A design method of rule-based fuzzy modeling is presented for the model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. The proposed rule-based fuzzy modeling implements system structure and parameter identification in the efficient form of ``IF....,THEN...', using the theories of optimization theory , linguistic fuzzy implication rules and fuzzy c-means clustering. Three kinds of method for fuzzy modeling presented in this paper include simplified inference (type I), linear inference (type 2), and modified linear inference (type 3). In order to identify premise structure and parameter of fuzzy implication rules, fuzzy c- means clustering and modified complex method are used respectively and the least sequare method is utilized for the identification of optimum consequence parameters. Time series data for gas furance and those for sewage treatment process are used to evaluate the performance of the proposed rule-based fuzzy modeling. Comparison shows that the proposed method can produce the fuzzy model with higher accuracy than previous other studies.
In this paper, we introduce a genetic optimization of fuzzy set-fuzzy model using successive tuning method to carry out the model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. To identity we use genetic alrogithrt1 (GA) sand C-Means clustering. GA is used for determination the number of input, the seleced input variables, the number of membership function, and the conclusion inference type. Information Granules (IG) with the aid of C-Means clustering algorithm help determine the initial paramters of fuzzy model such as the initial apexes of the, membership functions in the premise part and the initial values of polyminial functions in the consequence part of the fuzzy rules. The overall design arises as a hybrid structural and parametric optimization. Genetic algorithms and C-Means clustering are used to generate the structurally as well as parametrically optimized fuzzy model. To identify the structure and estimate parameters of the fuzzy model we introduce the successive tuning method with variant generation-based evolution by means of GA. Numerical example is included to evaluate the performance of the proposed model.
In this paper, we analyze the input-output characteristics of fuzzy inference systems according to the division of entire input spaces and the fuzzy reasoning methods to identify the fuzzy model for nonlinear process. And fuzzy model is expressed by identifying the structure and parameters of the system by means of input variables, fuzzy partition of input spaces, and consequence polynomial functions. In the premise part of the rules Min-Max method using the minimum and maximum values of input data set and C-Means clustering algorithm forming input data into the hard clusters are used for identification of fuzzy model and membership function is used as a series of triangular membership function. In the consequence part of the rules fuzzy reasoning is conducted by two types of inferences. The identification of the consequence parameters, namely polynomial coefficients, of the rules are carried out by the standard least square method. And lastly, we use gas furnace process which is widely used in nonlinear process and we evaluate the performance for this nonlinear process.

Image segmentation is the basic step in the field of the image processing for pattern recognition, environment recognition, and context analysis. The Otsu's automatic threshold selection, which determines the optimal threshold value to maximize the between class scatter using the distribution information of the normalized histogram of a image, is the famous method among the various image segmentation methods. For the automatic threshold selection proposed by Otsu, it is difficult to determine the optimal threshold value by considering the sub-region characteristic of the image because the Otsu's algorithm analyzes the global histogram of a image. In this paper, to alleviate this difficulty of Otsu's image segmentation algorithm and to improve image segmentation capability, the original image is divided into several sub-images by using context fuzzy c-means algorithm. The proposed fuzzy Otsu threshold algorithm is applied to the divided sub-images and the several threshold values are obtained.

Change detection of remote sensing images is a profound challenge in the field of remote sensing image analysis. This paper proposes a novel change detection method for bitemporal remote sensing images based on feature fusion and fuzzy c-means (FCM). Different from the state-of-the-art methods that mainly utilize a single image feature for difference image construction, the proposed method investigates the fusion of multiple image features for the task. The subsequent problem is regarded as the difference image classification problem, where a modified fuzzy c-means approach is proposed to analyze the difference image. The proposed method has been validated on real bitemporal remote sensing data sets. Experimental results confirmed the effectiveness of the proposed method.

In this study, we introduce a new category of fuzzy inference systems based on information granulation to carry out the model identification of complex and nonlinear systems. Informal speaking, information granules are viewed as linked collections of objects (data, in particular) drawn together by the criteria of proximity, similarity, or functionality. To identify the structure of fuzzy rules we use genetic algorithms (GAs). Granulation of information with the aid of Hard C-Means (HCM) clustering algorithm help determine the initial parameters of fuzzy model such as the initial apexes of the membership functions and the initial values of polynomial functions being used in the premise and consequence part of the fuzzy rules. And the initial parameters are tuned effectively with the aid of the genetic algorithms and the least square method (LSM). The proposed model is contrasted with the performance of the conventional fuzzy models in the literature.

Evolutionary algorithms such as genetic algorithm (GA) have been proven their effectiveness when applying to the design of fuzzy models. However, it tends to suffer from computationally expensWive due to the slow convergence speed. In this study, we propose an approach to develop fuzzy models by means of an improved differential evolution (IDE) to overcome this limitation. The improved differential evolution (IDE) is realized by means of an orthogonal approach and differential evolution. With the invoking orthogonal method, the IDE can search the solution space more efficiently. In the design of fuzzy models, we concern two mechanisms, namely structure identification and parameter estimation. The structure identification is supported by the IDE and C-Means while the parameter estimation is realized via IDE and a standard least square error method. Experimental studies demonstrate that the proposed model leads to improved performance. The proposed model is also contrasted with the quality of some fuzzy models already reported in the literature.

This paper deal with uncertainty problem by using Type-2 fuzzy logic set for nonlinear system modeling. We design Type-2 fuzzy logic system in which the antecedent and the consequent part of rules are given as Type-2 fuzzy set and also analyze the performance of the ensuing nonlinear model with uncertainty. Here, the apexes of the antecedent membership functions of rules are decided by C-means clustering algorithm and the apexes of the consequent membership functions of rules are learned by using back-propagation based on gradient decent method. Also, the parameters related to the fuzzy model are optimized by means of particle swarm optimization. The proposed model is demonstrated with the aid of two representative numerical examples, such as mathematical synthetic data set and Mackey-Glass time series data set and also we discuss the approximation as well as generalization abilities for the model.
