반복수평재하시험을 통한 단일형현장타설말뚝의 거동분석 (Analysis of Horizontal Behavior of a Single Column/Shaft by Horizontal Two-way Pile Load Test)

  • A single Column/Shaft which extended the pile to the column of the bridge with same diameter has better safety and economical profit, but it usually has larger lateral displacement due to lateral loads such as wind, earthquake, wave, etc. A series of horizontal pile load testing were performed to study the lateral behavior of single column/shaft with varying different free lengths and embedded pile lengths. Eight instrumented test piles were cast-in-placed by bonding strain gauges at certain locations on both faces of the pile to measure bending moment, from two-way loadings. Linear variable differential transformers(LVDTs) were installed to measure the lateral pile displacement. Based on this, it is found that the test single column/shaft with different free lengths shows different failure modes. If the test pile has a longer free length, the failure occurs at the near the ground surface, but the shorter one's failure occurs at the below the ground surface.

Development of an Electrostatic Drop-On-Demand inkjet Device for Display Fabrication Process

  • This paper presents a novel electrostatic drop-on-demand inkjet device featured by a MEMS fabricated pole-type and hole-type nozzle with tube shaped orifice and investigates the feasibility of applying the inkjet device to display fabrication process. The electric voltage signal applied to the ring shaped upper electrode plate, against the hole-shaped ground or pole-shaped ground, referred here pole-type and hole-type nozzle respectively, allows ejection of small droplet to take place: That is, a tiny droplet is taken away from the peak of the mountain shaped liquid meniscus formed at the nozzle orifice. It is verified experimentally that the use of the pole type nozzle allows a stable and sustainable micro-dripping mode of droplet ejection for a wider range of applied voltages and of liquid viscosities. This demonstrates a feasibility of electrostatic drop-on-demand inkjet device as a disruptive alternative to conventional print heads such as thermal bubble or piezoelectric inkjet heads.

  • Space Test Department at KARI(Korea Aerospace Research Institute) plans to carry out the GVT(Ground Vibration Test) for the KSR(Korea Sounding Rocket)-III FM(Flight Model) which is being developed by Space Technology R&D Division. KSR-III will be an intermediate to the launch vehicle capable of carrying satellites to their orbits. GVT offers very important information to predict the behavior of KSR in its operation, and to develop the flight control and aerodynamic analysis. For development of test facilities, testing and analysis methods which can be used for the future test, Space Test Department has performed the GVT with KSR-II PFM(Proto-Flight Model) at Satellite Integration & Test Center of KARl This paper discusses the procedures, techniques and the results of it. In this test, to simulate free-free condition, test object hung in the air by 4 bungee cords specially devised. The GVT was carried out using pure random excitation technique with MIMO(Multi-Input-Multi-Output) method with three electromagnetic shakers, and poly-reference parameter estimation was used to identify the modal parameters. As the result of the test, 11 mode shapes and modal parameters below 200㎐ were identified and compared with analytical results.

  • The location based service means the service using the location information and the service used based on the location information comes into the spotlight as the critical information of the future mode townsman ubiquitous-City construction. LBS settles down as the core element of ITS or the telematics as the cutting edge technology appearing according to the power generation of the mobile communication technology and recently gradually broadens a range to the public safety service including the distribution management, the asset management, a children and old and the weak protection means, the disaster preparation rescue service like the E-911 of U.S. In the national, the technical regulations about the ground wave LBS was established at November 2005 for the first time in the country. but it actually operated and problems were deduced. Therefore, in this paper, domestic and foreign LBS usage trend and technical standards case try to be analyzed for the revision of the technical regulations of the ground wave LBS serviced in the national and the national technical standards bill for the revision tries to be prepared based on this.

비평형 2.5 난류모델을 이용한 라그란지안 입자 확산모델 개발 (Development of Lagrangian Particle Dispersion Model Based on a Non-equilibrium 2.5 Level Closure Turbulence Model)

  • A Lagrangian particle dispersion mode l(LPDM) coupled with the prognostic flow model based on nonequilibrium level 2.5 turbulence closure has been dcveloped to simulate the dispersion from an elevated emission source. The proposed model did not require any empirical formula or data for the turbulent statistics such as velocity variances and Lagrangian time scales since the turbulence properties for LPDM were calculated from results of the flow model. The LPDM was validated by comparing the model results against the wind tunnel tracer experiment and ISCST3 model. The calculated wind profile and turbulent velocity variances were in good agreement with those measured in the wind tunnel. The ground level concentrations along the plume centerline as well as the dispersion codfficients also showed good agreement in comparison with the wind tunnel tracer experiment. There were some discrepancies on the horizontal spread of the plume in comparison with the ISCST3 but the maximum ground level concentrations were in a good confidence range. The results of comparisons suggested that the proposed LPDM with the flow model was an effective tool to simulate the dispersion in the flow situation where the turbulent characteristics were not available in advance.

Field Measurements of the New CCTV Tower in Beijing

  • The emergence of a growing number of tall buildings, often with unusual shapes and innovative structural systems, has led to the realization of the need for and the importance of field measurements. The new China Central Television (CCTV) Tower in Beijing is one of tall buildings with a highly unusual shape and a complex structural system, requiring field measurements to identify its dynamic characteristics for the subsequent dynamic analysis of the tower under wind excitation, seismic-induced ground motion and traffic-induced ground motion. The structural system and the finite element model of the CCTV Tower are first introduced in this paper. The computed natural frequencies and mode shapes are then presented as a reference for the field measurement. After introducing the arrangement of the ambient vibration measurement, the field measured natural frequencies and damping ratios of the CCTV Tower are presented and the measured natural frequencies are finally compared with the computed ones. It was found that the structural damping ratios of the CCTV Tower are small and the computed natural frequencies are smaller than the measured ones by about 12~17%.

수동 바이패스 필터를 이용한 단상 무변압기형 인버터 (Single-Phase Transformerless Inverter using Passive Bypass Filter)

  • Previous single-phase transformerless inverters used active bypass switching circuits that need auxiliary power switches to minimize ground leakage current. However, switching and gate driving losses are increased due to the use of additional power switches. To cope with this drawback, this work proposes a transformerless inverter using a passive bypass filter without any auxiliary power switch. The operation and control of the proposed inverter are described. The ground leakage current characteristics are analyzed for the proposed inverter with the passive bypass filter. The experimental results of the proposed inverter for a 1.0kW prototype system are presented.

무인 헬기 자동 착륙을 위한 3차원 위치 추적 시스템 (Three-Dimensional Location Tracking System for Automatic Landing of an Unmanned Helicopter)

  • This paper describes a location tracking system to guide landing process of an Unmanned Helicopter(UMH) exploiting MIT Cricket nodes. For automatic landing of a UMH, a precise positioning system is indispensable. However, GPS(Global Positioning System) is inadequate for tracking the three dimensional position of a UMH because of large positioning errors. The Cricket systems use Time-Difference-of-Arrival(TDoA) method with ultrasonic and RF(Radio Frequency) signals to measure distances. They operate in passive mode in that a listener attached to a moving device receives distance signals from several beacons located at fixed points on ground. Inevitably, this passive type of implementation causes large disturbances in measuring distances between beacons and the listener due to wind blow from propeller and turbulence of UMH body. To cope with this problem, we proposed active type of implementation for positioning a UMH. In this implementation, a beacon is set up at UMH body and four listeners are located at ground area at least where the UMH will land. A pair of Ultrasonic and RF signals from the beacon arrives at several listeners to calculate the position of the UMH. The distance signals among listeners are synchronized with a counter value appended to each distance signals from the beacon.

Harmonic Suppressed Dual-Band Bandpass Filter with Independently Tunable Center Frequencies and Bandwidths

  • This paper presented a novel approach for the design of a tunable dual-band bandpass filter (BPF) with independently tunable passband center frequencies and bandwidths. The newly proposed dual-band filter principally comprised two dual-mode single band filters using common input/output lines. Each single BPF was realized using a varactor-loaded transmission line resonator. To suppress the harmonics over a broad bandwidth, a defected ground structure was used at the input/output feeding lines. From the experimental results, it was found that the proposed filter exhibited the first passband center frequency tunable range from 1.48 to 1.8 GHz with a 3-dB fractional bandwidth (FBW) variation from 5.76% to 8.55%, while the second passband center's frequency tunable range was 2.40 to 2.88 GHz with a 3-dB FBW variation from 8.28% to 12.42%. The measured results of the proposed filters showed a rejection level of 19 dB up to more than 10 times the highest center frequency of the first passband.

2단 가열식 지열시스템의 경제성 분석 (An Economic Analysis of a Secondary Waste Heat Recovery Geothermal Heating System)

  • This paper provides an economic analysis of a new geothermal heat pump system that reuses condenser waste heat from a Ground Source Heat Pump ($GSHP_{ch}$) to provide energy for a hot water Ground Source heat pump ($GSHP_{hw}$). After conducting feasibility tests using GLD and TRNSYS simulations, the proposed system was effectively installed and thoroughly tested. We observe that 1) the Coefficient of Performance (COP) of the $GSHP_{hw}$ and the $GSHP_{ch}$ during cooling mode improves by up to 62% and 7%, respectively; 2) the number of bore holes can be reduced by two; and 3) the hot water supply temperature of the $GSHP_{hw}$ increases by up to $60^{\circ}C$. We further conclude that 1) the reduction of two bore holes can save approximately ten million Won from the initial cost investment; and 2) the increased COP of the $GSHP_{hw}$ can save approximately one million Won in annual electricity costs.
