  • This paper proposes a method for reusing kinematic design data for virtual facilities, Making a virtual model of a facility involves two major activities: geometric design (virtual model visualization) and kinematic design that should be remodeled frequently whenever design changes occur, Conventionally, a virtual model of an automated facility focuses on the design level, which mainly deals with design verification, alternative comparison, and geometric model diagnosis, Although a design level model can be designed with the information of past models from PLM system, a simulation level model is not sufficient utilized to be reused for kinematic design purpose, We propose a method for reusing kinematic information of a past simulation model to cope with this problem, We use the concept or the 'center of mass', which is a point representing the mean position of the matter in a body or system. And we also use comparison method of a boundary box to identity which 3D objects have to be involved from the design model to a link structure that is contained in the simulation model. Because a proposed method only use not a historical approach but a geometrical approach, it is more effective to apply to the field.

  • To deal with the problems of occlusion, pose variations and illumination changes in the object tracking system, a regression model weighted multi-templates mean-shift (MS) algorithm is proposed in this paper. Target templates and occlusion templates are extracted to compose a multi-templates set. Then, the MS algorithm is applied to the multi-templates set for obtaining the candidate areas. Moreover, a regression model is trained to estimate the Bhattacharyya coefficients between the templates and candidate areas. Finally, the geometric center of the tracked areas is considered as the object's position. The proposed algorithm is evaluated on several classical videos. The experimental results show that the regression model weighted multi-templates MS algorithm can track an object accurately in terms of occlusion, illumination changes and pose variations.

  • In reverse engineering area, it is rapidly developing reconstruction of surfaces from scanning or digitizing data, but geometric models of existing objects unavailable many industries. This paper describes new methodology of reverse engineering area, good strategies and important algorithms in reverse engineering area. Furthermore, proposing reconstruction of surface technique is presented. A method find base geometry and blending surface between them. Each based geometry is divided by triangular patch which are compared their normal vector for face grouping. Each group is categorized analytical surface such as a part of the cylinder, the sphere, the cone, and the plane that mean each based geometry surface. And then, each based geometry surface is implemented infinitive surface. Infinitive average surface's intersections are trimmed boundary representation model reconstruction. This method has several benefits such as the time efficiency and automatic functional modeling system in reverse engineering. Especially, it can be applied 3D scanner and 3D copier.

  • In this paper, we introduce a more improved camera modeling method for linear pushbroom images than the method proposed by Orun and Natarajan(ON). ON model shows an accuracy of within 1 pixel if more than 10 ground control points(GCPs) are provided. In general, there is high correlation between platform position and attitude parameters but ON model ignores attitude variation in order to overcome such correlation. We propose a new method that obtains an optimal solution set of parameters without ignoring the attitude variation. We first assume that attitude parameters are constant and estimate platform position's. Then we estimate platform attitude parameters using the values of estimated position parameters. As a result, we can set up an accurate camera model for a linear pushbroom satellite scene. In particular, we can apply the camera model to its surrounding scenes because our model provide sufficient information on satellite's position and attitude not only for a single scene but also for a whole imaging segment. We tested on two images: one with a pixel size 6.6m$\times$6.6m acquired from EOC(Electro Optical Camera), and the other with a pixel size 10m$\times$l0m acquired from SPOT. Our camera model procedures were applied to the images and gave satisfying results. We had obtained the root mean square errors of 0.5 pixel and 0.3 pixel with 25 GCPs and 23 GCPs, respectively.

  • In this study, in order to discuss the geometric correction methods of high-resolution IKONOS satellite image, the existing polynomial model and RFM which is able to rectify satellite image without auxiliary data are applied to IKONOS satellite image data. Then the accuracy of ground point versus number of GCPs and each order of RFM are assessed. A numerical instability is removed by application of Tikhonov regularization method. As the results of this study, the root mean square errors of RFM is decreased more than 2 pixels in comparison with the two dimensional polynomial model.

  • A simple bimodal model has been developed to analyze charged particle coagulation by modifying previously suggested bimdal model for evolution of particle generation and growth. In the present model, two monodisperse modes are used and 40 charge nodes are assigned to each mode to account both change of the particle size and charge distribution. In addition, we also implemented the effect of electrostatic dispersion loss in the present model. Based on the developed model, we analyzed coagulation of asymmetric bipolar charged particles by computing evolutions of particle number concentration, geometric mean diameter of particles, charge asymmetric ratio and geometric standard deviation of particle size distribution for various initial charge asymmetric ratios. The number concentration of asymmetric bipolar charged particles decreases faster than that of neutral particles but that does not give faster growth of particles since the electrostatic dispersion loss overwhelms particle growth by coagulation.

  • Hydraulic conductivity k is one of the most important engineering properties of soil. However, both field and laboratory procedures fur the determination of k are often tedious and expensive. This paper presents new models to predict k using statistical parameters from grain size distribution. A number of permeability tests far 36 types of sands mixed based on statistics were conducted to develop the regression-based models. Parameters used to estimate k are both the geometric mean and geometric standard deviation of the soil samples, or the particle-size distribution curve parameters such as D_{10},D_{50},D_{60}. Hydraulic conductivity predicted by this model is in good agreement with the laboratory measurements fir the soil samples obtained at 20 locations within the Korean Peninsula. The performances of the proposed models were also compared with those of existing models including Hazen's.

  • The fatigue life of welded joints is sensitive to welding residual stress and complexity of their geometric shapes. To predict the fatigue life more reasonably. the effects of welding residual stress and its relaxation on their fatigue strengths should be considered quantitatively, which are often regarded to be equivalent to the effects of mean stresses by external loads. The hot-spot stress concept should be also adopted which can reduce the dependence of fatigue strengths for various welding details. Considering the factors mentioned above, a fatigue life prediction model using the modified Goodman's diagram was proposed. In this model, an equivalent stress was introduced which is composed of the mean stress based on the hot-spot stress concept and the relaxed welding residual stress. From the verification of the proposed model to real welding details, it is proved that this model can be applied to predict reasonably their fatigue lives.

  • Due to the fact that 3D printing is applied to many areas of life, 3D printing models are often used illegally without any permission from the original providers. This paper presents a novel watermarking algorithm for the copyright protection and ownership identification for 3D printing based on the radius curvature of 3D triangle. 3D triangles are extracted and classified into groups based on radius curvature by the clustering algorithm, and then the mean radius curvature of each group will be computed for watermark embedding. The watermark data is embedded to the groups of 3D triangle by changing the mean radius curvature of each group. In each group, we select a 3D triangle which has the nearest radius curvature with the changed mean radius curvature. Finally, we change the vertices of the selected facet according to the changed radius curvature has been embedded watermark. In experiments, the distance error between the original 3D printing model and the watermarked 3D printing model is approximate zero, and the Bit Error Rate is also very low. From experimental results, we verify that the proposed algorithm is invisible and robustness with geometric attacks rotation, scaling and translation.
