A GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) using GPS provides us with very useful information concerning the positioning of users in many sectors such as transportation, social services, the justice system and customs services, public works, search and rescue systems and leisure. A GNSS using the Galileo satellite is due to work in 2008 and expected to be used in various fields such as aviation, marine transportation, land surveying, resources development precise agriculture, telemetics, and so on. In this paper, we discuss the implementation and testing of a combined GPS/Galileo receiver which we named KSTAR V1.0. Each tracking module of GPS/Galileo dual mode correlator has the five track arms which consist of Very Early code, Early code, Prompt code, late code, and Very late code. Each of 24 tracking modules can be assigned to GPS and/or Galileo signal by changing mode selection register. The basic correlator integration dump period is set to 1ms for GPS C/A code and fast Galileo signal tracking. The performance of the developed combined GPS/Galileo receiver was tested and evaluated using the IF (Intermediated Frequency)-level GPS/Galileo signal generator.

It is well known that GPS cannot provide positioning results if sufficient number of visible satellites are not available. To overcome this weak point, attentions have been recently moved to hybrid positioning methods that augments GPS with other sensors. As an extension of hybrid positiong methods, this paper proposes a new method that combines GPS and vision sensor to improve availability and accuracy of land vehicle positioning. The proposed method does not require any external map information and can provide position solutions if more than 2 navigation satellites are visible. To evaluate the performance of the proposed method, an experiment result with real measurements is provided and a result shows that accumulated error of n-axis is almost 2.5meters and that of e-axis is almost 3meters in test section.

Among various applications of the High Altitude Long Endurance (HALE) Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), this paper has a focus on the Global Positioning System (GPS) utilizing pseudolite and its improved performance, particularly during the multi-purpose missions. In a multi-purpose mission, the HALE UAV follows a specified flight trajectory for both navigation applications and missions. Some of the representative HALE missions are remote exploration, surveillance, reconnaissance, and communication relay. During these operations, the HALE UAV can also be an additional positioning signal source as it broadcast signals using pseudolite. The pseudolite signal can improve the availability, accuracy, and reliability of the GPS particularly in areas with poor signal reception, such as shadowed regions between tall buildings. The improvement in performance of navigation is validated through simulations of multi-purpose missions of the solar-powered HALE UAV in an urban canyon. The simulation includes UAV trajectory generation at stratosphere and uses actual geographical building data. The results indicate that the pseudolite-equipped HALE UAV has the potential to enhance the performance of the satellite navigation system in navigationally degraded regions even during multi-purpose operations.
The precise orbit determination (POD) of low earth orbiter (LEO) has complied with its required positioning accuracy by the double-differencing of observations between International GNSS Service (IGS) and LEO to eliminate the common clock error of the global positioning system (GPS) satellites and receiver. Using this method, we also have achieved the 1 m positioning accuracy of Korea Multi-Purpose Satellite (KOMPSAT)-2. However double-differencing POD has huge load of processing the global network of lots of ground stations because LEO turns around the Earth with rapid velocity. And both the centimeter accuracy and the near real time (NRT) processing have been needed in the LEO POD applications--atmospheric sounding or urgent image processing--as well as the surveying. An alternative to differential GPS for high accuracy NRT POD is precise point positioning (PPP) to use measurements from one satellite receiver only, to replace the broadcast navigation message with precise post processed values from IGS, and to have phase measurements of dual frequency GPS receiver. PPP can obtain positioning accuracy comparable to that of differential positioning. KOMPSAT-5 has a precise dual frequency GPS flight receiver (integrated GPS and occultation receiver, IGOR) to satisfy the accuracy requirements of 20 cm positioning accuracy for highly precise synthetic aperture radar image processing and to collect GPS radio occultation measurements for atmospheric sounding. In this paper we obtained about 3-5 cm positioning accuracies using the real GPS data of the Gravity Recover and Climate Experiment (GRACE) satellites loaded the Blackjack receiver, a predecessor of IGOR. And it is important to reduce the latency of orbit determination processing in the NRT POD. This latency is determined as the volume of GPS measurements. Thus changing the sampling intervals, we show their latency to able to reduce without the precision degradation as the assessment of their precision.

This paper focuses on development status of eLoran system which is an representative backup PNT system in order to overcome the vulnerability of GNSS signals by radio frequency interference such as jamming. eLoran testbed system consists of new transmitting system for amplifying the signal through signal generation and modulation, differential Loran (dLoran) reference stations for calculating the signal errors received from transmitters, an integrated operation and control system (IOCS) for eLoran service. Therefore we present the configuration of testbed architecture for trial operation of eLoran service and the development status, and discuss about the next step toward backup PNT service using eLoran system.
Data processing service via internet help user to get the GNSS data processing result more precise and easily. Thus, online data process system is operated and developed by various research groups and national. But this service is difficult to use in domestic cadastral survey. In this study, we developed the online data processing system for a domestic cadastral survey. This is calculated coordinate using NGII CORS(SUWN) fiducially. And use PPP technique by GIPSY-OASIS. If user choose the observation data which want to calculate the coordinate, then is uploaded to GIPSY-OASIS server through FTP. After upload is complete, server automatically calculate coordinate, and send the report about result using e-mail. And it takes 2 minutes runtime on the basis of the 3 sessions. To verify the result, we used the data on SOUL, JUNJ as compared with notified-coordinate from NGII. As a result, got the difference for east-west 1.4 cm, north-south -1.0 cm, vertical 0.5 cm.

In order to increase the practical use and navigational application performance of the Korean Positioning System (KPS), it is required to provide interoperability with other Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS). This kind of interoperability can be obtained by broadcasting the time offset between KPS and GNSS using a KPS navigation message. With the assumption that KPS Time (KPST) will be generated by the similar method and equipment of UTC(KRIS), the overall behavior of KPST will be close to that of UTC(KRIS). Therefore, the time offset between KPST and GPS Time (GPST) is estimated by using UTC(KRIS) instead of KPST because KPST can not available at the present time. In this paper, we describe the estimation results of the KPS to GPS Time Offset (KGTO) obtained by using a GNSS time transfer receiver which reference inputs are fed from UTC(KRIS). The estimated KGTO performance is compared to the time offset between UTC(KRIS) and UTC(USNO) which is used to generate GPST and considered as the real GPST. The time offset between UTC(KRIS) and UTC(USNO) is obtained by using the Bureau International des Poids et Mesures (BIPM) Circular T report. From the results, it is observed that KGTO can be estimated under 10 ns with the assumption that KPST will be generated by a similar method of UTC(KRIS) generation.

In this paper, it verifies site environment aspect that NDGPS (Nationwide Differential Global Positioning System) operated by MOF (Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries) will be used as the same site of reference stations for SBAS (Satellite Based Augmentation System). In order to prove this feasibility, we analyze the site environment requirements for SBAS reference stations, as well as we establish the procedure for the verification of the site environment requirements. With this procedure of the site environment survey, we perform site survey in the real field and analyze the results. We select interim candidate sites for survey which currently operating 17 NDGPS reference stations. This paper could be utilized in the process of selection or installation of reference stations in the field of GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) and the drawing the consideration which NDGPS reference stations will be co-operated as SBAS reference stations.
We carry out an error analysis of 24-hour global positioning system (GPS)-very long baseline interferometry (VLBI) (GV) hybrid observation data. In this paper, we focus on the impacts of broadcast and final orbits on the GPS delays of the GV hybrid observation by analyzing the residuals, observed - calculated (O-C) values. The residuals show apparent and consistent biases for L1 and L2 signals, respectively. The scatters of the residuals are around a few nanoseconds. The main cause of those observation errors is the absence of the GPS phase and delay calibration system. Most of the satellites show that the differences between the delays, to which broadcast and final orbits are applied, are about 100 times smaller than the current GV hybrid observation errors. We conclude that GPS delays are not greatly affected by orbit accuracies.
