  • The stereo geometry establishment based on the precise sensor modeling is prerequisite for accurate stereo data processing. Ground control points are generally required for the accurate sensor modeling though it is not possible over the area where the accessibility is limited or reference data is not available. For the areas, the relative orientation should be carried out to improve the geometric consistency between the stereo data though it does not improve the absolute positional accuracy. The relative orientation requires conjugate points that are well distributed over the entire image region. Therefore the automatic conjugate point extraction is required because the manual operation is labor-intensive. In this study, we applied the method consisting of the key point extraction, the search space minimization based on the epipolar line, and the rigorous outlier detection based on the RPCs (Rational Polynomial Coefficients) bias compensation modeling. We tested different parameters of window sizes for Kompsat-2 across track stereo data and analyzed the RPCs precision after the bias compensation for the cases whether the epipolar line information is used or not. The experimental results showed that matching outliers were inevitable for the different matching parameterization but they were successfully detected and removed with the rigorous method for sub-pixel level of stereo RPCs precision.

  • A numerical formula that presents relationship between a point of a satellite image and its ground position is called a sensor model. For precise geolocation of satellite images, we need an error-free sensor model. However, the sensor model based on GOES ephemeris data has some error, in particular after Image Motion Compensation (IMC) mechanism has been turned off. To solve this problem, we investigate three sensor models: Collinearity model, Direct Linear Transform (DLT) model and Orbit-based model. We apply matching between GOES images and global coastline database and use successful results as control points. With control points we improve the initial image geolocation accuracy using the three models. We compare results from three sensor models that are applied to GOES-9 images. As a result, a suitable sensor model for precise geolocation of GOES-9 images is proposed.

  • Icing cloud generation system was developed to perform the in-flight icing simulation test for T-50 Supersonic Jet Trainer on the ground. The developed system successfully generated the almost natural icing cloud in the super-cooled state (liquid state) below freezing point and with the required LWC (Liquid Water Content). For full-scale aircraft icing test, an icing scaling method was adopted due to the limitation of wind generation speed with open-circuit type blower and its applicability was experimentally verified. Under the required in-flight icing condition based on the icing scaling method, T-50 aircraft subsystems were successfully operated and functionally checked.

  • This paper proposes an open-phase fault control system using 3-phase neutral voltage. The proposed control system is designed as a new topology which uses the potential difference between neutral point and ground(G) of three phase. And the open-phase detection system is configured to three resistance devices(Y-wiring) of the same capacity to each line of three phase power source R,S,T. This paper also designs a mobile phone application for remote alarm of open-phase fault.

  • A sliding accident on the road have a high percentage by road freezing, especially, it is often appeared at bridges and tunnel of freezing areas. Thus, the stability of road operations is enhanced by preventing a partial freezing phenomenon. According to the geothermal snow melting system analysis, a pattern of thermal conductivity is found out about pavement materials of concrete and asphalt when it is buried. For the feasibility study on geothermal snow melting system, analysis of the ground melting point when operating system, life evaluation of pavements and safety evaluation of pipes are performed.

  • This paper mainly deals with the dynamic walking of a biped robot. At first, in order to walk in various environments, it is desirable to adapt to such ground conditions with a suitable foot motion, and maintain the stability of the robot by a smooth hip motion. A method to plan a walking pattern consisting of a foot trajectory and a hip trajectory is presented. The effectiveness of the proposed method is illustrated by simulation results. Secondly, the paper brings forward a balance control technique based on off-line walking pattern with real-time modification. At last, the concept of Zero Moment Point (ZMP) is used to evaluate dynamic stability.

  • Although the uninhabitable islands are part of national property, those are not systematically managed and controlled in Korea. In this study, the positioning standards for uninhabitable islands are suggested with proper surveying methods. To establish the standards, the current status on managing the uninhabitable islands in foreign countries are investigated and analyzed. It was found that it is necessary to establish the ocean geodetic network based on a sound and systematic plan. In Korea, the ocean geodetic network can be established by combining the National control point and territorial sea control points. We suggested that one or two third or fourth control points are required to be established in total of 2,679 islands with connection to the 47and 249 first and second-order control points. It is expected that this network will provide ground control points for aerial and satellite images for large scale ocean mapping. In addition, close cooperation among the related departments such as Ministry of Construction & Transportation, National Geographic Information Institute, Ministry of Government Administration and Home Affairs, Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries, and Ministry of Environment is necessary for successful management on uninhabitable islands.

  • In this paper, stable and robust dynamic walking for a biped motion is proposed. To success this objective, the following structures are processed. In this paper, the proposed control method is one that adjusts actual zero moment position to move to the closest possible point in the stable area instead of following desired zero moment position. This minimizes energy consumption with the smallest joint movements. The proposed control method makes mechanical energy that drives lower limb of the bipedal robot efficient. In this paper, walking experiment is carried out with the three control structures mentioned above. The trajectory generated by off-line is illustrated by performing to walking on flat ground. experiment with an obstacle whose height is lower than that of trajectory is executed to validate dynamic motion.
