The NCF Algorithm for the Control of an Electro-mechanical Active Suspension System (전기-기계식 능동 현가장치 제어를 위한 NCF 알고리즘)

  • The NCF control algorithm for an active suspension system was proposed and investigated. The NCF algorithm using spring dynamic variation force and suspension relative velocity was applied to the 1/4 vehicle model and numerical analysis was performed. Vehicle's performances such as vehicle displacement, vehicle acceleration, suspension deflection, tire deflection and absorbed power were calculated and compared with those of the passive, semi-active and LQR active suspension system that use full state feedback. Numerical results show that the proposed NCF active suspension system has superior performance compared with the passive and semi-active suspension system and has very similar performance compared with the LQR active suspension system. So the proposed NCF algorithm is considered as a highly practical algorithm because it requires only one displacement sensor in a 1/4 vehicle model.

  • An ultrasonic motor(USM) has good characteristics such as compact size, silent motion, high speed responce, low speed and high torque. The USM is driven by 2-phase AC electricity. The control parameters of USM are voltage, phase, and frequency of input powers, etc. In this paper, the fine elasticity and viscosity control with no force feedback can be implemented by a phase difference parameter. Experiment results show the change of torque with regard to elasticity and viscosity. Therefore the USM can be used as a micro-actuator in the automation field of the installation.

  • Truss structures are widely used in many space structures, such as large antenna systems, space stations, precision segmented telescopes because they are light in weight and amenable in assembly or deployment. But, due to the low damping capacity, they remain excited for a long time once disturbed. These structural vibrations can reduce life of the structures and cause unstable dynamic characteristics. In this research, vibration suppression experiment has carried out with a three-dimensional 15-member truss structure using two piezoelectric actuators. Piezoelectric actuators which consist of stacks of thin piezoelectric material disks are directly inserted to the truss structure collocated with the strain sensors. Each actuator is controlled digitally in decentralized manner, based on local integral and proportional feedback. The optimal positions of the actuators are determined by the modal damping ratio and the control force. Numerical simulation has carried out to determine optimal position of each actuator.

  • This paper deals with the design of a yaw rate controller based on gain-scheduled H$\infty$ optimal control, which is intended to maintain the lateral stability of a vehicle. Uncertain factors such as vehicle mass and cornering stiffness in the vehicle yaw rate dynamics naturally call for the robustness of the feedback controller and thus H$\infty$ optimization technique is applied to synthesize a controller with guaranteed robust stability and performance against the model uncertainty. In the implementation stage, the feed-forward yaw moment by driver's steer input is estimated by the disturbance observer in order to determine the accurate compensatory moment. Finally, HILS results indicate that the proposed yaw rate controller can satisfactorily improve the lateral stability of an automobile.

  • In this paper, we present a control method of mobile power assist systems. Most of mobile power assist systems have a heavy base for preventing easy tumbling, so continual movement of the base during operations causes high energy consumption and gives the high risk of human injury. Furthermore, the slow dynamics of the base limits the frequency bandwidth of the whole system. Thus we propose a cooperation control method of the mobile base and manipulator, which removes the unnecessary movements of the base. In our scheme, the mobile base does not move until the center of gravity(C.G) of the system goes outside a safety region. When C.G. reaches the boundary of the safety region, the base starts moving to recover the manipulator's initial configuration. By varying the parameters of a human impedance controller, the operator is warned by a force feedback that C.G. is on the marginal safety region. Our scheme is implemented by assigning a nonlinear mass-damper-spring impedance to the tip of the manipulator.   • 본 논문은 유리 기판과 실리콘 기판의 양극접합과 CMP공정을 통하여 정전기력으로 구동되는 마이크로 비틀림 액추에이터를 제작하고 이 제작된 액추에이터의 성능을 개선하는 방법과 실험에 관한 것이다. 이 비틀림 액추에이터는 미소 거울로 사용하기 위해 제작하였다. 미소 거울은 영상을 정확히 반사하거나 회절 시키는 것이 목적이지만 MEMS 공정의 특성 문제로 인해 일관적인 성능을 나타내는 것이 비교적 힘들다. 따라서 이를 개선하기 위해선 구조적인 접근 보다 실제 구동될 때의 현상을 보상하는 것이 필요하다. 일정한 입력전압에 비례하는 미소 거울의 변위를 알고 이를 기준으로 하여 시스템을 구동하여야 한다. 여기서 인가되는 전압에 비례하는 변위가 정확한지 측정을 해야 하고 만약 오차가 있다면 이를 개선하여야 한다. 또한 구동 시 발생하는 overshoot 현상과 작은 떨림 현상을 줄이고 빠른 시간 내에 응답하도록 시스템을 보상하여야 한다. 본 논문에선 PID 제어기법을 사용하여 $0.5^{\circ}$의 각도로 구동할 때를 기준으로 이 때의 구동전압 200V를 인가하고 오차를 측정하여 시스템을 보상하였다.

Toward Transparent Virtual Coupling for Haptic Interaction during Contact Tasks (컨택트 작업 시 햅틱 인터렉션의 투명성 향상을 위한 Virtual Coupling 기법의 설계)

  • Since its introduction (e.g., [4, 6]), virtual coupling technique has been de facto way to connect a haptic device with a virtual proxy for haptic rendering and control. However, because of the single dependence on spring-damper feedback action, this virtual coupling suffers from the degraded transparency particularly during contact tasks when large device/proxy-forces are involved. In this paper, we propose a novel virtual coupling technique, which, by utilizing passive decomposition, reduces device-proxy position deviation even during the contact tasks while also scaling down (or up) the apparent inertia of the coordinated device-proxy. By doing so, we can significantly improve transparency between multiple degree of freedom (possibly nonlinear) haptic device and virtual proxy. In other to use passive decomposition, disturbance observer of [3] is adopted to estimate human force with some dead-zone modification to avoid "winding-up" force estimation in the presence of device torque saturation. Some preliminary experimental results are also given to illustrate efficacy of the proposed technique.

  • In this paper, two degree of freedom parallelogram link mechanism is used as DD(Direct-drive) robot mechanism. In parallelogram link mechanism, two motors being established in each base frame, the mass of motor itself is not loaded to anther motor; the number of links are increased, the mass of arm being lighter; with the estabilishment of link parameter, nonlinearity such as the centrifugal force disappears; at the same time anti-interference between motors can be realized. And to realize highy-accurate drive of parallelogram link DD robot manipulator, to improve the learning speed through the design of leaning control system using neural network, to raise adapting power to the varied work objects; the learning control algorithm is composed of neural network and feedback controller in this paper.

Various Haptic Effects Based on Simultaneous Actuation of Motors and Brakes (모터와 브레이크의 동시구현에 기초한 다양한 햅틱효과의 제시)

  • In the virtual environment, force feedback to the human operator makes virtual experiences more realistic. To ensure the safe operation and enhance the haptic feeling, stability should be guaranteed. Both motors and brakes are commonly used for haptic devices. Motors can generate a torque in any direction, but they can make the system active during operation, thus leading to instability. Brakes can generate a torque only against their rotation, but they dissipate energy during operation, which makes the system intrinsically stable. Consequently, motors and brakes are complementing each other. In this research, a two degree-of-freedom (DOF) haptic device equipped with motors and brakes has been developed to provide better haptic effects. Each DOF is actuated by a pair of motor and brake. Modeling of the environment and the control method are needed to utilize both actuators. Among various haptic effects, contact with the virtual wall, representation of friction and representation of plastic deformation have been investigated extensively in this paper. It is shown that the hybrid haptic device is more suited to some applications than the motor-based haptic device.

Adaptive Observer Based Longitudinal Control of Vehicles

  • In this paper, an observer-based adaptive controller is proposed to control the longitudinal motion of vehicles. The standard gradient method will be used to estimate the vehicle parameters such as mass, time constant, etc. The nonlinear model between the driving force and the vehicle acceleration will be chosen to design the state observer for the vehicle velocity and acceleration. It will be shown that the proposed observer is exponentially stable, and that the adaptive controller proposed in this paper is stable by the Lyapunov function candidate. It will be proved that the errors of the relative distance, velocity and acceleration converge to zero asymptotically fast, and that the overall system is also asymptotically stable. The simulation results are presented to investigate the effectiveness of the proposed method.
