  • This paper is the part I of the full study about improved structure of fully interconnected ATM switch to develop the small sized switch element and practical implemention of switch network. This part I paper describes about proposed switch structure, performance evaluations and some of considerations to practical implementation. The proposed structure is constructed of two step buffering scheme in a filtered multiplexer. First step buffering is carried out by small sized dedicated buffers located at each input port. And second step buffering is provided by a large sized common buffer at the output port. To control bursty traffic, we use speed up factor in multiplexing and priority polling according to the levels of buffer occupancy. Proposed structure was evaluated by computer simulation with two evaluation points. One is comparision of multiplexing discipline between hub polling and priority polling. The ogher is overall which should be considered to improve the practical implementation.

  • The BLAST-OFDM system is an efficient method for high data rate multimedia transmission in futurewireless communication system. In this paper, a linear preceding mechanism and an efficient antenna-subcarrier assignment algorithm are proposed for the conventional BLAST-OFDM system, in order to utilize the full spatial diversity and the interleaved frequency diversity. By computer simulation, the proposed system has proved to achieve 4-5㏈ gain over the conventional BLAST-OFDM system.

  • The FLL(frequency locked loop) circuit is used to generate an output signal that tracks an input reference signal. The locking time of FLL is short compared to PLL(phase locked loop) circuit because the output signal of FLL is synchronized only in frequency. Also the FLL is designed to allow the circuit to be fully integrated. In this paper, the temperature stable FLL circuit is designed by using full CMOS transistors. When the temperature is varied from $-20^{\circ}C$ to $70^{\circ}C$, the variation of output frequency is about from -2% to 1.6% from HSPICE simulation results.

  • Sine CAM structure is regular structure as that of RAM of PLA, CAM generator program is easy to implement. This program outputs CAM layout in the form of CIF(Caltech Intermediate Format) and graphic display program is debugging or displaying CAM generator output, which are implemented on PC/AT with MS C(5.0) graphic library and C language. CIF parser is programmed with YACC(Yet Another Compiler Compiler) and LEX (Lexical Analyzer) in order to flat the CIF data. For the purposed of plotting the layout output using ROLAND XY plotter is developed. By combining these program described above, from CIF generation to layout plotting can be executed on pull-down menu according to user's option.

  • In this paper, we implement a content based image retrieval system for image searching by visual features from the image databases on WWW (world wide web). The image retrieval system finds the images that contain the most similar color regions after the system automatically extracts color features from the input image. We can select one of two query methods which use a full image of $4{\times}4$ 16 sketched color region. The image similarity is calculated on the histogram intersection distance and the histogram Euclidean distance. As the experimental results show that the two different query types provide the precision/recall 0.84/0.92 and 0.85/0.93 respectively, this retrieval system has been able to obtain high performance and validity.

  • 단백질 상호작용에 대한 연구는 생명현상의 전반적인 원리를 규명하는데 필수적이다. 생물학 문헌 데이터베이스로부터 단백질 상호작용 정보를 찾는 것은 많은 시간과 노력이 필요하기 때문에 컴퓨터로 자동화시키는 방법이 요구된다. 문헌으로부터 단백질 상호작용 정보를 추출하는 작업은 단순 문자열 비교를 통한 정보검색으로는 한계가 있으므로 자연어 처리 기법을 적용해 문장의 문법 구조, 품사 정보 등을 이용하면 더 정확한 추출이 가능하다. 본 논문에서는 자연어 처리를 이용하여 문장을 트리로 표현한 뒤 가지치기, 병합 등을 통해 추상화된 트리를 패턴과 매칭하는 방법을 제안한다. 그리고 실제 데이터를 이용한 실험 결과를 통해 기존 방법에 비해 더 높아진 정확도를 확인하였다.

  • WDM망을 구성하는데 있어서 광학적 파장은 가장 중요한 자원의 하나이다. 그러나 주어진 통신 요구를 모두 수용하면서 동시에 최소한의 파장만을 사용하는 WDM망의 설계 문제는 이미 NP-complete 계열의 문제인 것으로 밝혀졌으며 많은 휴리스틱 알고리즘들이 제안되었다. 본 논문에서는 임의의 물리적 망 위상(topology)과 완전 연결(full connection)형태의 통신 요구가 주어질 경우, 요구되는 파장 경로(Wavelength Path, lightpath)를 확립하기 위한 방법으로써 각 노드 사이의 최단 거리 경로를 기반으로 하여 탐색 공간을 만들고 구성된 탐색 공간 내에서 Branch-and-bound 탐색방식을 수행하는 파장 경로 설정 알고리즘을 제안한다. Branch-and-bound탐색방식은 초기에 좋은 bound조건을 가질 경우 주어진 시간 안에 보다 넓은 탐색 공간을 검색할 수 있으므로 최초의 탐색에서 가능한 좋은 성능의 파장 경로 설정을 발견할 수 있어야한다. 시뮬레이션 실험을 통하여 최초의 탐색에서 발견한 파장 경로 설정과 구성된 탐색 공간내의 최적해를 얻고, cut-set를이용하여 요구 파장 개수의 하위 한계값을 계산한후, 이를 상호 비교하여 제안된 알고리즘의 성능을 평가한다.

  • In this paper, we proposed on the direction of self-repairing mimicking the cell on the digital system design. Three-dimensional array of cells rather than using the original structure of FPGA, an array of blocks for efficient error detection methods were investigated. With a certain regularity, so the design method in detail by dividing the full array. The digital circuits can be detected fault location easily and quickly.

  • This letter introduces a stereoscopic video broadcasting system that provides 3D visual service and has full backward compatibility with legacy digital television (DTV) service in the same channel capacity. The proposed stereoscopic video broadcasting system in this letter is composed of both a hybrid codec and a multiplexer with a newly defined stereoscopic-related signaling method. In conclusion, the proposed method can be effectively applied for 3D broadcasting services without major changes in legacy broadcasting platforms.

  • With the advent of ubiquitous computing environments, it has become increasingly important for applications to take full advantage of contextual information, such as the user's location, to offer greater services to the user without any explicit requests. In this paper, we propose context-aware active services based on context-aware middleware for URC systems (CAMUS). The CAMUS is a middleware that provides context-aware applications with a development and execution methodology. Accordingly, the applications based on CAMUS respond in a timely fashion to contextual information. This paper presents the system architecture of CAMUS and illustrates the content recommendation and control service agents with the properties, operations, and tasks for context-aware active services. To evaluate CAMUS, we apply the proposed active services to a TV application domain. We implement and experiment with a TV content recommendation service agent, a control service agent, and TV tasks based on CAMUS. The implemented content recommendation service agent divides the user's preferences into common and specific models to apply other recommendations and applications easily, including the TV content recommendations.
