  • Distribution management system or microgrid energy management system plays an important role in monitoring, operation and control of electrical distribution systems by utilizing IT infrastructure. Nowadays, the rapid increase of the distributed resources makes the conventional management system have some additional functionality for the reliable operation due to intermittent renewables and the efficient operation on the economical purpose. In this paper, the brief standard software functional requirements of microgrid energy management system are provided through survey of the recent commercial products of the major vendors, and furthermore the architectures of microgrid energy management system are provided in comparison with major suppliers' microgrid energy management system. The summary of investigation will be able to make the developers and researchers focus on the specific functionality in the real world.

  • Consumers want to get healthful food which guarantee the aging control, anti-tumor, immunity-reinforcement, obesity prevention, beauty, prevention of adult disease and well-being. Because they want natural foods without food additives and environmental pollution which were used for convenience, we should develop the various food to guarantee the safety, wholesomeness and convenience. And so, we must study and identify basically the functionality and sanitation in foods to use practically. The companies should develop new products and corporate with universities and government. Because there are much more food informations, people believe unidentified information and continue wrong behavior such as food faddism. Consequently consumers should choose wisely their foods in consideration of their health, time, money and purpose.

  • A new PIM in-process joining technique has been developed for more complicated and functional PIM components by application of the exuded wax from the green compacts during solvent debinding step. At first, various stainless steels and iron compacts with rectangular shape were combined, and the joining behaviors and properties were investigated by shear and tensile test, and microscopic observation. Subsequently, perfect joined three pieces of thin and hollow compacts were obtained for the combination of same and different stainless steels, and it was difficult to join the iron and stainless steel compacts in hydrogen atmosphere because of the different starting temperature of shrinkage. However, pretty good joined iron and stainless steel compacts were obtained by consideration of particle size and vacuum atmosphere. Finally, for the combination of ferro-silicon and austenitic stainless steel compacts, high functionality (magnetic (1.60Tes1a) & non-magnetic) and perfect joint were obtained.

  • aThe terms of hard and soft as applied to wheats are descriptions of the texture of the kernel. A hard wheat kernel required greater force to cause it to disintegrate than those a soft wheat kernel. Factors than can affect the measurement of hardness outnumber those that affect hardness itself. Kernel texture is the most important single characteristic that affects the functionality of a common wheat. It affect the way in which must be tempered for milling ; the yield and the particle size, and density of flour particles ; and the end use properties in milling, breadmaking, production of soft wheat products, and noodle-making. Papers are reviewed from various sources not only hardness but flour functionality.

  • In this letter, we propose a new functionality to scalable video coding (SVC), that is, the support of multiple region of interests (ROIs) for heterogeneous display resolution. The main objective of SVC is to provide temporal, spatial, and quality scalability of an encoded bitstream. The ROI is an area that is semantically important to a particular user, especially users with heterogeneous display resolutions. Less transmission bandwidth is needed compared to when the entire region is transmitted/decoded and then sub-sampled or cropped. To support multiple ROIs in SVC, we adopt flexible macroblock ordering (FMO), a tool defined in H.264, and based on it, we propose a way to encode and, independently, decode ROIs. The proposed method is implemented on the joint scalable video model (JSVM) and its functionality verified.

  • This paper presents the survivability, mobility, and functionality of a rover as part of a radar system for polar regions. Rovers can provide autonomy and precision for radars used to measure ice thickness and other characteristics of ice sheets in Greenland and Antarctica. These rovers can be used to move radar antennas in precise patterns for synthetic aperture radars while providing environmental protection and power to the onboard radar equipment. This paper describes the mobility, actuation, sensing, winterization, control, and virtual prototyping of a polar rover. The rover has been successfully tested in Greenland.

  • To increase the functionality of the memories, previous studies have deifned faults models and proposed functional testing algorithms with low complexity. Although conventional testing depended strongly on functional (voltage) testing method, it couldn't detect short and open defects caused by gate oxide short and spot defect which can afect memory reliability. Therefore, IDDQ (quiescent power supply current) testing is required to detect defects and thus can obtain high reliability. In this paper, we consider resistive shorts on gate-source, gate-drain, and drain-source as well as opens in mOS FET and observe behavior of the memory by analyzing voltage at storge nodes of the memory and IDDQ resulting from PSPICE simulation. Finally, using this behavioral analysis, we propose a linear testing algorithm of complexity O(N) which can be applicable to both functional testing and IDDQ testing simultaneously to obtain high functionality and reliability.

  • In this paper, we present an RTOS named HEART (Highly Expandable AOP-based Real-Time operating system). It is modularized into a single base and multiple optional features. The base implements a core functionality and each feature implements a specific functionality of RTOS such as interrupt nesting, multithreading, inter-thread communication, and etc. Users can customize HEART just by selecting needed features. Then a specialized version of HEART is automatically generated. We argue that HEART enables the rapid construction of optimized and application-specific RTOSes for diverse embedded systems.

  • The purpose of this study was to identify VMD structural elements of apparel stores, and related variables. The related variables are contained shopping orientation, store types, consumer satisfaction and the intention to purchase in apparel stores. The data was collected from a questionnaire conducted on 378 female adults and was analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, cluster analysis, ANDVA, regression, Duncan test, and reliability analysis. The results were as follows: (1) VMD structural elements of apparel store consisted of four factors: coordination/fitness, fashionability, attractiveness, and functionality. Shopping orientation consisted of six factors: recreational, rational, fashion oriented, convenience oriented, price conscious, and brand conscious. Shopper types consisted of four groups: recreational type shopper, economic type shopper, high involved shopper, and convenience oriented shopper. (2) Significant differences were find out between those shopper types and VMD structural elements. Significant differences were find out between store types and VMD structural elements. (3) VMD structural elements(coordination/fitness, functionality, fashionability) were influenced consumer satisfaction and the intention to purchase.

  • This paper presents the development of an Intelligent Cavity Layout Design System (ICLDS) for multiple cavity injection moulds. The system is intended to assist mould designers in cavity layout design at concept design stage. The complexities and principles of cavity layout design as well as various dependencies in injection mould design are introduced. The knowledge in cavity layout design is summarized and classified. The functionality, the overall structure and general process of ICLDS are explained. The paper also discusses such issues as knowledge representation and case-based reasoning used in the development of the system. The functionality of the system is illustrated with an example of cavity layout design problem.
