Focal length에 의한 전자 렌즈의 제어 신호 생성을 위한 하드웨어 설계 (Hardware Design for the Control Signal Generation of Electron Optic by Focal Length)

  • Condenser lens and objective lens are used to demagnify the image of the crossover to the final spot size. In lens, electrons are focused by magnetic fields. This fields is fringing field. It is important in electron focusing. Electron focusing occurs the radial component field and axial component field. Radial component produces rotational force and axial component produces radial force. Radial force causes the electron's trajectory to curve toward the optic axis and corss it. Focal length decreases as the current of lens increases. In this paper, we use the focal length for desiging the hardware of lens current control and present the results.

The Effect of Perimeter on Characteristics of Frequency-Agile Tunable Capacitors

  • In this work, tunable capacitors using a finger-type electrode are designed and characterized for frequency-agile RF circuit applications. Their top electrodes with different area and line width are designed in types of the finger for a long conducting perimeter which results in enhanced fringing-electric fields in order to improve their tunability. The tunable varactors were fabricated on a quartz substrate employing a multi-layer dielectric of a para/ferro/para-electric thin film. Compared to the conventional capacitor, finger-type capacitors are characterized in terms of effective capacitance and tunablility. Their effective capacitance and tunability with the long perimeter increase 24~40% and 7~12%, respectively, due to enhanced fringing electric fields from 1 to 2.5 GHz, compared to the conventional ones.

Mesh Patterned High Tunable MIM Capacitor

  • In this work, a novel tunable MIM capacitor with the meshed electrode is proposed first in order to improve the tunability characteristics using fringe fields. The capacitors were fabricated on a low-resistivity Si substrate employing lead zinc niobate (PZN) thin film dielectric. The fabricated capacitor with the meshed electrode, whose line width and spacing was $2.5{\mu}m$, achieved the effective capacitance tunability of 31 % that is higher value of 18.5 % than that of the conventional capacitor with the rectangular-type electrode.

구면사각패치 마이크로스트립 공진기 해석 (Analysis of the Spherical-Rectangular Patch Microstrip Resonator)

  • 공진기(cavity)이론을 적용하여 등각면을 이루는 구면사각패치 마이크로스트립 공진기를 해석한다. 후린징전자계(fringing field) 때문에 발생되는 공진주파수의 오차를 줄이기 위하여 실효유전상수를 고려하여 공진주파수를 계산한다. 해석된 결과식에 따라 Epsilam 10기판으로 3GHz에서 동작하는 전송형 구면사각패치 마이크로스트립 공진기를 설계 제작하였다. 측정 결과는 공진주파수 2.985GHz, 반사손실 -44.4dB로써 이론값과 거의 일치하였다.

Optimization and Characterization of Gate Electrode Dependent Flicker Noise in Silicon Nanowire Transistors

  • The low frequency noise in Silicon Nanowire Field Effect Transistors is analyzed by characterizing the gate electrode dependence on various geometrical parameters. It shows that gate electrodes have a strong impact in the flicker noise of Silicon Nanowire Field effect transistors. Optimization of gate electrode was done by comparing different performance metrics such a DIBL, SS, $I_{on}/I_{off}$ and fringing capacitance using TCAD simulations. Molybdenum based gate electrode showed significant improvement in terms of high drive current, Low DIBL and high $I_{on}/I_{off}$. The noise power sepctral density is reduced by characterizing the device at higher frequencies. Silicon Nanowire with Si3N4 spacer decreases the drain current spectral density which interms reduces the fringing fields there by decreasing the flicker noise.

  • 본 논문은 핑거 (finger) 형 전극에 의해 증강된 가장자리 전계가 가변 캐패시터의 가변성을 개선시킬 수 있음을 보여주고 있다. 가장자리가 긴 전극을 설계하기 위해 면적과 선폭이 다른 finger 형태의 전극들이 설계되었다. 가변 바렉터들은 quartz 기판위에 para/ferro/para의 가변 다층 유전체 박막을 이용하여 제작되었다. 기존의 일반적인 가변 캐패시터와 비교해서, 핑거형 캐패시터들의 유효 용량와 가변성 특성을 분석하였다. 1~2.5 GHz에서 증강된 가장자리 전계로 인해 긴 가장자리 전극으로 설계된 가변 캐패시터의 유효 용량과 가변성이 각각 24~40 % 그리고 7~12 % 증가하였다.

최적화된 DGS 회로를 이용한 IMT-2000용 Class-AB 대전력증폭기의 설계 및 구현 (Design and Implementation of Class-AB High Power Amplifier for IMT-2000 System using Optimized Defected Ground Structure)

  • 본 논문에서는 DGS(Defected Ground Structure)에 대한 새로운 등가 회로를 제안하였으며, 이를 IMT-2000용 AB급 대전력 증폭기 설계에 적용하여 증폭기의 성능을 향상시켰다. 새로운 DGS 등가 회로는 병렬의 LC 공진기와 병렬 형태의 캐패시턴스로 구성되어 금속 접지면에 에칭된 결함으로 인한 프린징(fringing) 효과를 반영하도록 하였으며, 전력 증폭기 출 단 정합 회로를 최적화하기 위하여 사용되었다. 이전의 논문에서도 하모닉 성분의 억제와 증폭기의 효율 개선을 위하여 DGS를 사용하였으나 DGS 등가 회로의 해석은 없었으며(1), 본 논문에서는 이를 개선하여 회로 시뮬레이션을 통한 정한 DGS의 등가 회로를 AB급 증폭기의 출력 단 정합회로에 적용함으로써 성능 향상과 함께 증폭기 제작 후에 튜닝이 거의 필요없는 정확한 설계 방법을 제시하였다. 이와 같이 제안된 전력 증폭기의 설계 방법은 정확한 설계 결과를 제공함으로써 최적 부하 조건과 하모닉 성분의 제거 성능을 동시에 만족시킬 수 있었다. 제안된 방법의 효과를 입증하기 위하여 DGS를 적용한 기존의 방법과 새로이 제안된 방법을 사용하여 20W급의 전력 증폭기를 설계 및 제작하였으며, 그 측정 결과를 비교하였다.

  • The electron beam machining provides very high resolution up to nanometer scale, hence the E-beam writing technology is rapidly growing in MEMS and nano-engineering areas. In the optical column of the e-beam writer, there are several lenses condensing and focusing electron beams from electron gun with fringing magnetic fields. To achieve small spot size as 1-2 nm for higher power of electron beam, magnetic lenses should be designed considering their magnetic field distribution. In this paper, the magnetic field at two condenser lenses and object lens are calculated with finite element method and discussed its performances.

A Novel Inter-Digital Tunable Capacitor for Low-Operation Voltage Applications

  • In this paper, a tunable capacitor like an interdigital one is presented for low-voltage applications. In order to reduce operation voltage by enhancing fringing electric fields, two finger-patterned electrodes are vertically separated by employing a multi-layer thin film dielectric of a para-/ferro-/para-electrics without spacing between electrodes. The proposed tunable capacitor was fabricated on a quartz wafer and its characteristics are analyzed in terms of effective capacitance and tunability with a function of applied voltages, compared to the conventional interdigital capacitor (IDC). At 8V and 2 GHz, the proposed tunable capacitor shows the tunability of 18 % that is 10.3 % higher than that of the compared one.

전자빔 가공기의 전자렌즈 순철순도가 빔 제어에 미치는 영향 (A Study on the Influence of Pure Iron Purity of Electric Lens on the Electron Beam Control)

  • The electron beam machining provides very high resolution up to nanometer scale, hence the E-beam writing technology is rapidly growing in MEMS and nano-engineering areas. In the optical column of the e-beam writer, there are several lenses condensing and focusing electron beams from electron gun with fringing magnetic fields. The polepieces of these lenses are usually made with high purity iron which is hard to fabricate and very expensive. In this paper, the possibility of using polepiece of object lens composed with pure iron and low carbon steel was examined to reduce cost. The magnetic field at object lens was calculated with finite element method, and practical focusing qualities of SEM pictures were observed comparing for the object lens polepieces with pure iron and two type of composed with low carbon steel.
