High-Pass-Filter-Based Virtual Impedance Control for LCL-filtered Inverters Under Weak Grid

  • Voltage feed-forward control (VFFC) is widely used in LCL-type grid-tied inverters due to its advantages in terms of disturbance rejection performance and fast dynamic response. However, VFFC may worsen the stability of inverters under weak grid conditions. It is revealed in this paper that a large phase-lag in the low-frequency range is introduced by VFFC, which reduces the phase margin significantly and leads to instability. To address this problem, a novel virtual-impedance-based control, where a phase-lead is introduced into the low-frequency area to compensate for the phase lag caused by VFFC, is proposed to improve system stability. The proposed control is realized with a high-pass filter, without high-order-derivative components. It features easy implementation and good noise immunity. A detailed design procedure for the virtual impedance control is presented. Both theoretical analysis and experimental results verify the effectiveness of the control proposed.

  • The Grid code is being strengthen as increase of renewable energy ratio. Especially, the grid connection regulations are continuously being updated for stable operation of power grids. Static grid support and Dynamic grid support must make an accurate measure at Grid connected point because they needs control algorithm individually. It has to exactly measure voltage including switching ripple at the output of the inverter generating system. In addition, it is necessary to have an accurate voltage measurement when the situation rapidly changing the grid impedance is caused by the input of serial impedance of transformer and line impedance as well as Grid Fault Device. In this paper, We propose a new detection method of grid voltage to calculate accurately the r.m.s voltage of the grid connection point along the standard required by the low voltage regulation. We verified performance through simulation grid fault device.

Grid-Based Localization of a Mobile Robot Using Sonar Sensors

  • This paper presents a technique for localization of a mobile robot using sonar sensors. Localization is the continual provision of knowledges of position that are deduced from its a priori position estimation. The environment of a robot is modeled by a two-dimensional grid map. We define a physically based sonar sensor model and employ an extended Kalman filter to estimate positions of the robot. Since the approach does not rely on an exact geometric model of an object, it is very simple and offers sufficient generality such that integration with concurrent mapping and localizing can be achieved without major modifications. The performance and simplicity of the approach are demonstrated with the results produced by sets of experiments using a mobile robot equipped with sonar sensors.

  • This paper presents a robust current control in a three phase grid connected inverter using an LCL filter. This controller is based on the optimal control theory and typically designed in a complex-valued state-space. The proposed current controller has a robust tracking performance for the grid voltage harmonics and robustness to parameter error and load variation. Finally, the simulation results are presented to verify the validity of the proposed method.

  • In this paper, we have estimated voice traffics using Kalman-filtering for upcoming years and evaluated performance of a grid topology circuit switched network using above outcomes. Since measurement errors and modeling errors are considered in Kalman-filtering, the system is estimated more accurately than by using any other estimation methods. A grid topology circuit switched network has alternative routing paths, therefore it is more reliable than any other networks. In this paper, we have calculated the call blocking probabilities, which is the key measuremens of performance evaluation in circuit switched networks. by using estimated voice traffics for upcoming years.

  • In a single-phase grid-connected power system consisting of a dc-dc converter and a dc-ac converter, the current drawn from renewable energy sources has a tendency to be pulsated and contains double-fundamental frequency ripple components, which results in several drawback such as a power harvesting loss and a shortening of the energy source's life. This paper presents a new double-fundamental current reduction-scheme with a fast dc-link voltage loop for two-stage dc-dc-ac grid connected systems. In the frequency domain, an adequate control design is performed based on the small-signal transfer function of a two-stage dc-dc-ac converter. To verify the effectiveness of proposed control algorithm, a 1 kW hardware prototype has been built and experimental results are presented.

  • This study proposes a grid voltage estimation scheme without a phase delay in the voltage-sensorless control of a grid-connected inverter to enhance its economic feasibility, such as manufacturing cost and system complexity. The proposed scheme estimates grid voltages using a disturbance observer (DOB)-based current controller to control the grid-connected inverter without grid-side voltage sensors. The proposed voltage-sensorless control scheme can be applied successfully to grid-connected inverters, which should be operated with synchronization to the grid, considering the phase angle of the grid can be effectively detected through estimating the grid voltages by DOB. However, a problem associated with the phase delay in estimated grid voltages remains because the DOB has dynamic behavior similar to low-pass filter. Hence, the estimated grid voltages are compensated by a phase lead compensator to overcome the limitation. The effectiveness of the proposed control and estimation schemes is proven through simulations and experiments using a 2 kVA prototype inverter.

  • This paper presents a study of localization methods based on particle filter using 2D laser sensor measurements and road feature map information, for autonomous vehicles. In order to navigate in an urban environment, an autonomous vehicle should be able to estimate the location of the ego-vehicle with reasonable accuracy. In this study, road features such as curbs and road markings are detected to construct a grid-based feature map using 2D laser range finder measurements. Then, we describe a particle filter-based method for accurate positional estimation of the autonomous vehicle in real-time. Finally, the performance of the proposed method is verified through real road driving experiments, in comparison with accurate DGPS data as a reference.

  • This paper describes a design method of LCL filter for grid-connected three-phase PWM inverter. First, by analyzing the ripple component of phase voltages and currents according to the PWM pattern of grid-connected three-phase inverter, the RMS value of the current ripple can be calculated. Then based on the analysis, the current THD in the inverter-side can be defined. After that by analyzing the dependency between the current THD of the system and the current ripple attenuation, the parameter of LCL filter can be designed. Finally, the described LCL filter design method is verified by showing a good agreement between the target current $THD_g$ and the actual one through the simulation and experiment.

  • In this paper, a shunt active power filter (SAPF) has been used to eliminate the harmonic distortion and to improve the power quality of three-phase grid-connected power conditioning system (PCS). The adopted control strategy in active power filter system is based on the instantaneous reactive power theory (P-Q theory). Based on the theoretical analysis, the overall system of three-phase grid-connected with non-linear load PCS has been built and modeled using PSCAD$^{(R)}$/EMTDC$^{TM}$. The simulation results are shown to verify the high effective performance of the implemented SAPF in power system and to verify the reasonableness of the system structure.
