Boolean Factorization Technique Using Two-cube Terms (2개의 곱항에서 공통인수를 이용한 논리 분해식 산출)

  • A factorization is an extremely important part of multi-level logic synthesis. The number of literals in a factored form is a good estimate of the complexity of a logic function, and can be translated directly into the number of transistors required for implementation. Factored forms are described as either algebraic or Boolean, according to the trade-off between run-time and optimization. A Boolean factored form contains fewer number of literals than an algebraic factored form. In this paper, we present a new method for a Boolean factorization. The key idea is to identify two-cube Boolean subexpression pairs from given expression. Experimental results on various benchmark circuits show the improvements in literal counts over the algebraic factorization based on Bryton's co-kernel cube matrix.

Structure of Cholesteryl Hemisuccinate (Cholesteryl Hemisuccinate의 구조)

  • The crystal structure of cholesteryl hemisuccinate ($C_{31}H_{50}O_4$) was investigated by X-ray diffraction method. The cholesterol fragment of the title compound were in good agreement with those for related cholesterol derivatives. The unit cell contains four cholesteryl hemisuccinate molecules that are not related by crystal symmetry and have their tetracyclic system almost parellel to each other. There are two pairs of hydrogen-bonded dimer between A and D molecules and B and C molecules. These two hydrogen-bonded dimers are parallel to the c-axis, and are closely packed.

  • A steganographic method using three directional data embedding for gray images is presented in this paper. Cover image is divided into non-overlapping $2\times2$ sub-blocks and the basis pixel is selected to calculate the three different values of each sub-block. Difference values are replaced by embedding the number of secret bits that is referenced by the range table. For the three pixel pairs in the sub-block, the optimal pixel adjustment is preceded to reduce the distortion of visual quality. The experimental results show that the proposed method achieves a good visual quality and high capacity.

  • This paper presents numerical and experimental works for simultaneous pumping and mixing small liquid using asymmetric microelectrode arrays, based on AC electroosmotic flows. To this end, four arrangements of electrode pairs were considered with diagonal/herringbone shapes. Numerical simulations were made of three-dimensional geometries by using the linear theory. The results indicated that the helical flow motions induced by the electrode arrays play a significant role in the mixing enhancement. The pumping performance was influenced by the slip velocity at the center region of the channel compared to that near the side walls. To validate the numerical predictions, the microfluidic devices were made through MEMS. The flow rate was obtained by using micro PIV, increasing the applied frequency. The electrolyte was potassium chloride solution. The flow patterns above electrodes were visualized to see lateral flow for mixing. The experimental results showed good agreements with the numerical predictions.

  • Distillation columns are widely used in almost every chemical plant. The use of multivariable control for such units is attractive because of the strong interactions exhibited between outputs and inputs and the desire to control simultaneously both top and bottom products. In this research design of a robust multivariable controller for distillation column was considered; output feedback controller with proportional and integral modes was designed using pole assignment. The transfer function matrix was obtained by fitting the step response realtions between single input double output pairs of variables. This matrix was then converted to linear time invariant state space model by multivariable realization technique. With the proposed multivariable proportional and integral controller applied to the process, the result of the digital computer simulation showed a good performance of asymtotic tracking. The limited experimental performance of this multivariable control was compared with the result from simulation. It was found that the proposed controller performed satisfactorily for the distillation column which separated binary mixture of methanol and water.

  • Estimation of the process deviation is an important problem in statistical process control, especially in the control chart, process capability analysis or measurement system analysis. In this paper we suggest the use of the Gini's mean difference for the estimation of the c, the measure of the process deviation through a lots of simulations in various types of distributions. The Gini's mean difference uses the differences of all possible pairs of data. This point will improve the efficiency of estimation. In various classes of distributions, the Gini's mean difference shows good performance, in sense of bias of estimates or mean squared errors.

  • A fuzzy control scheme has been proposed for a supercritical extraction process which has attracted much attention recently as a new separation technology. Based on the manual operation experience, three control pairs between manipulated and output variables are selected first and then seven membership functions are defined for control error and time rate of the error, respectively for each control pair, resulting in forty nine Fuzzy control rules. In addition to these, the membership functions are defined in two steps (coarse and fine) to enhance control performance. Fuzzy inference is performed using MAX-MTN composition rule and defuzzified control output is calculated based on center of gravity method. The prosed Fuzzy control scheme has been assessed through numerical simulation. As a result, the proposed scheme shows good control performance comparable with that by INA(inverse nyquist array) which usually requires complicated design procedure.

  • In this paper, efficient quantization methods of line spectrum pairs (LSP) which has good performances and low complexity and memory are proosed for vocoder of mobile communication system. The adaptive quantization method utilizing the ordering property of LSP parameters is used in a scalar quantizer and a vector-scalar hybrid quantizer. The proposed scalar quantization algorithm needs 31 bits/frame to maintain the transparent quality of speech. The improved vector-scalar quantizer achieves an average spectral distortion of 1dB using 26 bits/frame. The proposed methods are evaluated in the channel errors and changed the predictor structure to maintain the robustness to channel errors.

  • Methods of Object recognition from camera image are to compare features of color. edge or pattern with model in a general way. SIFT(scale-invariant feature transform) has good performance but that has high complexity of computation. Using simple color histogram has low complexity. but low performance. In this paper we represent a model as a color cooccurrence histogram. and we improve performance using pyramid matching. The color cooccurrence histogram keeps track of the number of pairs of certain colored pixels that occur at certain separation distances in image space. The color cooccurrence histogram adds geometric information to the normal color histogram. We suggest object recognition by pyramid matching of color cooccurrence histogram.

PERFORMANCE OF BROILERS AND LAYERS FED LOCALLY PRODUCED FISH WASTE MEAL IN WESTERN SAMOA

  • Two experiments were conducted to evaluate the performance of broilers and layers fed locally produced fish waste meal (LFWM) in Western Samoa. LFWM, which was produced by mincing and oven drying of rejects from filleted fish, was included in both broiler and layer diets at the complete expense of imported meat and bone meal (MBM). The experiments were of a completely randomised design. In experiment 1, 120 day-old Strabro broiler chicks were raised to 49 days of ages. In experiment 2, 80 Shaver 288 pullets, 20 weeks of age, were housed in pairs in cages and raised up to 72 weeks of age. There were no differences (p > 0.05) in performance of broilers as measured in terms of final bodyweights, feed intake, feed efficiency and carcass yield between the two diets. Similarly, no differences (p > 0.05) existed in egg production, egg weight and feed required per kilogramme of eggs. It is concluded that LFWM is nutritionally as good as imported MBM and could be used to completely replace MBM in broiler and layer diets.
