Modifications in dietary fatty acid intake might lead to a modification in membrane phospholipid fatty acid composition. The purpose of this study was to investigate relationship between different type of oil consumption and leukocyte membrane phospholipid composition. This study was carried out in subjects utilizing butter (n = 15), margarine (n = 15), fluid oil (n = 15) and mixed types of oils (n = 15) in total 60 subjects. Leukocytes were separated from total blood by dextran sedimentation method. Membrane lipids and proteins were isolated following the cell disruption. Fatty acids of membrane phospholipids were isolated by hydrolysation with phospholipase B under ultrasonic dismembranator. Free fatty acids were identified with gas chromatography at chloroform phase. The results obtained were compared with data obtained by chromatograms of the standards. Results more prominent values of arachidic, dihomo-$\gamma$-linolenic and palmitoleic acids were found in butter-or mixed oil-user groups; eicosadienoic, eicosamonoenoic, dihomo-$\gamma$-linolenic and behenic acids in fluid oil; heptanoic, valeric, eicosadienoic and linolenic acids in margarine groups. The fatty acid composition of mixed oil was similar to butter, while other two oils were so different. From this study, it was concluded that the type of oil consumption might have an influence on phospholipid components of plasma membranes.
To characterize aroma properties of burnt beef reaction flavor manufactured by extrusion, volatile flavor compounds and aroma-active compounds were analyzed by simultaneous steam distillation and solvent extraction (SDE)-gas chromatography-mass spectrometry-olfactometry (GC-MS-O). Hydrolyzed vegetable protein (HVP) was successfully extruded with precursors (glucose, cystine, furaneol, thiamin, methionine, garlic powder, and lecithin) at $160^{\circ}C$, screw speed of 45 rpm, and feed rate of 38 kg/hr. Sixty eight volatile flavor compounds were found in burnt beef reaction flavor. The number of volatile flavor compounds decreased significantly when HVP was extruded either with furaneol-free precursors or without precursors. Twenty seven aroma-active compounds were detected in burnt beef reaction flavor. Of these, methional and 2-methyl-3-furanthiol were the most intense aroma-active compounds. It was suggested that furaneol played an important role in the formation of burnt beef reaction flavor.
This experiment was conducted to measure the physiological qualities and the chemical compositions of garlic bulb (Allium sativum L) stored in air and controlled atmosphere at 0$\^{C}$ for 4months. There were no significant differences in physiological qualities such as soluble solid, dry weight and firmness by O$_2$ and CO$_2$ concentrations during 4 months of storage. The surface color of garlic cloves changed toward more dark direction in Hunter color surface with storage. CA storage inhibited the sprout growth by 50% and had no significant difference in root growth. Garlic stored in CA showed lower level of pungency, especially CA of low oxygen concentration (1%) showed the lowest level of pyruvate. Garlic stored in high CO$_2$ concentration(20%) showed the lowest level of fructan concentrations and the highest free sugar concentrations.
Synergistic effect and characteristics of coliquefaction with Alaskan subbituminous coal and polypropylene (PP) were investigated in a tubing-bomb reactor. Coliquefaction results showed considerable synergistic effect on conversions for various coal/PP compositions and tetralin addition. Therefore, coliquefactions conversions at 430$^{\circ}$C and 450$^{\circ}$C with (coal 2 g+PP 2g) and 4 ml tetralin appeared 20.0 and 11.6 per cent higher respectively compared to the conversion of (coal+tetralin) and (PP+tetralin) liquefactions. According to gas chromatographic analyses, hydrogen was not needed during PP liquefactions. On the other hand, 0.70~0.83 part of tetralin per part of coal was converted into naphthalene by donoring hydrogen to free radicals during liquefaction. Also, extraction results by decalin proved that synergistic effect of coliquefaction were mainly due to PP decomposition catalysed be coal.
A diffusion process is often the main mechanism of soil gas/vapor movement in the vadose zone. The diffusion coefficients in the porous soil media are different from those in the free air phase by the reduction of available area for diffusion, tortuous diffusion path and variable cross section area along the diffusion path. To take account those effects of the diffusion process in the porous media, usually the terms of effective diffusion coefficient and tortuosity are have been used. However, as there are many differents definitions for the tortuosity, when the term of tortuosity is used, it is necessary to examine it throughly. Moreover, there are many different equations for the effective diffusion coefficient according to the investigators and the differences in the values of effective diffusion coefficients between the equations are not insignificant, the selection of the equation should be done with caution. In this paper, the different definitions of effective diffusion coefficient are examined and discussed. As well as definitions, the lots of availabe models for the diffusion coefficient in terms of porosities are compared. Also, the constrictiviy which explains the effect of cross sectional area change over the diffusion path was discussed.

The synthesized ZnO powder was prepared by spray pyrolysis method using ultrasonic vibrator. The starting solutons were the aqueous solution of $Zn(NO_3)_2\cdot6H_2O$. The concentration was prepared 1M, O.5M, O.25M, and O.lM. The Nz carrier gas was 2.3cm$\cdot{sec}^{-1}$. The prepared powder from the $Zn(NO_3)_2{\cdot}6H_2O$ aqueous solution was Zine oxide with hexagonal structure. The shape of prepared powder was fine size, narrow size distribution, agglomerate-free, nearly sphere particle. Also, the particle size was about $ 0.28-0.61\mum$.
Thin films of diamond-like carbon(DLC) have been deposited using a magnetron plasma-enhanced chemical vapor deposition(PECVD) method with an rf(13.56 MHz) plasma of $C_{3}H_{8}$. From the Langmuir probe I-V characteristics, it can be observed that increasing the magnetic field yields an increase of the temperature($T_e$) and density($N_e$) of electron. At a magnetic field of 82 Gauss, the estimated values of $T_e$ and $N_e$ are approximately $1.5\;{\times}\;10^5$ K(13.5 eV) and $1.3\;{\times}\;10^{11}\;cm^{-3}$, respectively. Such a highly dense plasma can be attributed to the enhanced ionization caused by the cyclotron motion of electrons in the presence of a magnetic field. On the other hand, the negative dc self-bias voltage($-V_{sb}$) decreases with an increasing magnetic field, which is irrespective of gas pressure in the range of $1{\sim}7$ mTorr. This result is well explained by a theoretical model considering the variation of $T_e$. Deposition rates of DLC films increases with a magnetic field. This may be due to the increased mean free path of electrons in the magnetron plasma. Structures of DLC films are examined by using various techniques such as FTIR and Raman spectroscopy. Most of hydrocarbon bonds in DLC films prepared consist of $sp^3$ tetrahedral bonds. Increasing the rf power leads to an enhancement of cross-linking of carbon atoms in DLC films. At approximately 140 W, the maximum film density obtained is about 2.4 $g/cm^3$.

One of the biggest environmental issues that our world has been facing is climate change. In order to cope with such environmental issues, the world is putting a great deal of effort into energy conservation. The building sector, in particular, consumes 36% of the energy consumed worldwide and emits considerable amount of greenhouse gases. Therefore, introduction of renewable energies in the building sector is highly recommended. Renewable energy sources that can be utilized in the building sector include sunlight, solar heat, geothermal heat, fuel cells and wind power. The wind power generation system which converts wind energy into electrical energy has advantages in that wind is an unlimited and pollution-free resource. It is suitable to be connected to existing buildings because many years of operational experience and the enhanced stability of the system have made it possible to downsize the electrical generator. In case of existing buildings, it is necessary to consider the live loads of the buildings to connect the wind power generation system. This paper, through the connection of the wind power generation with existing buildings, promotes reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and energy independence by reducing energy consumption in the building sector. In order to connect the wind power generation system with an exciting building, the live load of the building and the area of the rooftop should be considered. The installable model is selected by comparing the live load of the building and the load of the wind power generation system. The maximum number of the wind turbines that can be installed is obtained by considering the separation distance between the wind turbines within the area of the rooftop. Installations are divided into single installations and multiple installations of two different types of wind turbines. After determining the maximum installable number, the optimal model that can achieve the maximum annual power generation will be selected by comparing the respective total annual amount of the power generation of different models.
Al-2%Si-2%Mg alloy containing SiC particle in 20, $70{\mu}m$ were prepared by mean of squeeze casting with various pressure 50, 100, 150 and 220MPa respectively. The specimens were made by casting into $50{\Phi}{\times}100{\ell}$ mold under various squeeze conditions(pressures, pressurizing temperature, particle sizes). Mechanical properties(hardness, tensile strength, elongation and wear characteristics) were evaluated at room temperature with those various fabrication factors. It became feasible to make favorable Al-SiCp composite free from casting defects by the injection of Ar gas during melting and 100MPa pressure squeeze casting. However, pressure of 50MPa was not sufficient to avoid completely porosity formation as a result of precessing and shrinkage during solidification. As the particle size is smaller and the squeeze pressure is higher, the hardness and tensile strength at room temperature are higher. Cell size became smaller gradually with increase of squeeze pressure. With increase of squeeze pressure(MPa), wear behaviors of those composites were changed from adhesive into abrasive wear, and the tendency of above behavior became outstanding with increasing sliding speed. The chemical reaction(4Al+3SiC${\rightarrow}$$Al_4C_3+3Si$) is more accelerated at interface between SiCp and matrix with increase of squeeze pressure. Therefore $Al_4C_3$ intercompound and Si peak intensity is increased at interface.

There are various manufacturing processes for pure $SiO_2$ that is used as abrasives, chemicals, filters, and glasses, and in metallurgy and optical industries. In the optical fiber industry, to produce $SiO_2$ preform, $SiCl_4$ is utilized as a raw material. However, the combustion reaction of $SiCl_4$ has caused critical environmental issues, such as ozone deficiency by chlorine compounds, the greenhouse effect by carbon dioxide and corrosive gas such as hydrochloric acid. Thus, finding an alternative source that does not have those environmental issues is important for the future. Octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (OMCTS or D4) as a chlorine free source is recently promising candidate for the $SiO_2$ preform formation. In this study, we first conducted a vaporizer design to vaporize the OMCTS. The vaporizer for the OMCTS vaporization was produced on the basis of the results of the vaporizer design. The size of the primary particle of the $SiO_2$ formed by OMCTS was less than 100 nm. X-ray diffraction patterns of the $SiO_2$ indicated an amorphous phase. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy analysis revealed the Si-O-Si bond without the -OH group.
