  • Identifying asteroid families, which are groups of asteroids with similar orbital properties, is important for understanding the formation and evolution of the solar system, and probing the origins of Near-Earth Objects (NEOs). Although asteroid taxonomy can be used to identify and refine asteroid families, there are numerous asteroids which are not taxonomically classified yet. Korea Microlensing Telescope Network (KMTNet) can be useful to investigate types of that asteroids, because the telescope can observe a number of asteroids at once by its large field of view. Using KMTNet data, we confirmed that the taxonomic classification of the asteroids is possible by plotting color-color diagram. There is a clear division between C-type and S-type, but ambiguous division between C-type and X-type. In the future, we will observe and classify asteroids which are not classified yet and utilize the data to identify and refine asteroid families.

  • This study analyzed trends and contents of ancestral ritual foods of Korean traditional Jong-ga as a domestic thesis. In searching the keywords related to ancestral ritual foods using a thesis search site, a total of 15 theses in seven journals were selected for analysis. Three theses from 1996 to 1999, six theses from 2005 to 2008, and another six theses from 2012 to 2016 were announced. In measuring frequency by dividing case families analyzed in the thesis into region, there were 83 families, including seven families from Gyeonggi (8.4%), seven families from Chungcheong (8.4%), two families from Honam (2.4%), and 67 families from Yeongnam (80.8%). Fifty-four families out of 67 families from Yeongnam were located in Andong-si, occupying 65.1% of the 83 families. The family showing the highest frequency was 'Seoae Jong-ga' (12 times). The family clan with the highest frequency was eight families of the 'Jinseong Lee clan' In the future, it would be necessary to understand the research flow through analysis of research trends in ancestral ritual foods of Jong-ga as well as interdisciplinary research and methodological diversification of studies on ancestral ritual foods of Jong-ga.

  • Children from low income families are vulnerable to physical problems including obesity, asthma, hypertension and psychological problems including depression, anxiety. This study was done to identify trends in welfare policy for children from low-income families and future direction for solving health disparity problems. Dream Start is a government-sponsored project that offers services for vulnerable children, ages 0 (include pregnant woman) to 12 years and their families. The Korean Government has made an effort to alleviate health disparity through the 'Health Plan' by establishing health objectives. However, in spite of these efforts by the Korean government, health disparity has worsened in Korea. In order to strengthen family function as well as promote growth and development for vulnerable children, experts in child care need to be significantly involved in identifying neglected children in the community.

  • An Ethnographic Decision Model (EDM) to explore socioeconomic, cultural, and psychological factors related to the attitudes toward childless family was developed in this study. From college students' protocol writings, this research found that the participants in general had conservative views about childless families. They tended to simplify childless families as either infertile couples or DINK (Double Income No Kids) couples. The participants explained why they decided to have or not to have children in the future. They seemed to believe in a traditional family structure and idealize parental roles, while recognizing the high economic and psychological cost of rearing children. They claimed that Korean society set high standards for parents, which were too difficult to reach. The participants, having been educated to believe in self-actualization through their successful careers, struggled to choose between a family with children and one without children. This study was conducted with a holistic view, and highlighted the importance of interactions between traditional ideology about the family and socioeconomic contexts when interpreting college students' perspectives on childless family.

  • This study examined social integration policies for multi-cultural families in Korea and the United States through a literature review and internet research. Because the United States has developed and maintained its own culture, this was an appropriate country to compare to Korea in terms of social integration policy. There were four main results. First, both countries enforce assimilation policies for multi-cultural families. Second, most social integration programs and services for multi-cultural families in Korea are carried out by the Multi-cultural Family Support Centers, which are supported by the national and local governments in Korea. However, because the U.S. government has preserved a laissez-faire approach to policies for immigrant families, there are no government-based support centers for multi-cultural families in the United States. Third, both countries focus on the assimilation of multi-cultural families. Nevertheless, the U.S. government promotes a balance between ethnic identity and U.S. citizenship. Fourth, the U.S. government strongly supports second-generation education and development programs that recognize the second generation as a human resource for the future of society. In summary, even though there were some cultural differences between the two countries, the United States' assimilation policies based on ethnic identity would be useful for Korean integration policies. In addition, it is very important to offer opportunities for mutual integration in everyday life between Korean families and multi-cultural families.
