  • The main focus of this paper is the analysis of the different components of the variability for strong ground motions recorded from earthquakes produced by the Vrancea subcrustal seismic source. The analysis is performed for two ground motion prediction equations: Youngs et al. (1997) and Zhao et al. (2006), recommended within the SHARE project for the Vrancea subcrustal seismic source and which are proposed in the work of Delavaud et al. (2012) and graded best in Vacareanu et al. (2013c). The first phase of the analysis procedure consists of a grading procedure. In the second phase, the single station sigma procedure is applied for both attenuation models in order to reduce some parts of ground motion models' variability produced by the ergodic assumption. The strong ground motion database which is used throughout the study consists of over 400 accelerograms recorded from 9 Vrancea intermediate-depth seismic events. The results of the single station sigma analysis show significant reduction of the standard deviations, especially in the case of the Youngs et al. (1997) attenuation model, which is also graded better than the other selected GMPE.

  • In today's broadcasting and communication systems, many applications are converged information in a complicated manner by interworking with various networks such as satellite networks. Specifically, as broadcasting and communication systems have become more advanced in terms of technology and capacity, the increase in information assets has created new types of threats and vulnerabilities that we're not previously apparent. This paper has proposed the following methodologies for analyzing the risks and estimating the economical that could arise in broadcasting and communication convergence systems. First, the assets are prioritized by grading them according to confidentiality(copyrights), integrity, and availability. Based on such an analysis, this paper presents a model that can be used for verifying the risk variables caused by changing threats and vulnerabilities. Second, this paper presents a method for quantitatively estimating the economical caused by countermeasure costs for each time period.

  • Objective: The aims of our study were to verify the validity of the T-Scan III system (Tekscan) as an objective occlusal evaluation tool, and to assess the differences between two occlusal indexes - the peer assessment rating (PAR) index and the American Board of Orthodontics objective grading system (OGS) - by comparing the scores derived from the T-Scan III system with the two occlusal indexes and analyzing the correlations between them. Methods: The final study sample included 48 adult volunteers (39 men and 9 women, mean age $24.14{\pm}3.16years$), after excluding 29 volunteers whose occlusion could not be evaluated by the T-Scan III system due to severe skeletal or occlusal problems. PAR index and OGS scores were assessed using dental study models, and measurements of centric occlusion, protrusive movement, and lateral excursion movement were obtained via the T-Scan III system. The results were analyzed to determine correlations. Results: Occlusal analysis by the T-Scan III system was clinically reliable (p < 0.05), and the PAR index and OGS scores were significantly correlated with several measurements obtained with the T-Scan III system (p < 0.05). Conclusions: The T-Scan III system is a quantitative and reliable method for occlusal evaluation, and represents a potential substitute for occlusal indexes. Compared to the PAR index, the OGS scores of more variables were significantly correlated with the T-Scan measurements.

  • In this study, the influence of coarse aggregate size and type on chloride penetration of concrete was investigated, and the grey correlation analysis was applied to find the key influencing factor. Furthermore, the proposed 6-10-1 artificial neural network (ANN) model was constructed, and performed under the MATLAB program. Training, testing and validation of the model stages were performed using 81 experiment data sets. The results show that the aggregate type has less effect on the concrete permeability, compared with the size effect. For concrete with a lower w/b, the coarse aggregate with a larger particle size should be chose, however, for concrete with a higher w/c, the aggregate with a grading of 5-20 mm is preferred, too large or too small aggregates are adverse to concrete chloride diffusivity. A new idea for the optimum selection of aggregate to prepare concrete with a low penetration is provided. Moreover, the ANN model predicted values are compared with actual test results, and the average relative error of prediction is found to be 5.62%. ANN procedure provides guidelines to select appropriate coarse aggregate for required chloride penetration of concrete and will reduce number of trial and error, save cost and time.

  • Reinke's edema is used for describing varying degrees of chronic swelling of the vocal folds. The acoustic analysis of Reinke's edema has not been reported so far in this country. The purpose of this study is to clarify acoustic and aerodynamic characteristics of the Reinke's edema. Several acoustic evaluations & aerodynamic studies were done in 20 Reinke's edema patients and the data was compared with those of 20 normal controls. Videolaryngoscopy also was done to classify the severity in grading. We used C-Speech, Doctor speech science, and Phonatory function analyser. In C-Speech, we compared jitter, shimmer, and SNR(signal to noise ratio) of normal and Rrinke's edema patient. In Doctor speech science, we compared NNE(Glottal noise energy), speech fundamental frequency, voice quality between two groups. And in phonatory function analyser for aerodynamic function test, we compared speech intensity, airflow rate, and expiratory pressure between two groups. In conclusion, Reinke's edema patients showed lower voice pitches than normal, additionally jitter, shimmer, SNR(signal to noise ratio), NNE(Glottal noise energy), airflow rate, and expiratory pressure may be meaningful parameters for diagnosis and prognosis for treatment.

  • This study aims to provide basic data to suggest guidelines for re-education and work improvement of modelists based on the analysis of the current status of modelist work and education. A survey was conducted from January 4 to May 15, 2020, targeting 44 people working in pattern, pattern CAD, and grading in domestic apparel companies. Descriptive statistical analysis and frequency analysis using SPSS 25 were employed to analyze the status of work type, work difficulties, and re-education. For pattern production, the rate of using pattern CAD for business was high. It was found that companies mainly use YUKA CAD (63.8%), and branded companies use pattern CAD (100%). It was found that 3D CAD is mostly employed by vendors (88.9%), and CLO (90%) is mainly used. Regarding difficulties in pattern making, it was found that they experienced difficulties with stretchable materials owing to the amount of shrinkage and sagging of the fabric. The work problem was the lack of requisite working hours owing to the volume of work. Regarding future re-education, 63.6% of the total respondents indicated that they required a course related to pattern correction and material. Moreover, it was found that re-education was necessary to upgrade technology and acquire new knowledge, however, information on re-education was insufficient.

  • Information about retinal blood vessels can be used in grading disease severity or as part of the process of automated diagnosis of diseases with ocular menifestations. In this paper, we address the problem of detecting retinal blood vessels and optic disk (papilla) in eye-fundus images. We introduce an algorithm for feature extraction based on Fuzzy Clustering algorithm (fuzzy c-means). A method of finding the optic disk (papilla) is proposed in the eye-fundus images. Additionally, the inrormations such as position and area of the optic disk are extracted. The results are compared to those obtained from other methods. The automatic detection of retinal blood vessels and optic disk in the eye-rundus images could help physicians in diagnosing ocular diseases.
