  • A 6-dimensional sphere considered as a homogeneous space $G_2/SU(3)$ where $G_2$ is the group of automorphism of the octonians O. From this representation, we can define an almost comlex structure on a 6-dimensional sphere by making use of the vector cross product of the octonians. Also it is known that a homogeneous space $G_2/U(2)$ coincides with the Grassmann manifold of oriented 2-planes of a 7-dimensional Euclidean space.

  • We calculate the R(G)-algebra structure on the reduced equivariant K-groups of two-dimensional spheres on which a compact Lie group G acts as a reflection. In particular, the reduced equivariant K-groups are trivial if G is abelian, which shows that the previous Y. Yang's calculation in [8] is incorrect.

  • Hypermedia systems allow the retrieval and representation of multimedia in- formation such as text, graphics, image and voice/sound using navigation and browsing mechanisms. In this study we developed a hypermedia system which provides hierarchical group, local map and cluster view for effective navigation in hyperspace. The system also supports hot link, reference link, move-to link and multiple link to browse the multimedia information space effectively. This system has been designed to integrate the navigation, browsing and searching function of the hypermedia system in hyman factor perspective and provides the user-friendly user interface mechanism.

  • We classify equivariant topoligical complex vector bundles over real projective plane under a compact Lie group (not necessarily effective) action. It is shown that nonequivariant Chern classes and isotropy representations at (at most) three points are sufficient to classify equivariant vector bundles over real projective plane except one case. To do it, we relate the problem to classification on two-sphere through the covering map because equivariant vector bundles over two-sphere have been already classified.

  • The information about protein structure gives the clues for the function of protein. It is needed for the improvement for the efficacy and fast development of protein drugs. So, the studies visualizing the structure of protein effectively increase. Most studies of visualization focus on the structural prediction for protein or the improvement on the rendering speed. However, studies of information delivery depending on the form of protein visualization are very limited. The major objective of this study is to analyze the information representation goodness-of-fit for the patterns of the hybrid visualization with primary and secondary structures of protein. Those hybrid visualizations included the patterns which updated current representative visualization services, Chimera, PDB and Cn3D. Information factor to analyze information representation goodness-of-fit is assorted by protein primary structure, secondary protein structure, the location of amino acid and ratio information about protein secondary structure, based on the result of subject-analysis. Subject is the group of experts who are involved in protein drug development over 5 years. The result of this study shows the meaningful difference in the information representation goodness-of-fit by the patterns of hybrid visualization and proves the difference in the information by the pattern of visualization.

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate whether or not the use of the Korean alphabet increased the accuracy of English sentences Korean university students produced in dictation. The students were divided into three categories, beginning, intermediate, and advanced, based on the listening comprehension scores of a practice TOEIC test. The total population of 120 students were divided into two groups, control and experiment. In the first testing, the experiment group transcribed the English utterances on a practice TOEIC tape into phonological writing in Korean and then later changed the Korean writing into English words and sentences. In the second testing, the control group became the experiment group and used the Korean alphabet in transcribing the English sounds. Statistically significant differences were found in the improvement of accuracy in dictation when the Korean alphabet was used, especially for the beginning and intermediate students. By using the Korean alphabet as the phonological representation of the sounds, the students in the experiment group produced more accurate English words than the control group who went directly from the English utterances to writing in English. Statistically significant results were not produced for the advanced students. The significance of the present study relates to the need to add to the paucity of available data on the use of the Korean alphabet in teaching listening comprehension.

  • In this paper, we will consider certain amalgamated free product structure in crossed product algebras. Let M be a von Neumann algebra acting on a Hilbert space Hand G, a group and let ${\alpha}$ : G${\rightarrow}$ AutM be an action of G on M, where AutM is the group of all automorphisms on M. Then the crossed product $\mathbb{M}=M{\times}{\alpha}$ G of M and G with respect to ${\alpha}$ is a von Neumann algebra acting on $H{\bigotimes}{\iota}^2(G)$, generated by M and $(u_g)_g{\in}G$, where $u_g$ is the unitary representation of g on ${\iota}^2(G)$. We show that $M{\times}{\alpha}(G_1\;*\;G_2)=(M\;{\times}{\alpha}\;G_1)\;*_M\;(M\;{\times}{\alpha}\;G_2)$. We compute moments and cumulants of operators in $\mathbb{M}$. By doing that, we can verify that there is a close relation between Group Freeness and Amalgamated Freeness under the crossed product. As an application, we can show that if $F_N$ is the free group with N-generators, then the crossed product algebra $L_M(F_n){\equiv}M\;{\times}{\alpha}\;F_n$ satisfies that $$L_M(F_n)=L_M(F_{{\kappa}1})\;*_M\;L_M(F_{{\kappa}2})$$, whenerver $n={\kappa}_1+{\kappa}_2\;for\;n,\;{\kappa}_1,\;{\kappa}_2{\in}\mathbb{N}$.

  • Off-axis color shift in the dark state and gray scale inversion in an in-plane switching (IPS) liquid crystal display (LCD) device were investigated. Analyses were performed using the Poincar$\acute{e}$ sphere representation. The results show that color shift in the dark state and gray scale inversion in an IPS LCD can be reduced by using a biaxial film. We confirmed the extent of these improvements by measuring the optical performance of a fabricated IPS LCD.
