  • Fundamental features of the arc stability in DC arc furnace of 720V/100kA/72MW have been investigated. Cassie-Mayr arc model has been employed and applied for the target dc arc furnace. In order to characterize the parameters of Cassie-Mayr arc model and the behavior of unstable arc dynamics, the advanced arc simulations of magneto-hydrodynamics (MHD) has been performed. The MHD based arc simulation has been validated in the subcomponent level, for the free burning arc set up in the laboratory. From the results of MHD simulation, dc arc dynamic resistance is proposed to be an effective arc stability function reflecting the instability of dynamic arc behavior. The experimental result confirms the usefulness of proposed dynamic arc resistance as arc stability function. The proposed arc stability function can be regarded as an effective criterion for the overall power conversion system to maintain highly stable arcing operation leading to better productivity and reliability.

  • In this study, the initial strength reduction of coal gasification slag fine powders was confirmed through previous studies when used in cement formulations. It is also confirmed that the blast furnace slag is mixed with cementitious coal blast furnace slag, which is similar to coal gasification slag, to incorporate gypsum in order to prevent initial strength deterioration. In order to analyze the reactivity of coal gasification slag by desulfurization gypsum, the formation of hydrates and their reactivity at early ages were confirmed by electron microscope. In order to confirm the reactivity, the gypsum samples were prepared with unincorporated type and 2% mixed type. Experimental results showed that 2% of the desulfurized gypsum specimens reacted more actively than the uninjured ones.

  • The EMP slip rate was compared with the general concrete using the electric arc furnace slag as an aggregate. Experimental results show that the shielding rate of concrete specimens using electric arc furnace slag increases. It is considered that the shielding rate is increased due to the high Fe content in the components of the electric arc furnace slag aggregate.

  • This study is conducted to investigate the characteristics of cracks depending on the different mixture rates of calcium hydroxide and distilled water in high-strength concrete, which is substituted with a high percentage of blast-furnace slag, by using specimens produced under different heating temperatures: 600℃, 800℃, and 1000℃, respectively. According to the results of the study, the specimen heated under the temperature of 600℃ did not produce cracks; the specimen heated under 800℃ produced little cracks and showed no difference between calcium hydroxide and distilled water; whereas the specimen heated under 1000℃ produced cracks larger than 5mm on average in the case of calcium hydroxide, compared to distilled water.

  • The aim of this study is to investigate the properties of hardened mortar with chlorine by-pass system(CBS) in cement production in blast furnace slag(BS) mixed cement. Compressive strength had a tendency to be increased when the CBS Dust was replaced by 10% at the BS replacement rate of 0%. The 65% combination of BS showed a tendency to decrease as the CBS Dust exchange rate increases. Flexural strength was reduced as CBS Dust exchange rate increases in BS replacement ratio of 0%. The use of 5% of CBS dust can contribute to enhance the quality of non reinforced concrete.

  • The environmental pollution problem the globally related to global warming arises, the demand for the solar power generation increases. But is generated sludge about 2tons in order to produce 1ton in the solar power generation used main material polysilicon. In this way, the arising sludge there is not method recycling and it is all discarded. Therefore, in this research, cement is not used dynamic properties tries to be analyze inorganic binder based on blast furnace slag and polysilicon sludge ratio. The appropriate replacement ratio of the experimental result polysilicon sludge was to be 8%.

  • Three dimensional numerical analysis for the turbulent reactive flow and radiative heat transfer in the walking beam type of a reheat furnace in POSCO has been carried out by the industrial code FLUENT. Computations an based on the conservation equations of mass, momentum, energy and species with the $k-{\varepsilon}$ turbulence model and mixture fraction/PDF(Probability Density Function) approach for the combustion rate. Radiative heat transfer is computed by the discrete ordinates radiation model in combination with the weighted-sum-of-gray-gas model for the absorption coefficient of gas medium. The predicted temperture distribution in the reheat furnace and energy flow fractions are in reasonable agreement with the measurement data.

  • ZnO thin films which were deposited by RF magnetron sputtering system were annealed by furnace and insitu heat treatment methods. We investigated the effect of heat treatment method on physical properties of ZnO thin films. The structural and optical properties of ZnO thin films were improved by heat treatment. Through the annealing treatment of ZnO film by furnace, the good crystallinity and ultraviolet emission were obtained. These results are attributed to the improved formation of Zn-O bond in ZnO thin film annealed at by furnace. We confirm that the formation of Zn-O bond plays an important role in obtaining the excellent structural and optical properties of ZnO thin films.

  • This study investigated on the differentiation of microstructure of blast furnace slag concrete(BBSC) using Mercury Intrusion Porosimetry(MIP). From the test result, it was found that the BBSC did not show shortcomings of high temperature curing. The BBSC gives more fineness microstructure than that of plain concrete when it is cured same curing condition. The curing age making stable structure to poor surroundings was 28, 14, 7 days for blast furnace concrete cured at 5, 20, $30^{\circ}C$, respectively.
