  • As object-oriented development technology that increases extensibility and reusability has been widely spread, it can shorten development period and enhance quality by reusing verified object-oriented artifacts. Thus we can construct high quality component-based system at short time transforming component-based model using verified object-oriented artifacts. In this paper, we propose techniques to transform available object-oriented design model into component-based model using formal specification techniques in order to increase accuracy of transformation. First, formal specification language for component is defined for formal specification of component-based design. And, techniques for formal specification of object-oriented design using Object-Z, a formal specification language, is proposed in structural, functional, and dynamic aspects. Next, we present techniques for transforming formal specification of object-oriented design into formal specification of component-based design. Through a case study we apply the proposed transformation techniques and show the transformation process of object-oriented formal specification into component-based formal specification.

  • Presented in the paper is a structured approach to modeling automated manufacturing system (AMS) in the form of an event graph. The proposed two-phase procedure for formal modeling is 1) reference modeling by schematic supervisory control modeling and 2) event graph transformation from supervisory control model. Also described is a formal model for a small-sized FMS in the form of an event graph.

  • In this paper we consider an approach to a formal linearization for time-variant nonlinear systems. A time-variant nonlinear sysetm is assumed to be described by a time-variant nonlinear differential equation. For this system, we introduce a coordinate transformation function which is composed of the Chebyshev polynomials. Using Chebyshev expansion to the state variable and Laguerre expansion to the time variable, the time-variant nonlinear sysetm is transformed into the time-variant linear one with respect to the above transformation function. As an application, we synthesize a time-variant nonlinear observer. Numerical experiments are included to demonstrate the validity of...

  • Formal methods for protocol description of a system is based on the implementation id S/W. However, the importance of H/W implementation for a parts of protocol design is increasing. The combination between H/W and IP technology is needed since the implementation environment is changing from S/W to H/W for implementation of specific application protocol. H/W implementation method starting with formal description procedure is essential to guarantree correctness and reliability of the implemented H/W by characteristic of formal description language. Inthis paper, for an automated H/W implementations, ESTELLE, a formal description method, is adopted. A transformation method from specification of ESTELLE to VHDL is suggested. This is an conceptual method that comparing and analyzing similarities between basic units of protocol description such as computation and communication unit and inter processors in H/W. Then we describe transformation model, and suggest example of transformation from ESTELLE to VHDL with Inres protocol.

  • Process of thinking on the form in product design includes the process in which unclear requirements are transformed into defined concepts, and the process in which the design as a form conforming to the concepts in conc1uded.(The former is called fconceptualizationJ which deals with abstract matters, and the latter "manipulation of the formJ which deals with more embodied matters) In conceptualization process the operation which transform the diverse requirements in the initial phase of de\ulcornersign to related linguistic expressions or to an image that directly suggests the form is executed. In the process of manipulation of the form the transformation to design as the description of relationships between the formal elements of the design solution resulted from the transformed requirements. It is the job of selecting the most suitable formal elements, balancing the relationships between them, out 01 the possibilities that reside in the individual attributes of formal elements, and finally leading to the design as the end solution. This writing focuses down to the wilfulness and ambiguity of design, and the diversity of design solution after the requirements, formal elements, and the process of relating the formal attributes to each other is built up the two phases.ases.

  • In an automated industry PLC plays a central role to control the automation system. Therefore, fault free operation of PLC controlled automation system is essential in order to maximize a firm's productivity. A prior test of control system is a practical way to check fault operations, but it is a time consuming job and can not check all possible fault operation. A formal verification of PLC program could be a best way to check all possible fault situation. Tracing the history of the study on formal verification, we found three problems, the first is that a formal representation of PLC control system is incomplete, the second is a state explosion problem and the third is that the verification result is difficult to use for the correction of control program. In this paper, we propose a transformation method to reproduce the control system correctly in formal model and efficient procedure to verify and correct the control program using verification result. To demonstrate the proposed method, we provided a suitable case study of an automation system.

  • The purpose of this study is to analyze the transformed fashion design based on the principles of visual design. Wucius Wong classified the kinds of transformation techniques as internal variation, external variation, extension, superimposition, transfiguration, dislocation, and distortion, which create and modify the shape. And the kinds of shape grammar for transformation are rule deletion, rule addition, and rule transformation, which are applied to interpretate for the change of wearing, the specialization & development of clothes, and the avant-garde styles in subculture groups. The formative meanings of the transformed fashion design are multi-transformation with complexity, formal beauty pretending confusion, and the basis for new trend.

  • If we think about the form of housing architecture, we can find a general or typical type has been through the architectural history. because the formal transformation in housing architecture is very difficult. Recently, there are many housing works in powerful ocean state, netherlands that was different from the typical type in the form of housing architecture. This study focusing on the formal characteristics in such works. Such distinctive works in netherlands is the result from an attempt to fulfill the diverse needs of our contemporary society and in an effort to refuse the typical type of the modern architecture. The main purpose of this study is to reveal the meaning of typological transformation in the contemporary' housing architecture.

  • Since late 1960s, we have had the discourse about the way of succession of korean traditional architectural heritage. Through 60s and 70s, the formal mimesis and transformation was pretty much dominated in domestic design currents. After 80s, we could see a kind of different ways of design to deal with traditions in architectural practices. These methodology can be summarized as spatiality, abstraction and diversity. These discourses acted as bases for aesthetic and formal stream which might be needed to present the formal possibilities for various commercial needs. Especially, the interior design field utilized those ideas in order to show korean identity for the commercial needs such as korean restaurant, korean bar, or korean costume shop. Interior designers positively adapted the ideas from architectural discourse and created their own vocabulary after 90s. Before 90s, interior designers did very representational mimesis to express korean identity designing commercial facilities. However from mid 90s they could establish new tendencies in expressing korean traditional moods. These tendencies are a focus on spatial relationship, abstraction and materiality, utilization of traditional objects and lighting method.

  • "Keunmeori", the grand headdress with various decorations attached to thickly braided and raised hair has been used as a bride's formal attire since the Joseon Dynasty, and in the modern period, new styles known as goegye and hyuche appeared as formal attire for civil weddings. Goegye was formed from a round wooden pillar wrapped with hair and decorated richly with ornaments; getting married with goegye meant that the wife was officially married. Hyuche was made by braiding the hair into two long plaits and decorating it with colorful fluttering hairpins and gold leaf hair ribbons. Hyuche was originally formal attire for a princess at her wedding, and it is thought to have been less frequently used in the private sector due to its higher cost than goegye. The style of goegye appears to have been influenced by the susik, the highest formal attire for a queen, and in particular, the decorations on the circular top part of the susik were presumed to have been similarly reproduced in folk weddings. Goegye changed in various aspects according to the social environment and atmosphere of the times, and was also used as formal attire for a prince's wife.
