THREE-BODY ABRASIVE WEAR IN A BALL-CRATERING TEST WITH LARGE ABRASIVE PARTICLES

  • Three-body abrasive wear resistance of mild steel, low alloy steel (Bisalloy) and 27%Cr white cast iron was investigated using a ball-cratering test. Glass beads, silica sand, quartz and alumina abrasive particles with sizes larger than $100{\mu}m$ were used to make slurries. It was found that the wear rates of all three materials tested increased with time when angular abrasive particles were used and were rather constant when round particles were used. This increase in wear rates was mainly due to the gradual increase in ball surface roughness with testing time. Abrasive particles with higher angularity caused higher ball surface roughness. Mild steel and Bisalloy were more affected by this ball surface roughness changes than the hard white cast iron. Generally, three-body rolling wear dominated. The contribution of two-body grooving wear increased when the ball roughness was significant. More grooves were found when round particles were used or the size of the particles was decreased.

  • 레이저 가공기술은 공정 적용이 용이하고 응용 분야가 넓어 산업 전반에 걸쳐 널리 사용되고 있다. 특히, 태양전지 제조공정에서는 cutting, grooving, doping, ablation등의 분야에 활발하게 적용되고 있으며 최근에는 다양한 종류의 레이저를 기술을 이용하여 효율 향상과 원가 절감을 위해 많은 기관에서 활발하게 연구를 진행하고 있다. 본 연구에서는 실리콘웨이퍼에 특정 파장의 레이저를 조사하여 실리콘웨이퍼 표면의 용융과 고상화를 통해 구조적, 전기적 특성 변화를 확인하였다. Si wafer의 표면은 레이저 조사 조건에 의해 다결정화 하며 레이저의 power와 frequency, scan speed등을 조절하여 다결정 실리콘 영역의 형성 깊이를 조절 할 수 있다. 다결정화 된 부분의 구조적 특성은 SED과 XRD를 이용하여 측정하였으며, 전기적 특성은 면저항 측정을 통하여 실시하였다. 또한 이러한 특성을 이용하여 태양전지 제조 공정의 적용가능성을 평가하였다.

  • For precise micro-grooving and surface machining, a mechanism for creating elliptical vibration cutting (EVC) motion is proposed which uses two parallel piezoelectric actuators. And based on its kinematical analysis, variations of EVC path are investigated as a function of dimensional changes in the mechanism, phase difference and amplitude of excitation sinusoidal voltages. Using the proposed PZT mechanism, various types of two dimensional EVC paths including one dimensional vibration cutting path along the cutting direction and thrust direction can be easily obtained by changing the phase lag, the amplitude of the piezoelectric actuators, and the dimension of the mechanism.

  • Micro injection molding is a branch of micro system technology and has been under development for the mass manufacture of micro parts. Enhanced technological products like micro optical devices are entering the market. This paper presents fundamental research on the injection molding technique in micro fabrication. In order to successful manufacturing of micro plastic parts, it is necessary to research for development of micro-injection machine, machining of micro mold, decision of optimum injection conditions and the research for polymer material. Therefore in this study, in order to machining of micro mold, a mold core with microscopic V-shaped groove was tooled by ultra-precise tooling machine. The transcription experiments with a polymer, PMMA resin on the surface of core with Ni plating were carried out and surface profile of injected parts was measured with AFM.

  • For precise micro-grooving and surface machining, ultrasonic cyclic elliptical cutting is proposed using two parallel piezoelectric actuators. The piezoelectric actuators are energized by sinusoidal voltages of varying phase which is essenstial to generating elliptical cutting. Experimental setup is composed of ultrasonic motor, single crystal diamond cutting tool, and precise motorized xyz stage. It is confirmed experimentally that the cutting performance, in terms of the cutting force, the burr formation, and the discontinuous chip formation is improved remarkably by applying ultrasonic elliptical vibration cutting.

  • 3D micro scaled shapes are fabricated with the method of direct writing and superposing grooving in ambient air using femto-second laser pulses and copper, aiming at establishing an industrially useful femto-second laser processing machine to be able to fabricate three dimensional micro-scale structures, especially micro scaled molds, and processing techniques. For the several advantages, there is no thermally influenced region around the area irradiated by the laser beam and surfaces irradiated laser beam are smooth and substances ablated to form are no attached on the surface of works and so on, the femto-second laser technology is anticipated for advanced micro/nano precision technology.

  • 결정질 태양전지 제작 시 실리콘 기판 표면의 전극형성은 주로 스크린 프린트를 이용하여 형성되고 있다. 이는 squeeze 와 실리콘 기판과의 직접 접촉으로 인하여 기판의 파손이 야기 될 수 있으며, 보다 미세한 전극 형성이 어려운 단점이 있다. 본 연구에서는 비접촉식 잉크젯 프린팅을 이용한 태양전지의 전극형성에 관하여 기술하였으며, 고효율 태양전지를 제작하기 위해 레이저를 이용한 grooving 형성과 전극의 패턴에 따른 반사방지막층 제거를 통하여 Buried contact cell 제작을 연구하였다. 이를 통해 전극의 선 폭을 $45{\mu}m$로 구현하였으며, 나노 크기의 입자 형태를 띤 Ag 잉크를 이용하여 인쇄하였다.

  • For Shock obsorber piston led is launched to the market through luring, milling, grooving, rolling, inspection and finally packing processes, To this time around 11 items, that is, out diameter and length etc..for the piston lod are inspected strictly as a total inspection. Piston Lod is being produced 30,000 a day and its excessively repeating inspection is getting induce repetition strain injury and reduce production rate as fatigue accumulation of worker increase inspection errors. Therefore, for the inspection process is severely needed a progressive improvement through the automation. In this study, we consider automation method of piston led inspection process and suggest an efficient automation strategy as improving the various problems in present manual inspection way.

  • Langerhans' cell histiocytosis is a relatively rare disorder of children, characterized by abnormal proliferation of Langerhans' cells. It usually presents as multiple osteolytic lesion with lymphadenopathy or cutaneous manifestations. We experienced a case of Langerhans' cell histiocytosis involving bone and lymph node, diagnosed by fine needle aspiration cytology of the lymph node. The patient was a 10-year old girl with left inguinal lymphadenopathy. Fine needle aspiration cytology from the lymph node disclosed very cellular smear consisted of Langerhans' cells, eosinophils and lymphocytes. The Langerhans' cells had eccentric oval to reniform shape nuclei with grooving and abundant pale cytoplasm. The diagnosis was confirmed later by histologic study of bone lesion.

  • Production Information System make it possible to check and control the information of manufacturing processes. Based on this information companies are able to act to the price strategy and marketing strategy timely. In this study we will examine developing the MES(Manufacturing Execution System) as Production Information System in the Automobile Shock Absorber Piston rod Manufacturing Process of which processes are composed of heat treatment, lathing, grooving, milling, rolling, inspection and packing processes in order to control its production information efficiently.
