Antibacterial Activity of CNT-Ag and GO-Ag Nanocomposites Against Gram-negative and Gram-positive Bacteria

  • Carbon nanocomposites composed of carbon nanostructures and metal nanoparticles have become one of useful materials for various applications. Here we present the preparation and antibacterial activity of CNT-Ag and GO-Ag nanocomposites. Their physical properties were characterized by TEM, XPS, and Raman measurements, revealing that size-similar and quasi-spherical Ag nanoparticles were anchored to the surface of the CNT and GO. The antibacterial activities of CNT-Ag and GO-Ag were investigated using the growth curve method and minimal inhibitory concentrations against Gram-negative and Gram-positive bacteria. The antibacterial activities of the carbon nanocomposites were slightly different against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. The proposed mechanism was discussed.

  • 본 연구는 전착법으로 형성된 $Cu_2O$ 박막의 광특성 변화를 고찰한 것이다. 0.3M $CuSO_4$과 4M Lactic acid에 4M NaOH로 전해액의 pH를 조절하여 $Cu_2O$ 박막의 결정성 및 극성을 조절하였다. $Cu_2O$ 박막의 결정성 및 극성에 따른 광특성을 고찰한 결과, 극성인 (111)면에서 광특성이 우수함을 확인하였다. 하지만, 측정시간의 증가에 따라 표면에 Cu 금속이 형성되어 광전류가 감소함을 확인 할 수 있었다. rGO는 페르미전위가 $Cu_2O$ 환원 전위보다 위쪽에 위치한다. 따라서 $Cu_2O$ 박막위에 rGO를 형성시켜 Cu 발생반응을 제한하고 광전류를 증가시키고자한다.

A STUDY ON THE CORRELATIONSHIP BETWEEN OVERBITE DEPTH AND SKELETAL FACTORS OF CRANIOFACIAL COMPLEX (OVERBITE와 안두개 복합체의 골격성 요소의 상관관계에 관한 연구)

  • This study was undertaken to find out the factor highly correlated to the depth of overbite among the skeletal factors of the craniofacial complex using lateral roentgenocephalograms. The subjects cconsited of fifty normal occlusions, sixty Class I malocclusions, sixty Class II division I malocclustions and sixty Class III malocclusions. The results were as follows: 1. Ans-Go-Me angle and lower genial angle showed high correlation to the depth of overbite in the total malocclusion sample. 2. The mean values of Ans-Go-Me angle and lower goinal angle for the normal sample were $49.8^{\circ}\;and\;75.6^{\circ}$, respectively. 3. Ans-Go-Me angle above $56^{\circ}$ or lower gonial angle above $84^{\circ}$ indicated a tendency toward an openbite. Conversely, Ans-Go-Me angle below $48^{\circ}$ or lower goinal angle below $73^{\circ}$ indicated a tendency toward a deepbite.

Synthesis, characterization, and antibacterial performance of Ag-modified graphene oxide reinforced electrospun polyurethane nanofibers

  • Polyurethane (PU) nanofibers containing graphene oxide (GO) and Ag doped functionalized reduced graphene oxide (Ag-RGO) were successfully prepared via the electrospinning technique. The uniform distribution of GO sheets along with Ag nanoparticle in the nanofibers was investigated by scanning electron microscopy and the elemental mapping technique. X-ray diffraction and thermal gravimetric analysis verified the presence of GO and Ag in the bicomposite nanofibrous mats. Antibacterial tests against Escherichia coli demonstrated that the addition of GO and Ag-RGO to the PU nanofiber greatly enhanced bactericidal efficiency. Overall, these features of the synthesized nanofibers make them a promising candidate material in the biomedical field for applications such as tissue engineering, wound healing, and drug delivery systems.

  • This paper presents the Stone Influence, the Influence Point, and the Influence Area on computer Go. The Stone Influence is defined using the distance between stone and empty point. The Influence Point is defined using threshold value on the Stone Influence. The Influence Area is defined using lump of the Influence Points and its Core. In experiments using the Jeongseok data, the author obtained the threshold of Influence Points. The proposed method was verified by experiments where it was success fully applied to the influence in game of Go.

Enhanced Performance of Immunoassays with Affinity-Purified Analyte-Enzyme Conjugates as Signal Generators

  • In a competitive enzyme immunoassay, the performance was tested with different analyte-enzyme conjugates (signal generators) in their binding constants to antibody. Analyte (progesterone)-enzyme (glucose oxidase; GO) conjugates were chemically synthesized and purified by using a gel column with an immobilized antibody to progesterone. In an elution range from the column, four peaks were detected by measuring total enzyme activities. Results from further analysis indicated that the first peak contained mainly unreacted GO while the next three peaks conjugated GO with progesterone. These three conjugate preparations were compared in dose-response curves along with the unpurified mixture. The purified conjugates showed higher detection capabilities than did the mixture. Especially, the preparation in the second peak next to the free GO peak improved the detection limit five times. This performance was comparable to that of a progesterone-horseradish peroxidase conjugate that has been identified to have one progesterone ligand.

A Phonetic Study of Vowel Raising: A Closer Look at the Realization of the Suffix {-go} (모음 상승 현상의 음성적 고찰: 어미 {-고}의 실현을 중심으로)

  • Vowel raising in Korean has been primarily treated as a phonological, categorical change. This study aims to show how the Korean connective suffix {-go} is realized in various environments, and propose a principle of vowel raising based on both acoustic and perceptual data. To that end, we used a corpus of spoken Korean to analyze the types of syntactic constructions, the realization of prosodic boundaries (IP and PP), and the types of boundary tone associated with {-go}. It was found that the vowel tends to be raised most frequently in utterance-final position, while in utterance-medial position the vowel was raised more when the syntactic and prosodic distance between {-go} and the following constituent was smaller. The results for boundary tone also showed a correlation between vowel raising and the discourse function of the boundary tone. In conclusion, we propose that vowel raising is not simply an optional phenomenon, but rather a type of phonetic reduction related to the comprehension of the following constituent.

Afterwards, the utilization of deep-learning system using artificial intelligence is said to be verified. Recently, the government passed the loT Act and developing its business model to promote loT. This study is on analyzing IoT business environment using deep-learning AI and constructing specialized business models.

  • Three derivatives of poly(ethylenimine) (PEI) are prepared by Ni(II)-template condensation with glyoxal(GO): PEI[Ni(II)-GO]$_{0.08}$ (1), PEI[Ni(II)-GO]$_{0.03}$ (2), and lau$_{0.18}$PEI[Ni(II)-GO]$_{0.03}$ (3). The contents of Ni(II)-macrocyclic center of 1-3 are 8%, 3%, or 3%, respectively, of the monomer residues, and 18% of monomer residues for 3 are laurylated. The pH profiles for k$_{cal}$ and k$_m$ for the deacylation of 4-carboxy-2-nitrophenyl acetate are measured. The relative magnitude of the parameters for 1-3 and different shapes of the pH profiles for 1-3 are explained in terms of the electrostatic and the hydrophobic effects exerted by the metal centers and lauryl groups. For the artificial metalloenzymes built on PEI, therefore, the ionization of functional groups and the affinity toward counter-anions can be controlled by adjusting charge density and the content of hydrophobic groups.
