Sequential Pattern Mining is the mining approach which addresses the problem of discovering the existent maximal frequent sequences in a given databases. In the daily and scientific life, sequential data are available and used everywhere based on their representative forms as text, weather data, satellite data streams, business transactions, telecommunications records, experimental runs, DNA sequences, histories of medical records, etc. Discovering sequential patterns can assist user or scientist on predicting coming activities, interpreting recurring phenomena or extracting similarities. For the sake of that purpose, the core of sequential pattern mining is finding the frequent sequence which is contained frequently in all data sequences. Beside the discovery of frequent itemsets, sequential pattern mining requires the arrangement of those itemsets in sequences and the discovery of which of those are frequent. So before mining sequences, the main task is checking if one sequence is a subsequence of another sequence in the database. In this paper, we implement the subsequence matching method as the preprocessing step for sequential pattern mining. Matched sequences in our implementation are the normalized sequences as the form of number chain. The result which is given by this method is the review of matching information between input mapped sequences.
Data mining techniques are used to find important and meaningful information from huge databases, and pattern mining is one of the significant data mining techniques. Pattern mining is a method of discovering useful patterns from the huge databases. Frequent pattern mining which is one of the pattern mining extracts patterns having higher frequencies than a minimum support threshold from databases, and the patterns are called frequent patterns. Traditional frequent pattern mining is based on a single minimum support threshold for the whole database to perform mining frequent patterns. This single support model implicitly supposes that all of the items in the database have the same nature. In real world applications, however, each item in databases can have relative characteristics, and thus an appropriate pattern mining technique which reflects the characteristics is required. In the framework of frequent pattern mining, where the natures of items are not considered, it needs to set the single minimum support threshold to a too low value for mining patterns containing rare items. It leads to too many patterns including meaningless items though. In contrast, we cannot mine any pattern if a too high threshold is used. This dilemma is called the rare item problem. To solve this problem, the initial researches proposed approximate approaches which split data into several groups according to item frequencies or group related rare items. However, these methods cannot find all of the frequent patterns including rare frequent patterns due to being based on approximate techniques. Hence, pattern mining model with multiple minimum supports is proposed in order to solve the rare item problem. In the model, each item has a corresponding minimum support threshold, called MIS (Minimum Item Support), and it is calculated based on item frequencies in databases. The multiple minimum supports model finds all of the rare frequent patterns without generating meaningless patterns and losing significant patterns by applying the MIS. Meanwhile, candidate patterns are extracted during a process of mining frequent patterns, and the only single minimum support is compared with frequencies of the candidate patterns in the single minimum support model. Therefore, the characteristics of items consist of the candidate patterns are not reflected. In addition, the rare item problem occurs in the model. In order to address this issue in the multiple minimum supports model, the minimum MIS value among all of the values of items in a candidate pattern is used as a minimum support threshold with respect to the candidate pattern for considering its characteristics. For efficiently mining frequent patterns including rare frequent patterns by adopting the above concept, tree based algorithms of the multiple minimum supports model sort items in a tree according to MIS descending order in contrast to those of the single minimum support model, where the items are ordered in frequency descending order. In this paper, we study the characteristics of the frequent pattern mining based on multiple minimum supports and conduct performance evaluation with a general frequent pattern mining algorithm in terms of runtime, memory usage, and scalability. Experimental results show that the multiple minimum supports based algorithm outperforms the single minimum support based one and demands more memory usage for MIS information. Moreover, the compared algorithms have a good scalability in the results.
Since frequent pattern mining was proposed in order to search for hidden, useful pattern information from large-scale databases, various types of mining approaches and applications have been researched. Especially, frequent graph pattern mining was suggested to effectively deal with recent data that have been complicated continually, and a variety of efficient graph mining algorithms have been studied. Graph patterns obtained from graph databases have their own importance and characteristics different from one another according to the elements composing them and their lengths. However, traditional frequent graph pattern mining approaches have the limitations that do not consider such problems. That is, the existing methods consider only one minimum support threshold regardless of the lengths of graph patterns extracted from their mining operations and do not use any of the patterns' weight factors; therefore, a large number of actually useless graph patterns may be generated. Small graph patterns with a few vertices and edges tend to be interesting when their weighted supports are relatively high, while large ones with many elements can be useful even if their weighted supports are relatively low. For this reason, we propose a weight-based frequent graph pattern mining algorithm considering length-decreasing support constraints. Comprehensive experimental results provided in this paper show that the proposed method guarantees more outstanding performance compared to a state-of-the-art graph mining algorithm in terms of pattern generation, runtime, and memory usage.
Various methods of frequent pattern mining have been applied to genetic problems, specifically, to the combined association of two genotypes (a genotype pattern, or diplotype) at different DNA variants with disease. These methods have the ability to come up with a selection of genotype patterns that are more common in affected than unaffected individuals, and the assessment of statistical significance for these selected patterns poses some unique problems, which are briefly outlined here.

We introduce a efficient vertical mining algorithm that reduces searching complexity for frequent k-itemsets significantly. This method includes sorting items by their LSI(Least Support Itemsets) similarity and then searching frequent itemsets in tree-based manner. The search tree structure provides several useful heuristics and therefore, reduces search space significantly at early stages. Experimental results on various data sets shows that the proposed algorithm improves searching performance compared to other algorithms, especially for a database having long pattern.
Sequential pattern mining finds all of the frequent sequences satisfying a minimum support threshold in a large database. However, when mining long frequent sequences, or when using very low support thresholds, the performance of currently reported algorithms often degrades dramatically. In this paper, we propose a novel sequential pattern algorithm using only closed frequent sequences which are small subset of very large frequent sequences. Our algorithm generates the candidate sequences by depth-first search strategy in order to effectively prune. using bitmap representation of underlying databases, we can effectively calculate supports in terms of bit operations and prune sequences in much less time. Performance study shows that our algorithm outperforms the previous algorithms.

Group of genes controls the functioning of a cell by complex interactions. These interacting gene groups are called Gene Regulatory Networks (GRNs). Two previous data mining approaches, clustering and classification have been used to analyze gene expression data. While these mining tools are useful for determining membership of genes by homology, they don't identify the regulatory relationships among genes found in the same class of molecular actions. Furthermore, we need to understand the mechanism of how genes relate and how they regulate one another. In order to detect regulatory relationships among genes from time-series Microarray data, we propose a novel approach using frequent pattern mining and chain rule. In this approach, we propose a method for transforming gene expression data to make suitable for frequent pattern mining, and detect gene expression patterns applying FP-growth algorithm. And then, we construct gene regulatory network from frequent gene patterns using chain rule. Finally, we validated our proposed method by showing that our experimental results are consistent with published results.
As BigData is issued, many applications that operate based on the results of data analysis have been developed, typically applications are products recommend service of e-commerce application service system, search service on the search engine service and friend list recommend system of social network service. In this paper, we suggests a decision frequent pattern tree that is combined the origin frequent pattern tree that is mining similar pattern to appear in the data set of the existing data mining techniques and decision tree based on the theory of computer science. The decision frequent pattern tree algorithm improves about problem of frequent pattern tree that have to make some a lot's pattern so it is to hard to analyze about data. We also proposes to model for a Mapredue framework that is a programming model to help to operate in distributed environment.
An efficient frequent pattern algorithm is essential for mining association rules as well as many other mining tasks for convergence with its application spread over a very broad spectrum. Models for mining pattern have been proposed using a FP-tree for storing compressed information about frequent patterns. In this paper, we propose a centroid frequent pattern growth algorithm which we called "CAWFP-Growth" that enhances he FP-Growth algorithm by making the center of weights and frequencies for the itemsets. Because the conventional constraint of maximum weighted support is not necessary to maintain the downward closure property, it is more likely to reduce the search time and the information loss of the frequent patterns. The experimental results show that the proposed algorithm achieves better performance than other algorithms without scarifying the accuracy and increasing the processing time via the centroid of the items. The MapReduce framework model is provided to handle large amounts of data via a pseudo-distributed computing environment. In addition, the modeling of the proposed algorithm is required in the fully distributed mode.
Approximate Frequent pattern mining is to find approximate patterns, not exact frequent patterns with tolerable variations for more efficiency. As the size of database increases, much faster mining techniques are needed to deal with huge databases. Moreover, it is more difficult to discover exact results of mining patterns due to inherent noise or data diversity. In these cases, by mining approximate frequent patterns, more efficient mining can be performed in terms of runtime, memory usage and scalability. In this paper, we study the characteristics of an approximate mining algorithm based on probabilistic technique and run performance evaluation of the efficient approximate frequent pattern mining algorithm. Finally, we analyze the test results for more improvement.
