  • This paper describes two novel current fed high frequency resonant inverter can be used as the power supp]y for wax-sealing. This two topology can be obtained higher output frequency than switching frequency by composing modified unit inverter based on conventional half-bridge serial resonant inverter in parallel with input power source. also, By using time-sharing gate control method, this proposed inverter can not only realize the output control of dependence irrespective of the switching frequency using phase-shift but also reduce switching loss because it has ZVS function. Simulation results through the Pspice have demonstrated the feasibility of the proposed inverter. This proposed inverter will be able to be practically used as a power supply in various fields as induction heating applications, DC-DC converter etc.

  • HEV(Hybrid Electrical Vehicle)의 배터리와 전동기/발전기용 인버터 사이에 장착되는 양방향 컨버터는 boost/buck 동작을 수행함으로써 차량이 효율적으로 동작되도록 한다. 대표적인 단상(single-phase)의 Half bridge topology를 기준으로 효율을 분석 하였으며 효율 개선을 위하여 다상(multi-phase) 인터리빙, 소프트 스위칭 기술 등이 사용되고 있으나 여기서는 하드 스위칭 상태만 다룬다. Ideal한 컨버터의 경우 단순히 Duty비와 동작 영역에 따라서 출력 상태가 결정 되며 입력전력과 출력전력은 동일하다. 그러나 손실이 있는 경우 입/출력 전력은 동일하지 않게 되고, Duty 역시 변화 한다. 따라서 각 손실 파라미터를 Ideal한 Duty로 가정하고 구할 경우 오차가 발생한다. 또한, 스위칭 소자의 on/off시 발생하는 스위칭 손실은 실험 측정값과 계산값의 차이가 크기 때문에 이 역시 오차의 원인이 된다. 본 논문에서는 각 손실 파라미터와 입/출력 전력을 Duty에 대한 다항식으로 표현 하였다. 고차 다항식의 근을 수치 해석적으로 구하여 손실을 고려한 Duty비를 찾아 낼 수 있다. 스위칭 손실의 경우 데이터 시트에 주어진 손실 그래프를 테스트 영역까지 1차 근사하여 사용함으로써 정확한 효율 측정이 가능하도록 하였다.

  • As the demands of LCD and PDP TV are increasing, the high performance HVICs(High Voltage Gate Driver ICs) technology is becoming more necessary. In this paper, we designed the HVIC that has enhanced noise immunity and high driving capability. It can operate at 500KHz switching frequency and permit 600V input voltage. High-side level shifter is designed with noise protection circuit and schmitt trigger. Therefore it has very high dv/dt immunity, the maximum being 50V/ns. The HVIC was designed using $1{\mu}m$ BCD 650V process and verified by Spectre and PSpice of Cadence inc. simulation.

  • In this paper, It is indicating that an issues of the conventional boost converter for high frequency induction heating. To improve those issues, it is proposed, simulated and analyzed that the current resonant circuit, simulated. As the result, we knew that the proposed circuit has a good point to improve the waveform of input current and to make high efficiency. On the other side, in the inverter for the high current power supply, it is proposed that the high frequency inverter of the half bridge topology, be done the circuit analysis to extract the optimal circuit parameter. It is making sure of the soft switching operating by the inductor to reverse parallel connected on the inverter main switch, decreasing the surge voltage when the switch is turn-off by compulsion, and repressing the switch current and bringing the high current amplitude operation by the multi resonance.

  • 본 논문에서는 800V 배터리 전기자동차 LDC용 낮은 스위치 전압정격을 갖는 새로운 소프트 스위칭 하프브리지 컨버터를 제안한다. 제안하는 컨버터는 입력이 직렬구조로써 입력전압의 절반으로 낮은 스위치의 전압정격을 갖기 때문에 600V의 Si-MOSFET를 사용할 수 있어 도통손실을 줄일 수 있으며 부분공진 동작으로 스위칭 손실 저감 효과를 갖고, 넓은 입력전압 및 부하영역에서 소프트 스위칭을 성취하여 높은 효율을 달성할 수 있으며 변압기의 직렬연결로 된 커패시터로 인해 자화 전류의 오프셋이 없다. 제안하는 소프트 스위칭 컨버터의 동작원리를 제시하고 시작품을 통해 본 논문의 타당성을 검증하였다.

  • This paper presents a simple and cost-effective stand-alone rapid battery charging system of 30kW for electric vehicles. The proposed system mainly consists of active front-end rectifier of neutral point clamped 3-level type and non-isolated bi-directional dc-dc converter of multi-phase interleaved half-bridge topology. The charging system is designed to operate for both lithium-polymer and lithium-ion batteries. The complete charging sequence is made up of three sub-interval operating modes; pre-charge mode, constant-current mode, and constant-voltage mode. The pre-charge mode employs the stair-case shaped current profile to accomplish shorter charging time while maintaining the reliable operation of the battery. The proposed system is specified to reach the full-charge state within less than 16min for the battery capacity of 8kWh by supplying the charging current of 78A. Owing to the simple and compact power conversion scheme, the proposed solution has superior module-friendly mechanical structure which is absolutely required to realize flexible power expansion capability in a very high-current rapid charging system.

Owing to the simple and compact power conversion scheme, the proposed solution has superior module-friendly mechanical structure which is absolutely required to realize flexible power expansion capability in a very high-current rapid charging system. Experiment waveforms confirm the proposed functionality of the charging system.

  • This paper proposes a simulation model using an equivalent circuit for the development of an MMC system. The MMC has been chosen as the most suitable topology for high voltage power transmission, such as a voltage-type HVDC, and it has dozens to hundreds of sub-modules in the form of a half-bridge or full-bridge connected in series. A simulation study is essential for the development of an MMC algorithm. On the other hand, it is virtually impossible to construct and implement MMC simulation models, including hundreds or thousands of switching devices. Therefore, this paper presents an MMC equivalent model, which is easily expandable and implemented by modeling the dynamic characteristics. The voltage and current equation of the equivalent circuit was calculated using the direction of the arm current and switching signal. The model was implemented on Matlab/Simulink. In this paper, to show the validity of the model developed using Matlab/Simulink, the simulation results of a five-level MMC using the real switching element and the proposed equivalent model are shown. The validity of the proposed model was verified by showing that the current and voltage waveform in the two models match each other.

  • In the medical field, applications of plasma are applied sterilize instruments mainly but with the advent of bio-plasma technology, the scope of application is expanding. Recently, In addition, high-density miniaturization with handheld is required for sophisticated procedures when irradiated directly or treated with non-standard conditions. Rosen-type PZT is a device with a structure that generates high voltage plasma by achieving voltage transformation through electro-mechanical coupling using piezoelectric effect.and is used in portable plasma generating devices as an advantage to increase energy density relatively. In this paper, Rosen-type PZT was modeled using equivalent circuits and was carried out and a plasma generating device for medical application was designed and prototype tested. Prototype plasma generating device generates an output voltage of 5.8 kV with 12V input power and is designed to operate at high voltage by applying the half-bridge topology power converter. The results of the study confirmed the availability of various medical devices, such as plasma jets or direct exposure equipment.

The Development of Electric Ballast for a Instant Start/Restart of Metalhalide Lamp (메탈핼라이드램프용 순시점등/재점등 전자식안정기 개발)

  • The most shortcoming of metalhalide lamps is what the instant restarting cannot be realized when the arc tube is in the hot condition. The discharge starting voltage of arc tube in the hot condition is much higher than in the cold condition. Therefore it takes about five minutes to restart the metalhalide lamps, that is to say, it is possible to start when the pressure and the temperature are decreased. But, if the lamp is restarted in the hot condition, we must supply the high voltage pulse with 20[kV] at the both electrode of lamp. The proposed electronic ballast is consist of a electromagnetic interference(EMI) filter, a power factor correction(PFC) circuit, a flyback converter, a half-bridge inverter, and a high voltage igniter circuit. By this composition we can start/restart the lamp with the voltage 20[kV], even if the lamp is in the hot condition.
