  • A systematic procedure for designing a direct-radiator-type loudspeaker has been developed, based on the numerical vibro-acoustic analysis and the Taguchi method. The finite-element model of the speaker cone has been used to calculated the vibration response of the cone excited by the voice coil. The vibration displacement of the speaker cone has been converted into the vibration velocity and used as a boundary condition for the acoustic analysis. The acoustic frequency characteristics of the loudspeaker have been calculated by the boundary element method. The numerical results have been verified by the experiments carried out in an anechoic chamber. Some design parameters have been selected by using the Taguchi method, and the variations of the acoustic characteristics due to the changes of the parameter values have been examined using the numerical model.

  • We described a method resonant mode identification in dielectric-disc loaded cylindrical cavity resonators. The characteristic equation is solved by using the ContourPlot graph of Mathematica. Contour graph method uses graphical method. It is comparable with numerical method. The numerical method is very difficult a mode identification. The analysis based on the approximated electromagnetic representation. This kinds of studies only concentrated on the calculation of resonant frequencies, and a mode identification of resonant frequencies have not been covered. But, the contour graph method to analyze the characteristic equations is simple and all parts of resonant frequency graph can be easily drawn, it is possible to calculate precise resonant frequencies and to identify the mode of resonant frequencies.

  • In this study, we developed RBFN(Radial Basis Function Networks) based load modeling method with harmonic components. The developed method considers harmonic information as well as fundamental frequency and voltage considered as essential factors in conventional method. Thus, the proposed method makes it possible to effectively estimate load characteristics in power lines with harmonics. RBFN has some advantage such as simple structure and rapid computation ability compared with multi-layer perceptorn which is extensively applied for load modeling. To verify the effectiveness, the proposed method has been intensively tested with various dataset acquired under the different frequency and voltage and compared it with conventional methods such as polynomial method, MLPN and RBFN with no harmonic components.

  • The evaluation of dynamic characteristics of bridges under operational traffic loads is a crucial aspect of bridge structural health monitoring. In the vehicle-bridge interaction (VBI) system, the vibration responses of bridge exhibit time-varying characteristics. To address this issue, an accurate time-frequency analysis method that combines the autoregressive power spectrum based empirical wavelet transform (AR-EWT) and local maximum synchrosqueezing transform (LMSST) is proposed to identify the time-varying instantaneous frequencies (IFs) of the bridge in the VBI system. The AR-EWT method decomposes the vibration response of the bridge into mono-component signals. Then, LMSST is employed to identify the IFs of each mono-component signal. The AR-EWT combined with the LMSST method (AR-EWT+LMSST) can resolve the problem that LMSST cannot effectively identify the multi-component signals with weak amplitude components. The proposed AR-EWT+LMSST method is compared with some advanced time-frequency analysis techniques such as synchrosqueezing transform (SST), synchroextracting transform (SET), and LMSST. The results demonstrate that the proposed AR-EWT+LMSST method can improve the accuracy of identified IFs. The effectiveness and applicability of the proposed method are validated through a multi-component signal, a VBI numerical model with a four-degree-of-freedom half-car, and a VBI model experiment. The effect of vehicle characteristics, vehicle speed, and road surface roughness on the identified IFs of bridge are investigated.

  • In this study, the feasibility of vibration-based damage detection methods for the wind turbine tower (WTT) structure is evaluated. First, a frequency-based damage detection (FBDD) is outlined. A damage-localization algorithm is visited to locate damage from changes in natural frequencies. Second, a mode-shape-based damage detection (MBDD) method is outlined. A damage index algorithm is utilized to localize damage from estimating changes in modal strain energies. Third, a finite element (FE) model based on a real WTT is established by using commercial software, Midas FEA. Several damage scenarios are numerically simulated in the FE model of the WTT. Finally, both FBDD and MBDD methods are employed to identify the damage scenarios simulated in the WTT. Damage regions are chosen close to the bolt connection of WTT segments; from there, the stiffness of damage elements are reduced.

  • This paper provides an experimental verification of an FRF-based structural damage identification method (SDIM) developed by the authors for beam structures. The FRF-based SDIM requires the following data : (1) natural frequencies and mode shapes measured at the intact state and (2) the FRF-data measured at the damaged state. Experiments are conducted for the cantilevered beam with one slot and three slots. It is shown that the FRF-based SDIM developed by the authors provide very successful damage identification results which agree well with true damage state.

  • This paper analyze the effect of frequency offset for the IEEE 802.15.4b LR-WPAN(Low-Rate Wireless Personal Area Network) with 915MHz bandwidth noncoherent DSSS O-QPSK based receiver system, and presents a compensation method with addition of differential filter to the system for compensation of frequency offset problem. DSSS PSSS-ASK and DSSS O-QPSK modulation techniques are accepted within the regularization of IEEE 802.15.4b. These new method can obtain 250kbps transmission rate. The DSSS O-QPSK modulation method that is used in this paper has no BER variation below 40ppm(frequency offset 36.6kHz), but if the offset frequency become high above 40ppm, then the system cannot have stable receiving condition due to worse BER. To solve this problem, we present a more stabilized receiver system at maximum frequency offset ${\pm}80ppm$ using MDDF unti a correlator of DSSS O-QPSK modulator. Moreover computer simulation results will be presented to evaluate the performance of the proposed algorithm unde various AWGN and frequency offset environment.

  • In this paper, a novel model is developed for frequency behavior of single walled carbon nanotubes. The governing equation of motion is constructed method based on the Sander theory using Rayleigh-Ritz's method The frequencies enhances on increasing the power law index using simply supported, clamped and clamped free end conditions. The frequency curve for C-F is less than other conditions. It is due to the physical constraints which are applied on the edge of the CNT. It is observed that the C-F boundary condition have less frequencies from the other two conditions. The frequency phenomena for zigzag are insignificant throughout the aspect ratio. Moreover when index of power law is increased then frequencies increases for all boundary conditions. The natural frequency mechanism for the armchair (10, 10) for various values of power law index with different boundary conditions is investigated. Here frequencies decrease on increases the aspect ratio for all boundary conditions. The frequency curves of SS-SS edge condition is composed between the C-C and C-F conditions. The curves of frequency are less significant from small aspect ratio (L/d = 4.86 ~ 8.47) and decreases fast for greater ratios. It is found that the frequencies via aspect ratios, armchair (10, 10) have higher values from zigzag (10, 0). It is due to the material structure which is made by the carbon nanotubes. The power law index have momentous effect on the vibration of single walled carbon nanotubes. The present frequency result is also compared numerically experimentally with Raman Spectroscopy.

  • Pneumatic exciters can be good replacements of electrodynamic, piezoelectric and hydraulic exciters owing to simple structure and large exciting force. One problem to be solved is a slow response caused by compressibility of air. Desirable frequency response characteristics of exciter are constant magnitude and zero degree phase, because users want no time delay between input signal and output force. For this reason, frequency range of pneumatic exciters is limited about 0~1 Hz. Therefore, expansion of frequency range is an important issue when designing the pneumatic exciter. In this paper, the pneumatic exciter which has same structure with active pneumatic isolator is dealt with. The dynamic characteristics are presented, and its limitation of expanding frequency range is shown based on analytical studies. Then the pneumatic exciter with dual-chamber is suggested to overcome this problem. Based on simulation study, a design method is presented.

  • A Kalman filter algorithm is used for the generation of an ensemble timescale with three hydrogen masers maintained in KRISS. Allan deviation curves of three pairs of clocks were obtained by a three-cornered hat method and were used as reference curves for determination of parameters of the Kalman filter-based timescale. The ensemble timescale equation of a 3-clock system was established, and the clocks' phases estimated by the Kalman filter were used as the prediction time of each clock in the equation. The weight of each clock was determined inversely proportional to the Allan variance calculated with the clocks' phases. The Allan deviation of the weighted mean was 1.2×10-16 at the averaging time of 57,600 s. However when we made fine adjustments of the clocks' weight, the minimum Allan deviation of 2×10-17 was obtained. To find out the reason of the great improvement in the frequency stability, additional researches are in progress theoretically and experimentally.
