The Global Positioning System is a navigation system that has been developed by the United States for military use. Currently, many countries, including the Republic of Korea, use GPS for civilian and military uses. However, as useful as it is, GPS is vulnerable to its Jamming signal, as the strength of the signal from satellites is very weak. In this paper, a novel jamming signal detection and cancellation method is proposed when a narrow-band jamming signal is included in the GPS received signal. At the GPS receiver, the received signal is transformed to a frequency domain sample by Fast Fourier Transform. In order to suppress the Spectral Leakage, the Blackman-Harris window is used. The proposed jamming signal cancellation algorithm will find the frequency sample with maximum power and null the maximum sample in addition to some lateral samples. If the GPS receiver is designed with FFT of size 128 to 512, it is shown that 42 samples are optimal to cancel the narrow-band jamming signal.

In GPS(Global Positioning System)/INS(Inertial Navigation System) integrated navigation systems, GPS antennas and an inertial measurement units are usually installed outside and inside of the vehicle, respectively. By the difference of installed locations, performance of GPS/INS integrated navigation systems is affected by lever arm errors. For more accurate navigation, lever arm errors need to be compensated correctly since it directly affects the accuracy of navigation states. This paper proposes an effective lever arm error compensation method that utilizes velocity measurements of GPS and INS. By an experiment, feasibility of the proposed algorithm is verified. It is also shown that lever arm compensation is especially important when vehicles are experiencing rotational movements.

Background Skin cancer is the most prevalent cancer by organ type and referral accuracy is vital for diagnosis and management. The British Association of Dermatologists (BAD) and literature highlight the importance of accurate skin lesion examination, diagnosis and educationally-relevant studies. Methods We undertook a review of the relevant literature, a national audit of skin lesion description standards and a study of speciality training influences on these descriptions. Questionnaires (n=200), with pictures of a circular and an oval lesion, were distributed to UK dermatology/plastic surgery consultants and speciality trainees (ST), general practitioners (GP), and medical students (MS). The following variables were analysed against a pre-defined 95% inclusion accuracy standard: site, shape, size, skin/colour, and presence of associated scars. Results There were 250 lesion descriptions provided by 125 consultants, STs, GPs, and MSs. Inclusion accuracy was greatest for consultants over STs (80% vs. 68%; P<0.001), GPs (57%) and MSs (46%) (P<0.0001), for STs over GPs (P<0.010) and MSs (P<0.0001) and for GPs over MSs (P<0.010), all falling below audit standard. Size description accuracy sub-analysis according to circular/oval dimensions was as follows: consultants (94%), GPs (80%), STs (73%), MSs (37%), with the most common error implying a quadrilateral shape (66%). Addressing BAD guidelines and published requirements for more empirical performance data to improve teaching methods, we performed a national audit and studied skin lesion descriptions. To improve diagnostic and referral accuracy for patients, healthcare professionals must strive towards accuracy (a circle is not a square). Conclusions We provide supportive evidence that increased speciality training improves this process and propose that greater focus is placed on such training early on during medical training, and maintained throughout clinical practice.

Recently, with the rapid advancement in information and communication technology, indoor location-based services(LBSs) that require precise position tracking have been actively studied with outdoor-LBS using GPS. However, in case of a ship which consists of steel structure, it is difficult to measure a precise localization due to significant ranging error by the diffraction and refraction of radio waves. In order to reduce location measurement errors that occur in these indoor environments, this paper presents distance compensation algorithms that are suitable for a narrow passage such as ship corridors without any additional sensors by using UWB(Ultra-wide-band), which is robust to multi-path and has an error in the range of a few centimeters in free space. These improvement methods are that Pythagorean theory and adjacent node technique are used to solve the distance error due to the node deployment and distance variation analysis technique is applied to reduce the ranging errors which are significantly fluctuated in the corner section. The experimental results show that the number of nodes and the distance error are reduced to 66% and 57.41%, respectively, compared with conventional CSS(Chirp spread spectrum) method.
This paper presents a novel method of implementing a dual-band antenna using a square patch with an inset feed structure. The proposed method is to simply design a dual-band antenna using an asymmetric inset structure with different lengths of slots dug into the patch for inset feeding. To verify the proposed method, a dual-band inset patch antenna supporting 1.57 GHz GPS and 2.4 GHz WiFi bands was designed and manufactured on a 1 mm thick FR4 substrate. From measurement, it was confirmed that the frequency bands of the antenna that satisfy a return loss of -10dB or less are 1.55~1.57GHz and 2.41~2.45GHz, which has dual-band characteristics. Using the proposed method, it is possible to simply implement a dual-band antenna using inset feeding, and it is expected to be utilized in a variety of application fields.

In this study, the effect of forage sources in the total mixed ration (TMR) on in vitro goat rumen fermentation was investigated. Rice straw (RS), Italian ryegrass (IRG), timothy (TIM), and alfalfa (ALF) were used as forage sources. Each forage source was mixed with a commercial goat concentrate diet in the ratio of 1:1. Total 4 TMR were prepared. Rumen simulated in vitro fermentation using goat rumen fluid collected from the slaughterhouse was conducted until 72th. For fermentation parameters, gas production (GP), volatile fatty acids (VFAs), and ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N) were examined. All assays were performed at 24th, 48th, and 72th h of incubation individually. Contents of crude protein and non-fibrous carbohydrate were greater in the order of RS < IRG < TIM < ALF. Significant treatment effects were found in valerate and NH3-N at 24th h of incubation (p<0.05). ALF showed the greatest contents of them and RS was the lowest. At 48th incubation, a significant effect was detected at GP (p<0.05) and RS was greater than others. However, GP of RS was lower than others at 72th. Significant effects on Total VFA, butyrate, and valerate productions were found at 72th h of incubation (p<0.05). ALF showed the greatest production. Methane production from all treatments was not significantly different for each incubation time (p>0.05). The present study provided primary information on how goat rumen fermentation responds to different nutrient contents and forage sources of TMR. And the information could be used for the design or optimizing economical diet formulation for goats.

A New Cymbidium variety "Yellow Evening" was developed from a cross between "Oji" and "Valley Flower Cherry Life" followed by seedling and line selections at the National Institute of Horticultural and Herbal Science (NIHHS), Rural Development Administration (RDA) in 2004. After investigation of the characteristics and selection for 9 years (1996-2004), it has been selected specifically pot orchid flower. "Yellow Evening" has medium plant height and semi-erect peduncle. It has medium flowering habit and brownish yellow flowers (RHS, Y11B: petal and sepal) with grayed purple GP183A) spot on lip, when fully opened. Each peduncle has 15.3 flowers with diameter of about 7.4 cm. It has adequate peduncle height, with some curved and spreading petal and sepals. Under optical culture conditions, it started to bloom early-winter (November).
The purpose of this study was to analyze the results from statistical process control (SPC) to recommend upper and lower control limits for planning parameters based on delivery quality assurance (DQA) results and establish our institutional guidelines regarding planning parameters for helical tomotherapy (HT). A total of 53 brain, 41 head and neck (H & N), and 51 pelvis cases who had passing or failing DQA measurements were selected. The absolute point dose difference (DD) and the global gamma passing rate (GPR) for all patients were analyzed. Control charts were used to evaluate upper and lower control limits (UCL and LCL) for all assessed treatment planning parameters. Treatment planning parameters were analyzed to provide its range for DQA pass cases. We confirmed that the probability of DQA failure was higher when the proportion of leaf open time (LOT) below 100 ms was greater than 30%. LOT and gantry period (GP) were significant predictor for DQA failure using the SPC method. We investigated the availability of the SPC statistic method to establish the local planning guideline based on DQA results for HT system. The guideline of each planning parameter in HT may assist in the prediction of DQA failure using the SPC statistic method in the future.
