  • In this paper, the generalized (p, q)-poly-Genocchi polynomials with variable a is defined by generalizing it more, and various properties of this polynomial are introduced. To do this, we define a generating function and use the definition to introduce some interesting properties as follows: basic properties, relation between Stirling numbers of the second kind and generalized (p, q)-poly-Genocchi polynomials with variable a and symmetric properties.

  • This paper presents experimental analysis of a friction-driven wheel responsible for generating wheel squeal. Squeal noise generating mechanism has been examined under the laboratory condition by the model rig. Creep characteristics and squeal noise were observed by varying relative velocity of the wheel with respect to the rail and friction coefficient. Computational radiating noise analysis was also performed based on the modal analysis and noise transfer function measurement of the object wheel.

  • In this paper, we establish an explicit formula for r-Dowling numbers in terms of r-Whitney Lah and r-Whitney numbers of the second kind. This is a generalization of the Qi formula for Bell numbers in terms of Lah and Stirling numbers of the second kind. Moreover, we define the q, r-Dowling numbers, q, r-Whitney Lah numbers and q, r-Whitney numbers of the first kind and obtain several fundamental properties of these numbers such as orthogonality and inverse relations, recurrence relations, and generating functions. Hence, we derive an analogous Qi formula for q, r-Dowling numbers expressed in terms of q, r-Whitney Lah numbers and q, r-Whitney numbers of the second kind.

  • The equality relation is very important in mechanical theorem proving procedures. A proposed inference rule called RHU-resolution is intended to extend the hyperparamodulation[23, 9] by introducing a bidirectional proof search that simultaneously employs a forward reasoning and a backward reasoning, and generalize it by incorporating beneflts of extended hyper steps with a preprocessing process, that includes a subsumption check in an equality graph and a high level planning. The forward reasoning in RHU-resolution may replace the role of the function substitution link.[9] That is, RHU-deduction without the function substitution link gets a proof. In order to control explosive generation of positive equalities by the forward reasoning, we haue put some restrictions on input clauses and k-pd links, and also have included a control strategy for a positive-positive linkage, like the set-of-support concept, A linking path between two end terms can be found by simple checking of linked unifiability using the concept of a linked unification. We tried to prevent redundant resolvents from generating by preprocessing using a subsumption check in the subsumption based eauality graph(SPD-Graph)so that the search space for possible RHU-resolution may be reduced.

  • We construct a general bi-basic inverse series relation which provides extension to several q-polynomials including the Askey-Wilson polynomials and the q-Racah polynomials. We introduce a general class of polynomials suggested by this general inverse pair which would unify certain polynomials such as the q-extended Jacobi polynomials and q-Konhauser polynomials. We then emphasize on applications of the general inverse pair and obtain the generating function relations, summation formulas involving the associated polynomials and derive the p-deformation of some of the q-analogues of Riordan's classes of inverse series relations. We also illustrate the companion matrix corresponding to the general class of polynomials; this is followed by a chart showing the reducibility of the extended p-deformed Askey-Wilson polynomials as well as the extended p-deformed q-Racah polynomials.

  • This paper presents a new method that generates a path that has no collision with the obstacles or the characters by using the three motion parameters, and automatically creates natural motions of characters that are confined to the path. Our method consists of three parameters: the joint information parameter, the behavior information parameter, and the environment information parameter. The joint information parameters are extracted from the joint angle data of the character and this information is used when creating a path following motion by finding the relation-function of the parameters on each joint. A user can set the behavior information parameter such as velocity, status, and preference and this information is used for creating different paths, motions, and collision avoidance patterns. A user can create the virtual environment such as road and obstacle, also. The environment is stored as environment information parameters to be used later in generating a path without collision. The path is generated using Hermit-curve and each control point is set at important places.

  • In this study, the deformation characteristics of atrtificially fractured joints of granite under normal and shear loading were investigated. To obtain the characteristics of joint deformation, compression and shear tests were performed in the laboratory on three different sizes of rock specimens. The rock used in the experimens was Iksan granite. Joints were produced artificially by fracturing using the apparatus for generating extension-joint. Joint normal deformability was studied by conducting cyclic loading tests on the joints. Joint closure varied non-linearly with normal stress through cyclic loadings. As normal stress increased, the joints gradually reached a state of maximum joint closure. The relation between normal stress and joint closure for mated and unmated joints was well described by the hyperbolic and exponential function, respectively. Joint shear deformability was studied by performing direct shear tests under normal stresses on the joints. it was shown that the behaviour in the prepeak range was non-linear and joint shear stiffness depended on the size of specimen and the normal stress.

  • Lindsay (1994) and Basu et al (1997) show that another density-based distance called the negative exponential disparity (NED) is an excellent competitor to the Hellinger distance (HD) in generating an asymptotically fully efficient and robust estimator. Bhattacharya and Basu (1996) consider estimation of the locations of several normal populations when an order relation between them is known to be true. They empirically show that the robust HD based weighted likelihood estimators compare favorably with the M-estimators based on Huber's $\psi$ function, the Gastworth estimator, and the trimmed mean estimator. In this paper we investigate the performance of the weighted likelihood estimator based on the NED as a robust alternative relative to that based on the HD. The NED based estimator is found to be quite competitive in the settings considered by Bhattacharya and Basu.

  • The likelihood-based inference in a nonlinear generalized mixed model often requires computing moments of truncated multivariate normal random variables. Many methods have been proposed for the computation using a recurrence relation or the moment generating function; however, these methods rely on high dimensional numerical integrations. The numerical method is known to be inefficient for high dimensional integral in accuracy. Besides the accuracy, the methods demand too much computing time to use them in practical analyses. In this note, a moment calculation method is proposed under an assumption of a certain covariance structure that occurred mostly in generalized mixed models. The method needs only low dimensional numerical integrations.

  • Autoregressive moving average (ARMA) models involve nonlinearity in the model coefficients because of unobserved lagged errors, which complicates the likelihood function and makes the posterior density analytically intractable. In order to overcome this problem of posterior analysis, some approximation methods have been proposed in literature. In this paper we first review the main analytic approximations proposed to approximate the posterior density of ARMA models to be analytically tractable, which include Newbold, Zellner-Reynolds, and Broemeling-Shaarawy approximations. We then use the Kullback-Leibler divergence to study the relation between these three analytic approximations and to measure the distance between their derived approximate posteriors for ARMA models. In addition, we evaluate the impact of the approximate posteriors distance in Bayesian estimates of mean and precision of the model coefficients by generating a large number of Monte Carlo simulations from the approximate posteriors. Simulation study results show that the approximate posteriors of Newbold and Zellner-Reynolds are very close to each other, and their estimates have higher precision compared to those of Broemeling-Shaarawy approximation. Same results are obtained from the application to real-world time series datasets.
