The Effects of the Special Supplementary Mathematics Class on Affective Characteristics in Middle School (중학교 수학과 특별보충과정이 학생의 정의적 특성에 미치는 효과 분석)

  • The purpose of this study is to investigate the effect of Special Supplementary Mathematics Class on self-efficiency and fear of mathematics in middle school. For this study, the students involved in Special Supplementary Mathematics Classes in middle school took a pre-test and an post-test. According to the results, First, the students showed increased self-efficacy in mathematics after the Special Supplementary Mathematics Class. Second, the students showed a decreased fear of mathematics after the Special Supplementary Mathematics Class. Third, there were no significant differences between boys and girls in the effect of Special Supplementary Mathematics Classes on self-efficacy and fear of mathematics. Fourth, there were significant differences between Grade 2 and Grade 3, and between Grade 1 and Grade 2 in the effect of Special Supplementary Mathematics Classes on self-efficacy in Mathematics.

Influences of Grading and Grade Shape in Aggregates on the Strength and Absorption of Cement Mortar Products (골재의 입도 및 입형이 제품용 시멘트 모르타르의 강도 및 흡수율에 미치는 영향)

  • The quality of cement mortar products largely depends on various work conditions, specially on the grading and grade shape of aggregates. However, the effect of grading and grade shape on the quality is not considered by both KS codes and production processes, resulting in the increase of the possibility of quality degradation. The objective of this study was to investigate the effect of grading and grade shape on the strength and absorption characteristics of cement mortar products. Flexural and compressive strength increased with the increase of fineness modulus and W/C. The strength increase was measured larger with river sand than with crushed sand. Absorption tended to decrease with the increase of fineness modulus and W/C, but did not affected by the source of sand.

  • This experiment was conducted to investigate the effect of physical and chemical characteristics of lower grade tobacco with treatment of ozone. In ozonization of low grade tobacco, optimum moisture was 20 percentage, and decrease ratio of content of tobacco leaf was 30 percentage in nicotine , 15.9 percentage in total volatile base, 10.5 percentage in petroleum-ether-extract, 29.5 percentage in solanesol, and decrease ratio of cigarette smoke composition was 31 percentage in nicotine, 6.08 percentage in tar.

Quality of steak restructured from beef trimmings containing microbial transglutaminase and impacted by freezing and grading by fat level

  • Objective: The objective of this research was to evaluate the physico-chemical, microbiological and sensorial qualities of restructured steaks processed from beef trimmings (grade I and II) and frozen beef (fresh beef as control and frozen beef). Methods: Beef trimmings from commercial butcher were collected, designated into 4 treatments differing in beef trimmings grade and freezing, processed into restructured steaks with 1% microbial transglutaminase and then analyzed for product quality. Results: The results showed that all meat from different groups could be tightly bound together via cross-linking of myosin heavy chain and actin as observed by sodium dodecyl sulfate-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. Microbial counts of psychrotrophic and mesophilic bacteria were not affected by treatments (p>0.05), and no detectable of thermophilic bacteria were found. Regarding effect of beef trimmings grade, steaks made from beef trimmings grade II (16.03% fat) showed some superior sensorial qualities including higher tenderness score (p<0.05) and tendency for higher scores of juiciness and overall acceptability (p<0.07) than those made from beef trimmings grade I (2.15% fat). Moreover, a hardness value from texture profile analysis was lower in steaks processed from beef trimmings grade II than those made from grade I (p<0.05). Although some inferior qualities in terms of cooking loss and discoloration after cooking were higher in steaks made from beef trimmings grade II than those made from beef trimmings grade I (p<0.05), these differences did not affect the sensory evaluation. Frozen beef improved the soft texture and resulted in effective meat binding as considered by higher cohesiveness and springiness of the raw restructured product as compared to fresh beef (p<0.05). Conclusion: The results indicated the most suitable raw beef for producing restructured steaks without detrimental effect on product quality was beef trimmings grade II containing up to 17% fat which positively affected the sensory quality and that frozen beef trimmings increased tenderness and meat binding of restructured beef steaks.

Longitudinal Effects of Preschool Children's Media Exposure and Maternal Depression on School Adjustment during First Grade: Mediating Effect of Attention Problem (취학 전 미디어 노출과 어머니의 우울이 초등학교 1학년의 학교 적응에 미치는 종단적 영향: 주의집중문제의 매개효과)

  • This study examined the longitudinal effect of preschool children's media exposure and maternal depression on first-grade children's school adjustment and the mediating effect of attention problem. Longitudinal data from the Panel Study of Korean Children (PSKC) collected by the Korea Institute of Child Care and Education (KICCE) was used to examine this hypothetical model. The subjects of the study included 2,150 children (1,091 boys and 1,059 girls) and their mothers across 2013 (5 yrs.) through 2015 (7 yrs.). The Structural Equation Model (SEM) was estimated using SPSS 25.0 and Amos 25. The results of this study were as follows. First, higher level of preschool children's media exposure and maternal depression were related to higher attention problems after a year and lower level of children's school adjustment during first-grade. Second, preschool children's media exposure and maternal depression had an indirect effect on first-grade children's school adjustment via attention problem. The results of this study will provide supporting evidence to many educators and parents for the implementation of effective practices for first-grade children to enhance their school adjustment. Furthermore, this study emphasizes the importance of maternal psychological wellbeing and the risk of indiscriminate media exposure during early childhood on first-grade's school adjustment.

Comparison of the Palatability Related with Characteristics of Beef Carcass Grade B2 and D (상등급과 등외등급 쇠고기의 기호특성 비교)

  • Two kinds of samples were prepared from the loin in the carcass with grade B2 and D, which were chilled for 24 hour after slaughter. The fresh beef in this study were obtained by chilling the loin for 1 day after wrapping them. On the other hand, the chilled beef were obtained by cutting the loin by 500 g and chilling them for 30 day after vacuum packing. The experiment was carried out to compare the palatability related with characteristics of loin with grade B2 and D and to investigate the chilling effect of the loin with grade D. In the case of fresh beef, it was found that the loin with grade B2 has better meat color, but lower pH, lactic acid content, and myoglobin content, than them of the loin with grade D. Also, the loin with grade B2 has lower tenderness due to its low hardness and chewiness, and high myofibrillar fragmentation index (MFI). Furthermore, it has high monounsaturated fatty acid/saturated fatty acid (MUFA/SFA) and ATP content, and good raw meat aroma. It also shows an excellent palatability of cooked meat, although it has low cooking loss and heat shotening. On the other hand, the loin with grade D has higher chilling effect on hardness, chewiness, MFI and MUFA/SFA, than them of the loin with grade B2. However, in the case of chilled beef, the loin with grade D shows much worse tenderness, cooked meat aroma, and palatability than them of the loin with grade B2.

  • The study aims at analyzing and comparing the effect of video teleconferencing English class with native speakers on class satisfaction and self-efficacy of elementary school students according to grades. Revised Kim's self efficacy and researcher's class satisfaction measuring tools were used for this. Grade 3 got the highest score and grade 6 had the lowest one in class satisfaction. In post-testing on self efficacy, average score was lower than in pre-testing except grade 3. Grade 3 got the highest score and grade 6 had the lowest one in self efficacy. I conclude that as students' grade goes up, their interests decrease in teleconferencing class and native speaker teachers.

  • This paper will specify geo-objects and geo-fields of the geo-ecological contamination source and implement the system for evaluating an ocean Environmental contamination based on the spatial statistical analysis. In order to produce the grade of fishery that can evaluate the ocean effect, we will analysis the degree of the spatial correlation by semi-veriogram and predicate the elevation raster of spatial data using ordinary kriging method. This paper is to estimate the grade of fishery contamination region and produce the ratio of the area according to the fishery grade. Therefore, we can contribute to produce fishery grade that evaluates the ocean effect by means of deciding an efficient fishery environment.

The Effects of Family Economic Stress and Parental Support on Behavior Problems of Children (가정의 경제적 스트레스 및 부모의 지시에 따른 아동의 행동문제)

  • The purpose of this study was to investigate 1) the effect of family economic stress and parental support on behavior problems of children and 2) family economic stress parental support and behavior problems of children according to their sex and age. The subjects were 72 third grade children and 131 sixth grade children selected from five elementary school(105 male and 98 female) The questionaire was used as a methodological instrument and the statistics used for data analysis were frequency percentile mean ANOVA scheffe test t-test Results of this study indicated that behavior problems of children were increased by family economic stress and were decreased by parental support. The findings also indicated an indirect effect of family economic stress on behavior problems of children : increased stress was associa- ted with lower parental support and lower parental support was associated with higher behavior problems of children Boys were higher than girls in agression and delinquency and sixth grade children were higher than third grade children in obsession.

  • It is important to evaluate the effect in the maintenance of steel bridge because the fatigue of the bridge is affected by the structural characteristic of bridge such as structure type, span and steel grade, etc. In this study, we analyzed the effect of fatigue strength by the changes of span of the bridge and the steel grade in many factors which have influence on the fatigue life of the bridge. For this analysis, we selected the objective bridges and performed the structural analyses for the various parameters such as span and steel grade. The fatigue evaluations were carried out by FAST which is a program for fatigue estimation and the results were compared.
