Slacks Pattern Development for Chinese Males in Their 20s (중국 20대 남성의 슬랙스 패턴 개발)

  • This study held physical measurement for male subjects in their 20s living in Ningbo City, Zhejiang Province in China, showing the biggest market in men's clothes. Their representative lower body types with average shapes and sizes were chosen so as to develop men's slacks patterns with better dimension fitness. The following are the results of the analysis: 1. Slacks patterns were made based on the mean measurement values of 5 people, who were closest to the representative body types, from the index*absolute group of 47 people. The dimensions of application for slacks pattern-making were 77cm(omphalion waist circumference), 91cm(hip circumference), and 103cm(slacks length). 2. For the comparison of high-fitness and more-room pattern dimensions, 5 styles of slacks were made: Korean, Chinese, British, Japanese, and industrial. In the dressing fitness tests, industrial patterns had excellent appearance and Japanese ones had the best function. 3. Based on the analysis results of slacks pattern comparison, the target slacks were experimentally made and received superior evaluation points to the compared slacks patterns in two times of evaluation for appearance and function. 4. The final slacks pattern in this research had the following dimensions: front waist circumference: W(1-2cm with room included)/4-1cm, back waist circumference: W/4+1cm, front hip circumference: H(9$\sim$10cm with room included)/4-1cm, back hip circumference: H/4+1cm, crotch length: H/4-1.5cm, hip length: crotch length-H/12, front crotch extension: H/16-1.5cm, back crotch extension: H/8+3cm, knee line: 33cm below crotch line, front tuck amount: 4cm, back dart amount: 2.5cm(center) and 1.5cm(side), and back dart length: 10cm (center) and 6cm(side).

  • For constructing an intelligent multimedia database system for medical diagnosis, we are focusing on two technological points. One is a retrieval algorithm of databases, and the other is a coding algorithm of multimedia contents. For the first, previously we proposed a front-end database preprocessor called“keyword-network”, and in this paper we present its extended model providing an intelligent logical AND searching function especially for medical differential diagnosis. For the second, we present examples of multimedia intellectual coding methods for cardiovascular examination records.

  • The design analysis of axisymmetric, multi-stage deep drawing dies was performed using the rigid-viscoplastic finite element formulation. In the formulation, the axisymmetric CFS algorithm was employed. Hill's non-quadratic normal anisotropic yield criterion and isotropic hardening rule were considered. For trial initial displacements and tool contact points, the geometric force equilibrium method was adopted. In order to see the validity of the formulation, the multi-stage deep drawing processes of shell-cylinder front part of hydraulic booster were simulated. The simulation showed good agreements with measurements and PAM-STAMP.

  • The integrative Internet program was developed for the selection of optimal brassiere components according to the breast types of middle-aged women. In this program, a customer is classified into a certain group through three steps of a discriminant analysis. Three variables used in the analysis include breast volume, radii of curvature of under-breast curve, and a distance between inner breast points. Using individual data of three variables, the optimal brassiere components, i.e. brassiere cup size, curvature of front panel and wire, distance between cups, are suggested for each customer. Discrimination of breast types using only 2D measurements is also included for those who do not have easy access to a 3D measurement device.

  • In this paper, 3D sound rendering using multichannel speakers is studied. Virtual 3D sound technology has mainly been researched with binaural system. The conventional binaural sound systems reproduce the desired sound at two arbitrary points using two speakers in 3DD space. However, it is hard to implement the localization of virtual source at back/front and top/below positions because the HRTF of an individual is unique just like the fingerprint. Most of all, the HRTF is highly sensitive to the elevation change.   • This paper describes the path planning of an autonomous mobile robot using one camera-based sequence image processing. As an assumption, all objects in front of the mobile robot are located on the same plane where robot moves. Using the moving camera grounded on the autonomous mobile robot, the robot extracts the angular points of obstacle objects, calculates the height using the assumption and discrepancy between two consecutive images.   • From surface flow visualization on a MIRA notchback reference model using oil flow technique, the topology of the singular points of the skin friction lines are delineated. Separation and reattachment lines at the front screen, at the A-pillar, at the C-pillar and on the rear side of the car including the trunk have been identified. It is worth to mention that two vortices emerging from the top of the trunk coil in the opposite direction as that vortices starting from the C-pillar edge. The positions of the singular points and the separation and reattachment lines and the foci of the vortices provide a sensitive database for validation of CFD-codes

Safety Evaluation Methods for design of the baseball helmet (야구용 헬멧의 안전성 평가 방법)

  • In order to protect the head, baseball helmet must to have proper strength and to absorb the kinetic energy. The purposes of this study are to validate whether the helmet have the protecting ability or not. We performed three kinds of experiment to know about the this ability. To find out the limit of displacement at 4 points(front, rear, right side, and left side), the static load by magnetic dial gauges were used, and to validate the ability of absorption, drop tests were peformed from 0.5 and 1.0 meter. Futhermore, we calculated natural frequency of the helmets by the principle of Lissajous Diagram and we performed FEM(Finite Element Method) analysis. From the results of these experiments, we found that the displacement of helmet was largest at rear point and it was smallest at left-side point(ear-covered part). The ability of absorption was better at the left-side point than the other points.

  • This paper is concerned with the development and evaluation of the camera calibration method for a real-time head tracking system. Tracking of head movements is important in the design of an eye-controlled human/computer interface and the area of virtual environment. We proposed a video-based head tracking system. A camera was mounted on the subject's head and it took the front view containing eight 3-dimensional reference points(passive retr0-reflecting markers) fixed at the known position(computer monitor). The reference points were captured by image processing board. These points were used to calculate the position (3-dimensional) and orientation of the camera. A suitable camera calibration method for providing accurate extrinsic camera parameters was proposed. The method has three steps. In the first step, the image center was calibrated using the method of varying focal length. In the second step, the focal length and the scale factor were calibrated from the Direct Linear Transformation (DLT) matrix obtained from the known position and orientation of the camera. In the third step, the position and orientation of the camera was calculated from the DLT matrix, using the calibrated intrinsic camera parameters. Experimental results showed that the average error of camera positions (3- dimensional) is about $0.53^{\circ}C$, the angular errors of camera orientations are less than $0.55^{\circ}C$and the data aquisition rate is about 10Hz. The results of this study can be applied to the tracking of head movements related to the eye-controlled human/computer interface and the virtual environment.

Advanced 360-Degree Integral-Floating Display Using a Hidden Point Removal Operator and a Hexagonal Lens Array

  • An enhanced 360-degree integral-floating three-dimensional display system using a hexagonal lens array and a hidden point removal operator is proposed. Only the visible points of the chosen three-dimensional point cloud model are detected by the hidden point removal operator for each rotating step of the anamorphic optics system, and elemental image arrays are generated for the detected visible points from the corresponding viewpoint. Each elemental image of the elemental image array is generated by a hexagonal grid, due to being captured through a hexagonal lens array. The hidden point removal operator eliminates the overlap problem of points in front and behind, and the hexagonal lens array captures the elemental image arrays with more accurate approximation, so in the end the quality of the displayed image is improved. In an experiment, an anamorphic-optics-system-based 360-degree integral-floating display with improved image quality is demonstrated.
