aimed to examine the recent Hanbok school uniform design directions to contribute to the distribution of Hanbok school uniforms and the accumulation of Hanbok-inspired fashion design sources. We reviewed 16 academic papers published on Hanbok school uniform designs from 1998 to 2023 and summarized the design features proposed therein. We also analyzed 172 items of Hanbok school uniform designs developed under the Hanbok school uniform promotion project hosted by the Hanbok Advancement Center between 2019 and 2022. We found that the recent Hanbok school uniform design characteristics conformed to the design directions proposed in previous studies in terms of line, color, fabric, and textile pattern. Conforming design characteristics include the following. Overall, silhouettes were straight and moderately fitting to the body. Detailed straight and curved lines from Hanbok were applied. Designs showed traditional Hanbok colors, including white, black, and navy. Machine washable cotton and various blended fabrics were used. Modernized traditional patterns such as Saekdong, cloud, and Gwae were applied to textile designs. In contrast, some characteristics of recent designs deviated from the proposed design directions. Barrel silhouettes were found in casual styles of uniform items, including sweatshirts, hoodies, and jumpers. A wider range of materials, including fleece, quilted fabric, brocade, and Jinju silk, were used. Uniforms had looser silhouettes and were made with modern washable materials to meet students' preference for casual uniforms.

고등학생의 한복 이미지, 선호 유형, 전통한복 인식 분석: 한복수업 참여 여부 및 성별을 중심으로 (Analysis on the Hanbok Image, Perception and Preference Type of High School Students: Focused on Participation in Hanbok Classes and Gender)

  • 본 연구의 목적은 고등학생의 한복 이미지, 한복 선호 유형, 전통한복 인식을 알아보고 성별 및 한복수업 참여 여부에 따른 차이를 확인하는 것이다. 이를 위해 부산 지역 고등학생 438명의 자료를 수집한 후 SPSS를 사용하여 빈도 분석, 교차 분석, t-검정, F-검정으로 분석하였다. 본 연구 결과는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 대부분의 고등학생은 한복을 우아한 이미지로 인식하고 있었으나 대중매체 및 온라인상에서 화려한 한복 디자인에 노출되어 한복에 대한 화려한 이미지도 가지고 있는 것으로 나타났다. 한복 이미지는 성별, 한복수업 참여 여부 및 성별을 고려한 집단에서 통계적 유의미성이 확인되었다. 촌스러운 이미지는 남학생이 여학생에 비해 높은 비율을 보였고, 한복수업 미참여 남학생 집단이 수업 참여 남학생 집단에 비해 3배 이상 높은 비율로 나타났다. 둘째, 고등학생이 선호하고 있는 한복 유형은 전통한복이었으며 그 다음으로는 퓨전한복, 생활한복, 패션한복 순으로 나타났다. 한복 선호 유형은 성별, 한복수업 참여 여부 및 성별을 고려한 집단에 따라 차이를 보였다. 특히 패션한복에 대한 선호는 한복수업참여 집단이 미참여 집단에 비해 높은 비율로 나타났다. 셋째, 고등학생의 전통한복에 대한 인식도는 보통 이상이었고 하위요소별로 살펴보면 심미성, 지속가능성, 실용성 순으로 나타났다. 전통한복 인식은 한복수업 참여 여부, 성별, 한복수업 참여 여부 및 성별을 고려한 집단에서 유의미한 차이를 보였다. 여학생이 남학생에 비해 그리고 한복수업 참여 학생이 미참여 학생에 비해 전통한복을 긍정적으로 평가한 것으로 나타났다.

  • This study is not just a meaning of costume but a function of culture and includes addresses the associated emotions. As the interest of youths has increased recently, the importance of traditional costume education has been growing. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the contents of Hanbok in the 2015 revised high school technology and home textbooks using content analysis techniques and text mining techniques. As a result of the study, first, the symbolic meaning and characteristics of Hanbok and the beauty of Hanbok were practiced in daily life, and the value was found through the excellence of Hanbok and the modernization of Hanbok was dealt with Second, most of the illustrations related to traditional costumes were presented in various ways, but there were some regrets due to lack of quantity and quality. Third, the words used to explain traditional costumes were used in the form of culture, excellence, tradition, modernity, harmony, succession, etc. except for the types of clothing. Therefore, the results and discussions derived from this study are expected to help the textbooks to be efficiently selected and used in the field of the front line school along with the correct understanding of traditional culture in the process of selecting traditional culture contents and illustrations.
