  • The production technologies of free-form concrete panels are emerging to satisfy the need of modern complex shaped in architectural design. This study aims for introducing and improvising the innovative technique called Rod type mold that overcomes the difficulties in some extent by enabling the mold to be used many times, making the shape of the mold adjustable in a flexible way and describing its production process to provide the alternative solution for the construction of free-form mold with considering the features including reusability and optimization cost across its production process. In this study, the freeform concrete panel shape was designed and experiment was done using computerized numeric control machine and rod type mold. The problems appeared on achieving desired shape while operating on rod type mold. The process of identifying all the root causes and contributing causes that may have generated an undesirable condition were done. Consequently, the conical or semicircular shaped was proposed for the end of Numerical control rod and replaced it with the existing flat shaped end to avoid the detachable problem and to improve rod type mold performance.

  • This paper presents unprecedented damped oscillation behaviours of a precast steel-concrete composite slab panel for track support. The steel-concrete composite slab track is an innovative slab track, a form of ballastless track which is becoming increasingly attractive to asset owners as they seek to reduce lifecycle costs and deal with increasing rail traffic speeds. The slender nature of the slab panel due to its reduced depth of construction makes it susceptible to vibration problems. The aim of the study is driven by the need to address the limited research available to date on the dynamic behaviour of steel-concrete composite slab panels for track support. Free vibration analysis of the track slab has been carried out using ABAQUS. Both undamped and damped eigenfrequencies and eigenmodes have been extracted using the Lancsoz method. The fundamental natural frequencies of the slab panel have been identified together with corresponding mode shapes. To investigate the sensitivity of the natural frequencies and mode shapes, parametric studies have been established, considering concrete strength and mass and steel's modulus of elasticity. This study is the world first to observe crossover phenomena that result in the inversion of the natural orders without interaction. It also reveals that replacement of the steel with aluminium or carbon fibre sheeting can only marginally reduce the natural frequencies of the slab panel.

  • Recently, with the digitalization of the construction industry, free-form building construction technology is developing. However, the technology for manufacturing free-form concrete panels is still insufficient. In this study, the surface error of the FCP according to the thickness of the lower silicon plate, which is a component of the existing lower multi-point press, was analyzed in order to manufacture a precise FCP. As a result of the analysis, it was found that the thinner the thickness, the larger the error value. These results can be used as a basis for existing research and are expected to be used for research on high-quality FCP manufacturing technology.

  • Appearance finish is important for amorphous buildings to maximize amorphousness, and GFRC, glass, and metal are mostly used as exterior materials for amorphous buildings currently applied. However, the existing exterior materials showed limitations in amorphous expression, texture, and color expression. In this study, a 3D stereoscopic panel mold was manufactured using the FDM method, one of the 3D printing technologies, and 3D stereoscopic panel production was reviewed using Ultra High Performance Concrete (UHPC), which has excellent physical and mechanical performance and expression. In order to overcome the limitations of unstructured expression, a UHPC 3D stereoscopic panel using the FDM method, one of the 3D printing technologies, was manufactured. Unlike steel molds, FRP molds, and EPS molds, the FDM method can be applied to various materials, and complex shapes are implemented. If it is used using recyclable materials as well as PLA filaments used in the FDM method, it will overcome the limitations of amorphous expression and activate the production of 3D stereoscopic panels that have secured eco-friendliness.
