Preparation and Characterization of Screen-printed Lead Zirconate Titanate Thick Films

  • Ferroelectric PZT heterolayered thick films were fabricated by the alkoxide-based sol-gel method. PZT(Zr/Ti=60/40) paste was made and alternately screen-printed on the $Al_2O_3$ substrates. We have introduced a press-treatment to obtain a good densification of screen printed films. The porosity of the thick films was decreased with increasing the applied pressure and the thick films pressed at $0.6ton/cm^2$ showed the dense microstructure and thickness of about $76{\mu}m$. The relative dielectric constant increased with increasing the applied pressure. The remanent polarization and coercive field increased with increasing applied pressure and the values for the PZT thick films pressed at $0.6ton/cm^2$ were $16.6{\mu}C/cm^2$, 76.9 kV/cm, respectively.

  • Many attempts have been made to use hydrogel as del ivory systems for various drug and vioactive materials to prolong and control their pharmacological activities. Rectal administration of drugs by using hydrogel bases, such as poloxamer ABA block copolymer (Pluronic F-127) gels, polyacrylic acid (Carbomer 934, 940, or 941) aqueous gels, and polyvilyl alcohol gels, have been reported on the preparation and potential suppository use of new gels(Eudragit L, Eudragit S, and Eudispert) that are block copolymers of methacrylic acid and methyl methacrylate. If) These hydrogel and xerogel preparations, especially Eudispert hv gels, show excellent staying and bioadhesive effects in the lower part of the rectum in rats and rabbits compared with those of polyethylene glycol (PEG)2000 and Witepsol H-15(or S-55) suppositories. Visual and optical microscopic observation of rectal membrances indicated no irritation or abnormality after administration of Eudispert hv tydrogel and xerogel.

Gas Sensing Properties of Au-decorated NiO Nanofibers (Au 촉매금속이 첨가된 NiO 나노섬유의 가스 검출 특성)

  • NiO nanofibers with Au nanoparticles were synthesized by sol-gel and electrospinning techniques, in which the reduction process by ultraviolet exposure is included for the growth of Au nanoparticles in the electrospinning solution. FE-SEM(Field Emission Scanning Electron Microscopy), TEM(Transmission Electron Microscopy) revealed that the synthesized nanofibers had the diameter of approximately 200 nm. X-ray diffraction showed the successful formation of Au-decorated NiO nanofibers. Gas sensing tests of Au-decorated NiO nanofibers were performed using reducing gases of CO, and $C_6H_6$, $C_7H_8$, $C_2H_5OH$. Compared to as-synthesized NiO nanofibers, the response of Au-loaded NiO nanofibers to CO gas was found to be about 3.4 times increased. On the other hand, the response increases were only 1.1-1.3 times for $C_6H_6$, $C_7H_8$, and $C_2H_5OH$.

  • In the screening of actinomycetes culture filtrate for inhibitor of adenosine deaminase, a novel inhibitor was found in a cultured broth of strain J-144K. The optimum conditions for the adenosine deaminase inhibitor production from the isolated strain J-144K were evaluated. This strain showed the maximum yield of adenosine deaminase inhibitor when grown at pH 7.0 and 30$\circ$C for 60 hours in the medium of 1.0% dextrose, 0.5% yeast extract, 0.5% peptone and 0.1% KH$_{2}$PO$_{4}$ under the aerobic condition. Through the activated charcoal extraction, methanol fractionation, Dowex 50 H$^{+}$ X-8 ion exchange column chromatography, Dowex CI$^{-}$ X-8 ion exchange column chromatography, and Sephadex G-15 gel filtration procedures, this inhibitor was purified with three materials.

Effect of Fashion Coordination Cues on Liking of the Male Wearers

  • The purposes of this study were to found out the effects of appearance variables in fashion coordination cues of a male stimulus person and perceiver's traits on the liking of the stimulus person with person perception theory as the research background. The study consisted of a survey and a quasi-experiment. The experimental materials used for this study were 18 stimuli and instruments to measure fashion interest, liking toward the stimulus, and gender body ideology. The sampling method was a convenient sampling. The subjects consisted of 940 male and female undergraduate students aged from 18 to 51, in three areas including Daejoen, Cheongyang and Nonsan provinces. The data collection was conducted between May 1 and June 30, 2004. The validity of the measuring instruments were confirmed by pre-tests and judge group discussions, and reliability was evaluated by Cronbach' alpha analysis. The results showed that Clothing formality, make-up, hair style of stimulus person, and traits of subjects meaningfully affected on the liking toward the stimulus person. The result of the study will serve as a basic information on total fashion coordination for young male adults.

  • Monodisperse, micron-sized, hybrid particles having a core-shell structure were prepared by coating the surface of poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA) microspheres with silica and by copolymerizing acrylamide (AAm) to supply the hydrogen bonding effect by means of the amide groups. Tetraethoxysilane (TEOS) was then slowly dropped onto the medium under certain conditions. Because of the hydrogen bonding between the amide of the PMMA particles and the hydroxyl group of the hydrolyzed silanol, a silica shell was generated on the PMMA core particles. The morphology of the hybrid particles was investigated with transmission (TEM) and scanning (SEM) electron microscopy as a function of the medium conditions and the amount of TEOS. Improved thermal properties were observed by TGA analysis.

  • We propose a novel way for enhancement of efficiency on a quasi solid-state dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). It contained gel type electrolyte mixing the liquid crystal (LC) of specific concentration and applied voltage for alignment of the LC. Aligned LC is supported charge transfer inside electrolyte and efficiency is increased in DSSC. We made a quasi solid-state DSSC which applied DC voltage or not and have measured the power conversion efficiency (PCE) and the fill factor. From measurement, we obtain high performances in case of cell applied voltage compare to reference cell.

  • We fabricated Dye-Sensitized Solar Cells(DSSCs) which are modified by using liquid crystals(LCs) and electro-deposition on cathode electrode in order to apply to flexible DSSCs. We deposited Pt metal layers on ITO electrode through the method of electro-deposition process during low-temperature. We could expect the long-term stability by using ionic liquid(IL) and liquid crystals(LCs). We can also see the enhancement of efficiency through orientation of LCs in gel-state electrolyte using liquid crystals at the DSSCs.

  • Photopolymers have been of considerable due to their easy of processing and high sensitivity. Exposure of photopolymers to optical source produce recroding mark where the light initiates a photoreaction that occurs preferentially in regions of high illumination. The photoreaction typically involves polymerization of an acrylic or epoxy monomer dispersed together with a photoinitiators in a polymeric binder. A number of photopolymerizable materials have been developed to apply them in 3D optical recording such as holographic or 3-dimensional data storage. In this presentation, photopolymers derived from sol-gel matrix and transparent polymer binder are summarized. The effect of monomer composition and plasticizers on optical recording will be discussed based on the monomer transport during the photopolymerization.
