  • The quantity of gas which can be supplied by LPG storage tank become a standard of selection. In the absence of the maximum evaporation rates from LPG storage tanks by tank capacity, continuation using time, air temperature, it is in a problem for the dissemination of LPG Storage tanks. In this paper, we showed the maximum evaporation rates from LPG storage tanks by tank capacity, air temperature, continuous using time and remaining level.

  • To extend the shelf-life of chicken breast meat, samples were treated with gel-packs containing slow-released $ClO_2$ gas at 7-15 ppm for 8 days at $4^{\circ}C$. And the changes in lipid oxidation and taste compounds of the samples were investigated. TBARS value of the chicken breast was slightly increased during storage. TBARS value of gas treatments was similar to the control during storage. There were 14 fatty acids in the chicken breast. And there was no change in the fatty acid composition during storage, and there was no significant difference between the control and gas treatments. The content of free amino acids was gradually increased during storage. The content of free amino acids were not significantly different between the control and gas treatments during storage. The content of GMP in the control and gas treatments were decreased during storage. However, gas treatments showed slightly higher content than that of control. AMP was not significantly different between the control and gas treatments. IMP gradually decreased during storage and the content of inosine and hypoxanthine was increased. IMP, inosine and hypoxanthine contents of gas treatment were similar to control, but the control tended to change more rapidly than those of gas treatments.

  • This paper relates to a technology for monitoring a liquefied gas storage tank in the special gas field where demand is increasing owing to the continuous growth of related fields such as the semiconductor, display, and ICT convergence electronics industries. We have proposed a system for real - time monitoring using wireless sensor network technology, and implemented a system consisting of a sensor unit, transmitter module, and receiver module to be attached to a liquefied gas storage tank. The system was applied to LCO2 tanks among various liquefied gas storage tanks to verify the feasibility. The storage tanks employed in the experiments has capacities of 16,179 l and was 1,920 mm in inner diameter. Furthermore, the density was 1.03 g/l. The measured data were compared with reference data on the remaining gas level versus the $CO_2$ height of the surface, expressed using a conventional water meter, provided by an existing storage tank supplier. The experimental results show that the data is similar to the standard data provided by the tank supplier, and has a high accuracy and reliability within an error range of 0.03%.

  • The aim of this study is achieving customer satisfaction by finding cost-effective installation of storage tanks in the gas filling stations. Pros and cons were measured by comparison between above and underground tanks using Pugh methods. In particular, severe problems regarding gas safety are expected to be resolved by reducing the frequency of gas accidents occurred in mass storage facilities. To this end, we have used Pugh's method to compare the advantages and disadvantages of the existing storage tanks-Ground above type and underground type. After the analyses, it is shown that underground containment storage tank can provide the highest degree of safety and Real estate among Ground above type, Underground buried type and underground containment type storage tanks.

  • The domestic demand of natural gas has increased continuously due to the sudden rise of oil price and regulations on greenhouse gas to global warming. In order to improve the supply security of natural gas market in Korea, the agreement on supply of pipeline natural gas (PNG) in Russia was signed between Gazprom and Korea Gas Corporation in 2008. If the supply plan of Russian natural gas is realized, underground storage facilities would be required in order to balance supply and demand of natural gas because the gas demand is concentrated in the winter. This study investigated the safety of the storage facility in quantitative way considering several design parameters such as gas pressure, depth of the storage cavern, rock condition and in-situ horizontal stress ratio. Two dimensional stress analyses were conducted using axi- symmetry condition to examine the behavior of cavern depending upon suggested design parameters. Results showed that the factor of safety, defined as the ratio of 'shear strength'/'shear stress', was largely affected by the depth, rock class and gas pressure but was insensitive to the coefficient of lateral pressure(Ko).

  • In order to efficiently control boil-off rate of a liquefied hydrogen tank, the important thing is to maintain an appropriate vacuum level. however, compared to small and medium-sized storage tank, it is very difficult to create and maintain vacuum in large-capacity storage tanks. In this study, we aim to determine the target level of future large-capacity storage tank technology development and secure basic data on performance test methods by analyzing the corelation between evaporation gas and thermal conductivity of liquefied hydrogen storage tanks.

  • In the present study, a physical model was built for the Jintan underground gas storage cavern group according to the similarity theory. In this regard, four ellipsoid caverns were built with scaled in-situ stresses and internal pressure. Then the stability of underground caverns was analyzed. The obtained results demonstrate that loss of internal pressure adversely affects the safety of caverns and attention should be paid during the operation of gas storage.

  • In liquid hydrogen storage tanks, tank damage or leakage in the surrounding pipes possess a major risk. Since these tanks store huge amounts of the fluid among all the liquid hydrogen process facilities, there is a high risk of leakage-related accidents. Therefore, in this study, we conducted a risk assessment of liquid hydrogen leakage for a grid-type liquid hydrogen storage tank (lattice-type pressure vessel (LPV): 18 m3) that overcame the low space efficiency of the existing pressure vessel shape. Through a commercially developed three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics program, the geometry of the site, where the liquid hydrogen storage tank will be installed, was obtained and simulations of the leakage scenarios for each situation were performed. From the computational flow analysis results, the pool formation behavior in the event of liquid hydrogen leakage was identified, and the resulting damage range was predicted.

  • Gas hydrates are ice-like crystalline compounds that form under low temperature and elevated pressure conditions. Although hydrate formation can pose serious flow-assurance problems in the gas pipelines or facilities, gas hydrates present a novel means for natural gas storage and transportation with potential applications in a wide variety of areas. An important property of hydrates that makes them attractive for use in gas storage and transportation is their very high gas-to-solid ratio. In addition to the high gas content, gas hydrates are remarkably stable. The main barrier to development of gas hydrate technology is the lack of an effective method to mass produce gas hydrate in solid form. The first objective of this study is investigating the characteristics of gas hydrate formation related to several factors such as pressure, temperature, water-to-storage volume ratio, concentration of SDS, heat transfer and whether stirred or not respectively. And the second objective is clarifying the relation between the formation efficiency and each factor in order to find the proper way or direction to improve the formation performance.

  • Outer tank concretes of LNG storage tank are composed of prestressed concrete structures that act as a protective wall. The danger such as the collapse of structures will exist if concrete structures is not secured due to the deterioration. Concrete compressive strength directly related to the safety of structures can be predicted by using estimation equation of compressive strength through rebound hardness test and ultrasonic wave velocity method. But, there is no the estimation equation of LNG storage tank for a relation between NDT data and real strength. In this study, to obtain more accurate real strengths for LNG storage tank, core specimens were sampled from walls of pilot LNG storage tank. The rebound hardness test of general NDT for concrete structures was carried out at each 3 positions for the four areas. The compressive strength estimation equation of LNG storage tank was developed by using the data for rebound hardness test of pilot LNG storage tank and compressive strength test of sampled concrete cores.
