The study on Alfonso Cum-on's Great Expectations (알폰소 쿠아론의 <위대한 유산> 분석:원작의 해석과 장르변용에 있어서 작가의 역활을 중심으로)

  • I analysis Alfonso Cuaron's comparing it with Charles Dickens' the original novel and David Lean's . In order to evaluate film which is based on classic novel, formal difference between film and novel, people's preference in those days and director's interpretations should be considered besides how the film follow the original novel faithfully. Regarding to these valuation basis, David Lean's film is true to the original novel and same time successful to add director's interpretation by using Mise en secne in it. Alfonso Cuaron is also succeed in filming well-made, people-like work by modifying the original novel with the convention of melo-drama genre and by using modern film form without breaking Hollywood classic film grammar.

  • 'Fantasy', the central notion of this essay, is discussed here more as a new paradigm in order to describe the structure of a work of art than as a stylistic characteristic proper to a specific genre of art. It means the whole situation and experience produced by two connected terms 'corporeal subject - screen'. Roland Barthes explained the 'semiographic painting' by Andre Masson as a field in which happens a certain connexion between the impulse of subject and the image, which views the painting not as a physical object but as a 'cinematic screen' ; painting may be redefined as a dream or a fantasy of the corporeal subject. And such an idea of 'art as fantasy' is closely related to the recent theoretical attempts consisting in abolishing the vision-centered conception of art since Renaissance. In this essay, the notion of fantasy as an aesthetic model is sketched by means of the Freud's notes on the fantasy 'A child is being beaten' and Lyotard's more advanced analyse on its attributes and operations. In Lyotard's analysis, fantasy is defined as a 'bloc' or a 'matrix-figure' featuring simultaneous conversion between the active and the passive, sadism and masochism, and coexistence of imcompossible meanings. In this sense, fantasy may be given to us as an analogical model from which we can outline the aesthetic characteristics of electronic media art involving virtual reality and interactivity.

  • 최근 IT기술의 발달로 인하여 다양한 분야에서 IT기술을 활용한 융합기술의 시도가 많아지고 있다. 특히 인터넷의 발달과 전자책(e-Book) 시장규모가 커짐에 따라 도서에 대한 정보가 많아지고 있으며, 이러한 정보를 분석하여 활용하는 서비스 시스템에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 하지만 현재 서비스되고 있는 대부분의 온라인 서점에서는 도서의 기본 서지정보와 같이 도서 본문 내용과는 무관한 출판사나 서점에서 도서를 관리하기 위한 정보만을 제공하고 있으며, 도서에 대한 다양한 정보를 활용한 키워드 추출 및 장르 분류를 통한 검색의 효율성 제공이 미흡한 현실이다. 본 논문에서는 도서의 본문 텍스트 정보를 마이닝 처리하여 도서 페이지의 흐름에 따라 포함되어있는 장르를 분류하고 이에 대한 결과를 사용자에게 친화적인 시각화 기법으로 제공되는 시스템을 설계하고 구축하였다. 제안한 서비스 시스템은 의미 분석을 기반으로 도서 정보의 구체적, 실제적, 직관적 정보를 제공하여 도서 추천 서비스에 활용될 것이다.

  • Mobile music market is growing. However, services what are applied recently are inaccurate to recommend music that a user is worth to prefer. So, this paper suggests music recommend system. This system recommend music that users prefer analyzing music information and user's musical propensity and using collaborative filtering. This system classify genre and extract factors what can be get using STFT's ZCR, Spectral roll-off, Spectral flux. So similar musics are clustered by these factors. And then, after divide mood of music's lyric, it finally recommend music automatically using collaborative filtering.

The Popular Culture Paradigm Represented on the Costume of Historical Dramas in 2000's (2000년대 사극의상에 표현된 대중문화 패러다임)

  • This study puts the significance on the trends, the characteristics, the factors and background of the typical diversification of 2000's historical dramas and of their costume in conjunction with the popular culture. We analyzed the materials like the official web-sites, the articles and promotional photos based on 47 TV historical dramas and 21 historical movies. And we, approaching the characteristics of popular culture in connection with the social, cultural, economic, emotional and technical aspects, considered the trends of the historical dramas and their connection with the paradigms of the contemporary popular culture. The results of this analysis are summarized as follows. First, the 2000's historical dramas & their costume, in the process to widen communication with the public, rose the values of popular culture, economic values, traditional values. Second, the diversification of the costumes in historical dramas, derived from the diversification of the era Genre characters and this is related to the characteristics of popular culture in 2000's such as the diversity, the nature of mixture, flexibility and the orientation of variation. Third, the new media environment and the imaging technology of 2000's raised completeness of the historical dramas and their costume. As the technical background placed the emphasis on realistic representation. Fourth, the costume of historical dramas in 2000's reflected the intention of the production in consideration with the emotional aspects of popular culture.

Analysis of Popular YouTube Channels Created in South Korea (국내에서 제작된 인기 YouTube 채널 분석)

  • This study analyzes the characteristics of popular channels of YouTube created in South Korea. As the science and technology have developed, the ordinary people come to upload their own videos after filming them. Regarding YouTube, the most popular video provide service in the world, this study researches the traits of popular YouTube channels produced in South Korea. Specifically, top 100 channels of 1) Most Subscribed 2) Most Viewed are researched, then it explores further by classifying them as 1) The number of the most subscribed/the most viewed 2) The number of videos 3) The number of viewed/subscribed 4) Genre 5) Type of creator. Thus, it not only reveals the multi-dimensional aspects of popular YouTube channels in South Korea but also prospects the market of Multi-Channel Network(MCN).

  • It has been attempted to approach a method to develop games efficiently. Many companies in game industries have their own developing process. A efficient game developing process or manufactory tools doesn't show the successful development, but it is necessary to propose the typical design method on viewpoint of game developer. In this paper, we propose how we solve RPG game character balancing problem in order to derive the balancing design to be applicable on a game. We will approach to game balancing design based on experienced experiments through balancing analysis of game character in RPG genre.

A Study on the Traditional Clothing Design by Applying the late Joseon's Women Underwear Style (조선후기 여성속옷을 응용한 의상디자인 연구)

  • This research analyzes the late Joseon's variously developed characteristics of women's underwear and its formative elements, and ultimately aims to apply such characteristics to designing modern outfits. The main purpose of the presented work is to give guidelines on utilizing the fashion legacy in a various way, and inheriting the traditional concept of beauty by developing it into modern fashion designs. The designing and producing of the work is based on the analysis of previous researches, genre paintings, and traditional costumes in museums. Based on this research, the application of traditional underwear design to today's outfits involves the following points. First, the presented work features the formative outlines of traditional underwear as an inspiration for outer garments. Secondly, various traditional textiles are used such as ramie fabrics, damask silk, silk fabrics, fur, etc. for four seasons and they are turned to practical use for modern outfits. Third, colors of choice are white and low saturation colors to create an elegant and serene atmosphere. Finally, traditional sewing techniques are specifically applied to modern fashion designs. Included are: Nubim technique, Gob-sol technique, and the patching method. This work pursues the design of practical use by tying up clothes with straps and knots to prevent them from falling off.

  • Street fighter II is a game that played an innovative role in the genre of fighting games in the 1990s. There are many elements that this game has played, but I would like to describe the character's background music. Is terms of sound, it is an excellent game with theme music suitable for twelve characters and voice that comes out when using each character's technique. Street Fighter II shows different patterns of background music depending on the charcater's fitness. I analyze it in harmonical way and try to study it form the perspective of music psychology.

  • Baroque music was the birth and growth era of modern music, but it was not composed for movies. Baroque music, however, is a feature that is inserted into the movies in many different forms, leading to the overall mood and narrative, and the ability to express the characters' feeling and inner word. Therefore, in this study, five Baroque music works, including the main theme song 'Vivaldi Cantata RV.684' in the movie , are produced, and analyzed through tonal, tempo, dynamics, musical notes, tones, rhythms, musical instrument, and genre. Through analysis, we will study what epic functions and roles Baroque music plays in movies.
