This study is providing Modified DRASTIC Model to which lineament density and land use are added as additional factors using geographic infomation system(GIS). and then to evaluate groundwater contamination potential of Pyungtek-Gun area in Kyunggi-Do. In this study. the reason for using additional factors is because. in case of lineament density. when we consider that most of aquifer is bedrock aquifer in hydrogeologic environment of the Korea, lineament is very important to flow of groundwater and contamination material. and because land use can reflect indirectly impact of point or non_point source in study area. For statistical analysis. vector coverage per each factor is converted to grid layer and after each correlation coefficient between factors, covariance, variance. eigenvalue and eigenvector by principal component analysis of 3 direction. are calculated. correlation between factors is analyzed. Also after correlation coefficients between general DRASTIC layer and rated lineament density layer and between general DRASTIC layer and rated land use layer are calculated. final modified DRASTIC Model is constructed by using them with each weighting. when modified DRASTIC Model was compared with general DRASTIC Model, comtamination potential in modified DRASTIC Model is fairly detailed and consequently. vulnerable area which has high contamination potential could be presented concretly.

If a tunnel is constructed below the groundwater level, the groundwater flow will occur inducing the seepage force toward the tunnel and will result in the increase of tunnel convergence. The longitudinal deformation during tunnel excavation will also be increased due to seepage pressure. A back-analysis methodology in underwater tunnel was proposed in this study based on the relative longitudinal deformation measured in-situ. Geotechnical parameters can be estimated utilizing the proposed method where the prior estimate as well as the measured convergence can be reasonably combined by adopting the Extend Bayesian Method.

To analysis the electrokinetic phenomena in the ground dependent on the way of applied electric power, such as constant current and constant voltage, the governing equations are derived considering advection, diffusion, ionmigration, and then they were formulated using by finite difference method. The developed program is verified by comparing the tested and predicted results reported in present papers. The results indicate that the slightly small electrical potential is predicted for constant current and for constant voltage pH near to the cathode was small than the test results. But the other predictions including the final suction, pH of electrolyte and cumulative flow are similar to the test results and predictions.

Geophysical surveys (electrical resistivity, self-potential, and magnetic methods) and streamwater sample analysis have been carried out at a site of tailings of waste deposits in an abandoned mine, Jangpoong, which is situated in Kowesan-Gun, Chungbuk-Do. The research was aimed at investigating the suitability of the various geophysical methods for detection of AMD (acid mine drainage) paths, and ultimately mapping of preferred AMD flow channels by incorporating the water sample analysis. Electrical resistivity section from the dipole-dipole line represents the low-resistivity zone trending northwest toward the stream nearby. The positions of the resistivity anomalies for AMD channels are well correlated to the ones from the various geophysical surveys. In addition they correspond to the sites of the higher peaks for the pH, EC, heavy metal content for the water sample data.
Groundwater flow due to intake of horizontal collector well in riverbank filtration site was analyzed by use of numerical groundwater modeling program (FEFLOW 5.1). Drawdowns of groundwater table nearby collector well were evaluated according to variations of several conditions; pumping rate, thickness of aquifer, offset distance from well to shore line of stream, conductance of streambed. It is observed that the drawdowns of groundwater table are clearly changed according to the variations of these conditions. The results of sensitive analysis shows that the thickness of alluvial aquifer and the offset distance are more sensitive than the conductance of streambed in evaluation of drawdown. This result implies that hydrogeological conditions, as like thickness of aquifer and its distribution in the site are important factors in site selection and evaluating the availability of riverbank filtration intake using horizontal collector well system. It is also revealed that numerical modeling using FEFLOW with 1-D discrete element feature can give efficient quantitative evaluation of horizontal collector well and estimation of availability of riverbank filtration site.
The applied model for this study area is WINFLOW using mite element method, It is thought that the simulation result by WINFLOW model under the steady flow state reflects well the ground water distribution within the reliability level which shows the error range of 1.1% to 8.0% from the comparison between the computed values and the observed, and analyzed that the constant head distribution is shown along the east-west direction and gentle and stable head gradient along the north-south direction. Ground water of the study area shows stable movement from the south to the stream area, and the particle trace for each location shows relatively linear shape from the upstream to the pumping location while the radius of influence according to the pumping amount shows a significant difference at the down stream area from the pumping location. The simultaneous pumping from P and P1 shows more complicated appearance, not the increase of the radius of influence than pumping from a single well P or P1, and it is analyzed that the particle path takes nearly linear form. It is known that the flow direction of the ground water and the velocity of the flow affect on the magnitude of the radius of influence of the wells from the fact that the more decreasing pattern of the ground water head is observed at the side of the well and the down stream area than the upstream area when the ground water moves from south to north regarding the radius of influence according to the pumping amount. Satisfactory results in analyses of ground water movement are obtained through the significant reduction of the physical uncertainties in the flow system as well as the relatively convenient model application using WINFLOW model which is proposed in this study.
In this study, the conduct of underground water flow system with 3 dimensions is interpreted in order to examine closely the actual condition regarding the flow of the underground water which is forecast from the tunnel segment and the interpretation result which selects the design and the construction technique of the tunnel segment was applied. Also, an obstacle to construct that relates with the underground water flow in construction duration in advance will be able to apply with information that is necessary in order to establish the countermeasure. The objective tunnel is the BEOPGI tunnel segment that is 2 parallel tunnels that are a one-way 2 lane and the parameters of the MODFLOW model executing the boring investigation and the permeability examination were presumed. The underground water flow of the excavation tunnel inside was interpreted by the MODFLOW model using the parameters which is presumed and two values which compared with calculated value and observed value are the same almost. Also, when the underground water discharge quantify that followed in tunnel excavation tries to compare, the underground water total discharge quantity from tunnel point of start until destination was presumed as 0.0269㎥/day/$m^2$.
The artificial ground freezing method is a ground amelioration technology that does not have a permanent effect on the ground. One of the key factors that determine the efficiency and design criteria of the artificial ground freezing is the groundwater flow. Therefore, in order to accurately evaluate the behavior of the artificial ground freezing, studies on the effect of water flow on the formation of ice walls must be preceded. In this paper, experimental and numerical analyses were conducted using only pure water to maximize the effect of water flow on the formation of ice walls. A hydro-thermal coupled model for freezing behavior was proposed and the accuracy of the model was verified. Through the numerical and experimental studies, the flow rate dominates not only the formation time but also the shape of the ice wall. In addition, this study proposes a method to indirectly predict the ice wall formation time, which is expected to be highly useful for a practical application where it is difficult to visually identify ice walls.

This study is characterized the groundwater flow pattern near crystalline site of Yangbook-Myeon, Gyeong-ju City, South Korea. From the time series analyses, groundwater level could be classified into 4 types reflecting the hydrogeological characteristics and rainfall pattern. The type I (DB1-1, DB1-2) may be directly influenced by rainfall pattern. The type II (DB1-3, DB1-7, KB-1, KB-2, KB-3, KB-7, KB-14, KB-15) may be influenced by rainfall event as well as groundwater flow through water-conducting features. The type III (DB-5, DB1-6, DB2-2, KB-10, KB-11, KB-13) may be predominantly happens in the crystaline rock mass, groundwater in this type flows through the minor fracture networks rather than direct effect of rainfall event. The type IV (DB1-8, KB-9) may be influenced by irregular variation of the groundwater level due to anisotropy and heterogeneity of crystalline rock.
By using a simple conceptual model, a sensitivity analysis is performed to examine the effects of changing model parameters on the model outputs, the groundwater discharge and the radius of influence, induced by tunnel construction. The results indicate that the model outputs are most sensitive to the tunnel depth and the hydraulic conductivity, and their sensitivities vary with time. It is also revealed that the sensitivity of the specific yield in- creases constantly with time, and therefore it is as important as the hydraulic conductivity for constructing a wet-system tunnel. A transient model is suggested to simulate the stepwise tunnel excavation and the watertight lining. The model is used for a tunnel construction site to predict groundwater mow into the tunnel and the transient response of the surrounding aquifer system. The predicted results are highly sensitive to the hydraulic conductivites assigned by model calibration. Thus, a postaudit should be made to reduce the uncertainty of the predictive model.
