  • This paper is aimed to find out the impact of the geometrical parameters, mainly the radius and the height of a cylinder, on the SGEMP response including the famous scaling law in the classical cylinder model using a homemade PIC code UNIPIC-3D. We computed the electric fields at the center and at the edge on the emission head face with different radii and heights under normal X-rays incidence. The results show that the electric field will increase with the radius but decrease with the height. We analyze the scaling law that links the electric field product and fluence product, and whereafter an irreconcilable contradiction raises when the radius is changeable, which limits the application range of the scaling law. Moreover, the field-height-radius relation is found and described by a combination of logarithmic and minus one-quarter numerical fitting law firstly. Particle and magnetic field distributions are used to explain all the behaviors of the fields reasonably. All the findings will assist the evaluation of SGEMP response in spacecraft protection.

  • The current article proposed to develop a geometrical model for the analysis and modelling of the uniaxial functionally graded structure using the higher-order displacement kinematics with and without the presence of porosity including the distribution. Additionally, the formulation is capable of modelling three different kinds of grading patterns i.e., Power-law, sigmoid and exponential distribution of the individual constituents through the thickness direction. Also, the model includes the distribution of porosity (even and uneven kind) through the panel thickness. The structural governing equation of the porous graded structure is obtained (Hamilton's principle) and solved mathematically by means of the isoparametric finite element technique. Initially, the linear frequency parameters are obtained for different geometrical configuration via own computer code. The comparison and the corresponding convergence studies are performed for the unidirectional FG structure for the validation purpose. Finally, the impact of different influencing parameters like aspect ratio (O), thickness ratio (S), curvature ratio (R/h), porosity index (λ), type of porosity (even or uneven), power-law exponent (n), boundary condition on the free vibration characteristics are obtained for the FG panel and discussed in details.

  • This paper described results for desiging the best effective bushing geometry by comparing the distribution of the electric field according to bushing geometry. Twelve cases of the geometrical change are tried to analysis. Improvement of the insulation strength related with the vector and the electric field distribution are reached to about 0.7[%] and $21{\sim}26[%]$ by changing the electrode length, respectively. Moreover, in cases of the change of insulator thickness at high-voltage parts, the insulation strength relevant to the same parameters as mentioned above are 2[%] and $23{\sim}43[%]$, respectively Consequently, the quenching voltage for interrupting the partial discharge might be improved due to increasing the insulation strength by the geometrical change.

  • The force of a direct current (DC) electromagnetic pump used to transport liquid lithium was analyzed to optimize its geometrical and electrical parameters by numerical simulation. In a heavy-ion accelerator, which is being developed in Korea, a liquid lithium film is utilized for its high charge-stripping efficiency for heavy ions of uranium. A DC electromagnetic pump with a flow rate of $6cm^3/s$ and a developed pressure of 1.5 MPa at a temperature of $200^{\circ}C$ was required to circulate the liquid lithium to form liquid lithium films. The current and magnetic flux densities in the flow gap, where a $Sm_2Co_{17}$ permanent magnet was used to generate a magnetic field, were analyzed for the electromagnetic force distribution generated in the pump. The pressure developed by the Lorentz force on the electromagnetic force was calculated by considering the electromotive force and hydraulic pressure drop in the narrow flow channel. The opposite force at the end part due to the magnetic flux density in the opposite direction depended on the pump geometrical parameters such as the pump duct length and width that defines the rectangular channels in the nonhomogeneous distributions of the current and magnetic fields.

  • The Fisher information matrix plays a significant role in statistical inference in connection with estimation and properties of variance of estimators. In this paper, the parameter space of the normal distribution using its Fisher's matrix is defined. The Riemannian curvature and J-divergence to parameter space are calculated.

  • The main purpose of this paper is to determine a new focal point and field distribution due to the shape deformation of reflector antenna by numerical method such as geometrical optics and the aperture field method. It is shown the 4 types deformations to be added into original shape of parabola antenna and offset antenna: linear, quadratic, cubic and hybrid distortion. These results can be applied to deformed reflector antenna in order to fit a focal point and radiation pattern.

  • Temperature distribution measurements in the mockup apparatus of reactor vessel were performed to determine the effective thermal conductivity of Al powder porous media where stainless steel tubes were installed with different geometry. The temperature distributions at four separated sections with different arrangements of porous media have different slopes according to the geometrical configuration. From the measured temperature distribution, effective thermal conductivity have been derived using the least square fitting method.

  • The main purpose of the paper is to analyze effect of geometrical parameters of the reentry capsules such as radius of the spherical cap, shoulder radius, back shell inclination angle and overall length on the flow field characteristics. The numerical simulation with viscous flow past ARD (Atmospheric Reentry Demonstrator), Soyuz (Russian) and OREX (Orbital Reentry EXperimental) reentry capsules for freestream Mach numbers range of 2.0-5.0 is carried out by solving time-dependent, axisymmetric, compressible laminar Navier-Stokes equations. These reentry capsules appear as bell, head light and saucer in shape. The flow field features around the reentry capsules such as bow shock wave, sonic line, expansion fan and recirculating flow region are well captured by the present numerical simulations. A low pressure is observed immediately downstream of the base region of the capsule which can be attributed to fill-up in the growing space between the shock wave and the reentry module. The back shell angle and the radius of the shoulder over the capsule are having a significant effect on the wall pressure distribution. The effects of geometrical parameters of the reentry capsules will useful input for the calculation of ballistic coefficient of the reentry module.
