  • Straight access cavity design allows the operator to locate all canals, helps in proper cleaning and shaping, ultimately facilitates the obturation of the canal system. However, change in the fracture strength according to the access cavity designs was not clearly demonstrated yet. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of different access cavity designs on the fracture strength in endodontically treated mandibular anterior teeth. Recently extracted mandibular anterior teeth that have no caries, cervical abrasion, and fracture were divided into three groups (Group 1 : conventional lingual access cavity, Group 2 : straight access cavity, Group 3 : extended straight access cavity) according to the cavity designs. After conventional endodontic treatment, cavities were filled with resin core material. Compressive loads parallel to the long axis of the teeth were applied at a crosshead speed of 2mm/min until the fracture occurred. The fracture strength analyzed with ANOV A and the Scheffe test at the 95% confidence level. The results of this study were as follows: 1. The mean fracture strength decrease in following sequence Group 1 (4558.90{\;}\pm{\;}77.40{\;}N$), Group 2 ($494.07{\;}\pm{\;}123.98{\;}N) and Group 3 ($267.33{\;}\pm{\;}27.02{\;}N). 2. There was significant difference between Group 3 and other groups (P = 0.00). Considering advantage of direct access to apical third and results of this study, straight access cavity is recommended for access cavity form of the mandibular anterior teeth.

  • Objective : Cortical dysplasia (CD) is one of the common causes of epilepsy surgery. However, surgical outcome still remains poor, especially with frontal lobe epilepsy (FLE), despite the advancement of neuroimaging techniques and expansion of surgical indications. The aim of this study was to focus on surgical strategies in terms of extent of resection to improve surgical outcome in the cases of FLE with CD. Methods : A total of 11 patients of FLE were selected among 67 patients who were proven pathologically as CD, out of a total of 726 epilepsy surgery series since 1992. This study categorized surgical groups into three according to the extent of resection : 1) focal corticectomy, 2) regional corticectomy, and 3) partial functional lobectomy, based on the preoperative evaluation, in particular, ictal scalp EEG onset and/or intracranial recordings, and the lesions in high-resolution MRI. Surgical outcome was assessed following Engel's classification system. Results : Focal corticectomy was performed in 5 patients and regional corticectomy in another set of 5 patients. Only 1 patient underwent partial functional lobectomy. Types I and II CD were detected with the same frequency (45.45% each) and postoperative outcome was fully satisfactory (91%). Conclusion : The strategy of epilepsy surgery is to focus on the different characteristics of each individual, considering the extent of real resection, which is based on the focal ictal onset consistent with neuroimaging, especially in the practical point of view of neurosurgery.

  • The purpose of this study is to establish more rational and practical planning theory for amusementpark. It analyze and considerate the fluctuation of the people who come and use a Tong-Ch'on amusementpark. The results drawn from this research work are as follows ; There are considerable correlation between use fluctuation and some factors. The factors are season (spring, summer, autumn) as a time, temperature, cloud amount, duration of sunshine, weather (rainy day) as a climate and date (weekday, holiday) as a social system. The important variables are temperature, cloud amount, duration of sunshine and date (week day, holiday) to estimate the user of amusementpark. I can reduce the following two types of regression models. 1.${\log}_eY1=6.9114+0.1135TEM+0.00002_eSUM-0.4068WI+0.4316W3$ ($R^2=0.94$) 2. ${\log}_eY2=7.2069+0.1177TEM-0.0990CLO+0.488W3$ ($R^2=0.95$) Y ; Number of User TEM ; Temperature CLO ; Amount of cloud SUN ; Duration of Sunshine WI ; Weekday W3 ; Holiday Those model is inorder to estimate the user for management of Tong-Ch'on amusementpark and use on the computation of facility size for reconstruction. Besides the amusementpark, city park and outdoor recreation area could estimate of user throuth this method. But, I am not sure about the regression models because I didn't apply the regression models to the other amusementpark, city park or outdoor recreation area. Therefore, I think that this problem needs to study in the future.

  • This study attempted to investigate the impact of relational characteristics just like level of perceived communication, support, conflict and justice between optical franchisor and franchisees on relational performance. Data collected from A Optical Franchisees supported two hypotheses such as communication and relational satisfaction, relational satisfaction and long-term commitment that were proposed. Another result between justice and relational satisfaction in this study shows that the other research and interpretation for this phenomenon was attempted. In accordance with the results, the following conclusion was made: it is very important to communicate with franchisor, and the core mean for that would be the enhancement of the long-term commitment of franchisees through the perceived relational satisfaction of franchisee's in optical franchise system. To accomplish this, to understand characteristics of franchisor and franchisees and fit of their characteristics should be preceded.

  • In real-time system application, the feature extraction and scoring algorithm for classification of the passive sonar target has the following problems: it requires an accurate and efficient feature extraction method because it is very difficult to distinguish the features of the propeller shaft rate (PSR) and the blade rate (BR) from the frequency spectrum in real-time, it requires a robust and effective feature scoring method because the classification database (DB) composed of extracted features is noised and incomplete, and further, it requires an easy design procedure in terms of structures and parameters. To solve these problems, an intelligent feature extraction and scoring algorithm using the evolution strategy (ES) and the fuzzy theory is proposed here. To verify the performance of the proposed algorithm, a passive sonar target classification is performed in real-time. Simulation results show that the proposed algorithm effectively solves sonar classification problems in real-time.

  • In this study a method to predict CHF(Critical heat flux) in vertical round tubes with axially non-uniform cosine heat flux distribution for water was examined. For this purpose a local condition hypothesis based CHF prediction correlation for uniform heat flux in vertical round tubes for water was developed from 9,366 CHF data points. The local correlation consisted of 4 local condition variables: the system pressure(P), tube diameter(D), mass flux of water(G), and 'true mass quality' of vapor($X_t$). The CHF data points used were collected from 13 different published sources having the following operation ranges: 1.01 ${\leq}$ P (pressure) ${\leq}$ 206.79 bar, 9.92${\leq}$ G (mass flux) ${\leq}$ 18,619.39 $kg/m^2s$, 0.00102 ${\leq}$ D(diameter) ${\leq}$ 0.04468 m, 0.0254${\leq}$ L (length) ${\leq}$ 4.966 m, 0.11 ${\leq}$ qc (CHF) ${\leq}$ 21.41 $MVW/m^2$, and -0.87 ${\leq}X_c$ (exit qualities) ${\leq}$ 1.58. The result of this work showed that a uniform CHF correlation can be easily extended to predict CHF in axially non-uniform heat flux heater. In addition, the location of the CHF in axially non-uniform tube can also be determined. The local uniform correlation predicted CHF in tubes with axially cosine heat flux profile within the root mean square error of 12.42% and average error of 1.06% for 297 CHF data points collected from 5 different published sources.

  • We used polymers of alternating cationic and anionic nature to build up shells on fiber surfaces, strengthen the worn-out fibers and improve paper properties made from such fibers. OCC and ONP pulps were either dipped or salted out in the cationic polyallylamine, polyacrylamide and starch solutions. After centrifugal drying, these were followed by treatments in anionic polyacrylic acid, poly-acrylamide, and starch solutions, respectively. The shell-enhanced fibers were formed into handsheets and their physical properties evaluated. The results show that building multiple shells on worn-out fiber surfaces can strengthen the fibers and paper. The simpler and more practical impregnation-centrifuging treatment provided the desired effects, whereas salting out the polymers produced somewhat superior fibers. The latter process, were impractical, however. The first pair of polymeric shells imparted marked strength improvement, whereas later layers had diminishing efficacies. Overall, the methods can improve fiber quality, attaining paper strength requirements without resorting to expensive measures. Alternate cationic polymer and filler powders were also deposited on fiber surface based on the micriparticle system in an anticipation of stiffness gains. Platy minerals, such as montmorillonite, bentonite, sericite, clay and talc were added following cationic PAM. After dewatering of polymer-pigment shelled fiber of one to 3 pairs of layers, handsheets either calendered or uncalendered were evaluated. The results indicate that regardless of calendaring, stiffness of the handsheets did not improve appreciably while certain other strength properties showed gains. We also attempted the novel starch gel filler addition method wherein tapioca starch and filers (PCC, sericite or clay) were mixed at high solids content of 50% and cooked until gelatinized. The filled handsheets were dried under various conditions and then tested for their properties. Improvements in strengths of modified filled paper were observed.

  • In this paper, we proposed a recognition system for resident registration cards using ART-1 and PCA algorithm. To extract registration numbers and issue date, Sobel mask and median filter are applied first and noise removal follows. From the noise-removed image, horizontal smearing is used to extract the regions, which are binarized with recursive binarization algorithm. After that vortical smearing is applied to restore corrupted lesions, which are mainly due to the horizontal smearing. from the restored image, areas of individual codes are extracted using 4-directional edge following algorithm and face area is extracted by the morphologic characteristics of a registration card. Extracted codes are recognized using ART-1 algorithm and PCA algorithm is used to verify the face. When the proposed method was applied to 25 real registration card images, 323 characters from 325 registration numbers and 166 characters from 167 issue date numbers, were correctly recognized. The verification test with 25 forged images showed that the proposed verification algorithm is robust to detect forgery.

  • This article reports on the analysis of the patterns and frequency of recurrences of substantiated instances of maltreatment in the Child Protective System (CPS). The data was collected from 2012 to 2014 by the CPS. Five-thousand-five-hundred-forty-two cases were substantiated in 2012 and then 323 cases were exposed recurrence during that time. Most recurrence families experienced only one recurrence. Results from survival analyses instances indicated that risk of recurrence was greatest during the first one month following a report. The prior CPS report, multiple type of abuse, physical abuse, and services type was linked the pattern of recurrence of maltreatment. Also, victim's age and the number of problematic behavior, perpetrator's stress and social isolation, intra family member as perpetrator, prior CPS report, and the number of reports was linked recurrence.
