  • In this paper, we carried out the fundamental experiments on the resistance of chemical attack of mortar using the electric arc furnace slag as fine aggregate. The mortar specimens made from the electric arc furnace slag (EAF slag) as fine aggregate were immersed in artificial seawater and two sorts of chemical solutions, and measured to investigate the change of compressive strength and weight.

  • In this paper, An expert system for electric furnace with time delay is proposed. The expert system uses Fuzzy control theory. The conventional controller uses Auto-Tuning control theory. From experiment, we can obtain that the response of expert system is superior to the response of the conventional controller. In this experiment, the expert controller is implemented with the IBM PC. The 8751 One chip processor controling the electric furnace is used.

  • A full-scale simulation of steel mill reheating furnace was performed by using parallel computing technology. Turbulent flow as well as chemical reaction is considered and solved in a coupled manner while radiation is also calculated. The movement of slab is taken into account so that a more precise observation of its heating characteristics becomes possible through this numerical analysis.

  • The aim of this research was evaluating strength characteristics of foamed concrete using Ladle Furnace slag with GGBFs. For all mixtures, because of the early setting and strength development, it was possible to deform the formwork and measure the compressive strength within 3 hours.

  • Surface glossing and physical properties of exposed concrete varied with blast furnace slag content are dsicussed in this paper. According to experimental results, as the content of blast furnace slag increases, concrete gains high strength moderately at later stage and surface glossing increase. It shows that glossing decrease with age. Surface glossing shows high as W/B decreases and surface coating is applied. Concrete according to form type shows good results in surface glossing in order for acryl form, fancy form and steel form.

  • An experimental study has been conducted to evaluate the effects of $CO_{2}$ on heat transfer from hydrogen oxygen-enriched flame. Experiments were performed on flames stabilized by a co-flow swirl burner, which mounted on top of the furnace. Five composition conditions of oxidizer were chosen with replacing $N_{2}$ with $CO_{2}$. In a steady state, total and radiative heat flux rates from the flame to the wall of furnace has been measured using heat flux meters. Temperature distribution in furnace also has been checked. Increasing $CO_{2}$ ratio in the oxidizer, the dominant heat transfer mode was changed into convection from radiation. Temperature in the furnace decreased but total heat flux increased.

  • The main objective of this study is to analyze the heat transfer characteristics in the electric melting furnace. Local temperatures are measured at various location in the furnace using the B-type thermocouples. In this paper, the numerical simulation was performed using the ANSYS software, and compared with experimental data. Mathematical heat transfer model for the prediction of temperature distribution has been developed by considering the thermal radiation among heating element, crucible and insulating materials. The results show that the temperature distributions predicted by the numerical simulation agree with experimental results comparatively.

  • A mathematical model was developed and programmed for computer simulation of a prototype hot water boiler system with rice hull furnace to predict the temperature distributions in the rice hull furnace and water tank, mass flow rate of hot water and thermal efficiency of the system under various operation and design conditions. The effects of feed rate of rice hull, thickness of the furnace wall, the type of heat exchanger, diameter of the water circulation pipe, etc, on the performance of the system can be evaluated with this model. The validity and simulation results of this model will be published in the next paper.
