In this research, the ground contact opportunity for the fictitious low lunar orbiter is analyzed to prepare for a future Korean lunar orbiter mission. The ground contact opportunity is basically derived from geometrical relations between the typical ground stations at the Earth, the relative positions of the Earth and Moon, and finally, the lunar orbiter itself. Both the cut-off angle and the orbiter's Line of Sight (LOS) conditions (weather orbiter is located at near or far side of the Moon seen from the Earth) are considered to determine the ground contact opportunities. Four KOMPSAT Ground Stations (KGSs) are assumed to be Korea's future Near Earth Networks (NENs) to support lunar missions, and world-wide separated Deep Space Networks (DSNs) are also included during the contact availability analysis. As a result, it is concluded that about 138 times of contact will be made between the orbiter and the Daejeon station during 27.3 days of prediction time span. If these contact times are converted into contact duration, the duration is found to be about 8.55 days, about 31.31% of 27.3 days. It is discovered that selected four KGSs cannot provide continuous tracking of the lunar orbiter, meaning that international collaboration is necessary to track Korea's future lunar orbiter effectively. Possible combinations of world-wide separated DSNs are also suggested to compensate for the lack of contact availability with only four KGSs, as with primary and backup station concepts. The provided algorithm can be easily modified to support any type of orbit around the Moon, and therefore, the presented results could aid further progress in the design field of Korea's lunar orbiter missions.
In this paper, roll behavior of three planar half car models are compared. The first model is a simple model whose contact point between a wheel and the ground is assumed to be fixed with a revolute joint. The second model is a modified model of the fIrst model, whose wheel tread width can vary. In this model, the instant center of a wheel with respect to the ground, which is crucial to find the roll center, is assumed to be at the contact point of a wheel and the ground. The last model uses the pole of a wheel with respect to the ground for small displacement as the instant center of a wheel with respect to the ground. Loci of the center of gravity point, the fixed and the moving centrodes which are traces of roll center position in the ground and the body frame respectively, wheel contact points, and instant centers of a wheel with respect to the ground are calculated.

Tire vibration modes are known to play a key role in vehicle ride and comfort characteristics. Inputs to the tire such as impacts, rough road surface, tire nonuniformities, and tread patterns can potentially excite tire vibration. In this study, experimental modal analysis on the tire in ground contact are performed by a 3-D impact at the center of contact patch to investigate which modes of tire influence the vibration of wheel and axle. Through the experiment, the vibration transmission properties from tire to axle are examined. And we have compared the influential tire modes when the tire is excited by a vertical impact with those when excited by the 3-D impact. Additionally, the modes of ground contact tire are compared with those of the suspended tire.

Tire vibration modes are known to play a key role in vehicle ride and comfort characteristics. Inputs to the tire such as impacts, rough road surface, tire nonuniformities, and tread patterns can potentially excite tire vibration. In this study, experimental modal analysis on the tire with ground contact are performed by impacting the tire in the radial direction at the center of contact patch. To investigate which modes of tire influence the vibration of wheel and axle when the tire is in contact with ground, the vibration characteristics such as frequency response functions, natural frequencies and their mode shapes from tire to wheel/axle are examined.
A numerical method is presented for the dynamic analysis of military tracked vehicles of high mobility. To compute the impulsive dynamic contact forces which occur when a vehicle passes on a ground obstacle, the track is modeled as the combination of elastic links interconected by pin joints. The mass of each track link, the elastic elongation of a track link between pin joints by the track tension, and the elastic spring effects on the upper and lower surfaces of each track link have been considered in the equations of motion. And the chassis, torsion bar arms, and road wheels of the vehicle are modeled as the rigid multi bodies connected with kinematic constraints. The contact positions and the contact forces between the road wheels and track, and the ground and the the track are simultaneously computed with the solution of the equations of motions of the vehicle consisting of the multibodies. The iterative scheme for the solution of the multi body dynamics of the tracked vehicle is presented and the numerical simulations are conducted.
This paper presents dynamic responses of structures with sliding base which limits the translation of external loads from ground excitation. A discrete element model based on the discontinuous deformation analysis method is proposed to study this sliding boundary problem. The sliding base is simulated using sets of fictitious contact springs along the sliding interface. The set of contact spring is to translate friction force from ground to superstructure. Validity of the proposed model is examined by the closed-form solutions of an idealized mass-spring structural model subjected to harmonic ground excitation. This model is also applied to a problem of a three-story structural model subjected to the ground excitation of 1940 El Centro earthquake. Analyses of both sliding-base and fixed-base conditions are performed as comparisons. This study shows that using this model can simulate the dynamic response of a sliding structure with frictional cut-off quite accurately. Results reveal that lowering the frictional coefficient of the sliding joint will reduce the peak responses. The structure responses in little deformation, but it displaces at the end of excitation.
Objective:This research analyzed the lower-limb motion in kinetic and kinematic way while walking on various terrains to develop Foot-Ground Contact Detection (FGCD) algorithm using the Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU). Background: To estimate the location of human in GPS-denied environments, it is well known that the lower-limb kinematics based on IMU sensors, and pressure insoles are very useful. IMU is mainly used to solve the lower-limb kinematics, and pressure insole are mainly used to detect the foot-ground contacts in stance phase. However, the use of multiple sensors are not desirable in most cases. Therefore, only IMU based FGCD can be an efficient method. Method: Orientation and acceleration of lower-limb of 10 participants were measured using IMU while walking on flat ground, ascending and descending slope and stairs. And the inertial information showing significant changes at the Heel strike (HS), Full contact (FC), Heel off (HO) and Toe off (TO) was analyzed. Results: The results confirm that pitch angle, rate of pitch angle of foot and shank, and acceleration in x, z directions of the foot are useful in detecting the four different contacts in five different walking terrain. Conclusion: IMU based FGCD Algorithm considering all walking terrain possible in daily life was successfully developed based on all IMU output signals showing significant changes at the four steps of stance phase. Application: The information of the contact between foot and ground can be used for solving lower-limb kinematics to estimating an individual's location and walking speed.

Methods : 18 Person of subject has participated this study, let subject to walk in ground and treadmill in order to gain data of foot distribution and knee, ankle joint angle using by parotec system. and Dartfish system. Walking velocity was constrained by 2Km/h and more 10sec. Date analysis was used by paired-t test using SPSS/PC statistical programs for window. Results : Result show that total contact times has shown symmetry between both legs, and more increase of left foot pressure in treadmill walking. Foot pressure of treadmill walking was significantly decreased in right hind foot and fore foot and hallux area. The ankle joint angle of treadmill walking was significantly decreased in initial contact phase. Conclusion : Results of this study show that foot pressure of treadmill walking was more decreased than ground walking in right hind foot and fore foot, hallux area. And the ankle joint angle of treadmill walking was significantly decreased in initial contact phase.
When a structure is built on the consolidation ground, the instant elastic deflection occures according to the characteristics of the ground and the load on it. And the corresponding contact pressure is established. But, as time passes, the secondary consolidating deflection is added to the instant elastic deflection, the upper structure, due to its flexural rigidity, resist to the additional curvature. So the variation of the contact pressure occurs. And this new contact pressure exerts influence on the consolidation form again. The new consolidation form exerts influence on the contact pressure in return. This kind of interaction continues till all the consolidation of the ground is finished. So the consolidation problem can not be definded as the linear problem. This paper intends to scheme an approximate iteration method to analyse this non-linear interaction problem between the upper structure and the lower consolidation ground which supports the former.
This paper presents the comparison and analysis of the power supply system of a Maglev train and conventional electric railway. Even though all Maglev trains have batteries on their vehicles, electric power supply from the ground side is necessary for levitation, propulsion, on-board electrical equipment, battery recharging, and so on. At low speeds up to $100{\sim}150(km/h)$, the Maglev train, generally, uses a mechanical contact, a current collector as same as conventional electric railway. However, at high speeds, the Maglev train can no longer obtain power from the ground side by using a mechanical contact. Therefore, high speed Maglev trains use their own way to deliver the power to the vehicle from the ground. In this paper, the power supply systems of the german, japanese, and korean low- and high-speed Maglev trains have been reviewed.
