  • In order to control free formaldehyde release from fabric finished with urea-formaldehyde precondensate, the resin finished fabric was padded in urea or acylamide solution, dried and cured at $140^{\circ}C$. The effect of aftertreatment with urea or acrylamide on free formaldehyde release and on characteristics of resin finished fabric were examined. It was shown that aftertreatment with urea was effective to control free formaldehyde release, the free formaldelyde content in aftertreated fabric could be reduced from 900 ppm to 200 ppm and formaldehyde release under accelerated storage condition was also reduced from 8000 ppm to 1000 ppm. Polyacrylamide formed in the fiber during aftertreatment appeared to be a formaldehyde capture. Especially by washing the aftertreated fabric, the ability to control formaldehyde release under accelerated condition was not dimimished in contrast with aftertreated with unea. It suggests that polyacrylamide can be used as a formaldehyde capture which withstand diminution from washing.

  • This work was tamed out to apply a laser welding technique in joining between a Zn coated low carbon steel plate(SECC) and a free cutting carbon steel shaft(SUM24L) with or without W coating. Experiments were carried out and analysed by applying the FD(factorial design)method to obtain the optimum Laser welding condition. Optical microscopy, SEM, TEM and XRD analyses were performed in order to observe the microstructures in the fusion zone and the HAZ. Mechanical properties of the welded specimens were examined by microhardness test, tensile test and twist test. There was no flawed Zn in the fusion zone by EDS analysis. This means that during the welding process, Zn gas could be eliminated by appropriate shielding gas flow rate and butt welding gap. Ni coating itself did not influence on the tensile strength and hardness. However, twist bending strength and the weld depth of the Ni-coated free cutting carbon steel were lower as compared with those of the uncoated free cutting carbon steel. It was attributed to a lower absorbance of laser beam to the shin Ni surface. According to the results of the factorial design tests, the twist bending strength of welded specimens was primarily affected by pulse width, laser power, frequency and speed.

  • After atmospheric pressure plasma treatment of polypropylene(PP) film surface, we measured the contact angle of the surface by using polar solvent (water) and non-polar solvent (diiodomethane). We also calculated the surface free energy of PP film by using the measured values of contact angles. And then we analyzed contact angle and surface free energy with changing the condition of atmospheric pressure plasma treatment. Upon each condition of atmospheric plasma treatment, contact angle and surface free energy showed an optimum value or leveled off.

  • Previously we developed a method of coronal force-free field construction using vector potentials. In this method, the boundary normal component of the vector potential should be adjusted at every iteration step to implement the boundary normal current density, which is provided by observations. The method was a variational method in the sense that the excessive kinetic energy is removed from the system at every iteration step. The boundary condition imposing the normal current density, however, is not compatible with the variational procedure seeking for the minimum energy state, which is employed by most force-free field solvers currently being used. To resolve this problem, we have developed a totally new method of force-free field construction. Our new method uses a unique magnetic field description using two scalar functions. Our procedure is non-variational and can impose the boundary normal current density exactly. We have tested the new force-free solver for standard Low & Lou fields and Titov-Demoulin flux ropes. Our code excels others in both examples, especially in Titov-Demoulin flux ropes, for which most codes available now yield poor results. Application to a real active region will also be presented.

  • This paper describes development of low cost precision machine that has a vacuum chuck. This study mainly aims to find out a cutting condition for maintaining optimum surface condition and to examine cutting characteristics of the precision machine that is equipped by diamond bites. The cutting materials is oxygen free copper. Several experiments were carried out to find out the main factors that affect the surface roughness such as principal axis RPM(rotation per minute), feeding speed, and cutting depth. As a result, we obtain The optimum cutting condition of the developed precision machine.

  • Most of pile foundations are fixed head condition, but lateral loading test for pile is performed under free head condition generally In this study, a lateral loading test for a large diameter drilled shaft was performed under the fixed pile head and the free pile head condition, where lateral displacement along the pile depth was measure. Test results and theoretical values were compared and analyzed.

  • In this study, the Rayleigh inextensional theory and extensional theory for thin shells was employed to predict the natural frequencies of the hemi-spherical shell with free and simply. supported boundary condition. The frequencies and mode shapes from theoretical calculation were compared with those of commercial finite element code, ANSYS. In order to validate the theory, modal test was also performed by impact test and FFT analysis. Modal test and FEM analysis of the free, simply supported and clamped boundary condition was also carried out.

  • The NDIF method(non-dimensional dynamic influence function method) for free vibration analysis of arbitrarily shaped plates with the simply supported edge is newly developed in the paper. In order to extract the system matrix that gives the natural frequencies and natural modes of the plate of interest, the difficulty of measuring higher differential terms involved in the simply supported boundary condition is successfully overcome. Finally, the excellence of the characteristics of convergence and accuracy of the proposed method is shown through two verification examples, which indicate that natural frequencies and natural modes obtained by the proposed method are very accurate and swiftly converged even though a small number of nodes are used compared with FEM.

  • In this study, a new method for treating the wall boundary in smoothed particle hydrodynamics (SPH) is proposed to simulate free surface flows effectively. Unlike conventional methods of wall boundary treatment through boundary particles, in the proposed method, the wall boundary condition is directly imposed by adding boundary truncation terms to the mass and momentum conservation equations. Thus, boundary particles are not used in boundary modeling. Doing so, the wall boundary condition is accurately imposed, boundary modeling is simplified, and computation is made efficient without losing stability in SPH. Performance of the proposed method is demonstrated through several numerical examples: dam break, dam break with a wedge, sloshing, inclined bed, cross-lever rotation, pulsating tank and sloshing with a flexible baffle. These results are compared with available experimental results, analytical solutions, and results obtained using the boundary particle method.

  • 315Fr compressor motor exceeds vibration specifications. To find the reason, first a modal impact test with free-free condition is done. Second a modal test with fixed condition is done. Thereafter the test results are compared with FEM simulation results. Using free-free condition modal impact test, FEM simulation conditions (boundary, mesh..) are modified. The motor has rolling motion around 120Hz. FEM simulation also shows same result. FEM simulation will be used to develop other series compressor motors. Using this, manufacturing test model and doing test will be useless.
