The purpose of this study is to analyze the different human book programs operated by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education and from this analysis, propose systematic and efficient ways to operate human book programs in libraries. In order to accomplish these objectives, we analyzed the case studies of the human book programs run by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education from 2015 to 2017. As a result, participating readers were shown to be satisfied with the human book program overall and wanted to continue the program respectively. I personally found that I was able to meet with people involved with human books in various fields and could expand the time of conversation with them. Results of these conversations further suggest the positive feasibility of running a human book program in a library. The results of this study will help in the planning and operation of human book programs in any library.

The purpose of this study was to develop a competency-based continuing professional development (CPD) model using the National Competency Standards (NCS)-Library & Information Management. This study specifically examined various competency standards for librarians developed in and out of the country, conducted a survey research and focused group interviews to obtain professional librarians' needs for continuing education and their opinions on the NCS for library professions. It analyzed the contents of the NCS elements and mapped with elements in the five other competency standards for library and information professions. It also scrutinized the current training programs at the National Library of Korea in order to identify their strengths and weaknesses. The results of the study informed the areas to enhance the current NCS by identifying underdeveloped competencies and identified the course contents that should be developed with priorities. The study also developed a modified National Competency Standards for Continuing Professional Development (NCS-CPD). Continuing education institutions can utilize this scheme as a useful guideline to develop balanced continuing professional development curriculums for the practitioners working in various library and information centers.

This research provides an empirical analysis of the academic libraries' operating performance in Seoul, Korea. This study aims to find the key variables and the impacts of each variables on the operating performance of the academic library to attain competitiveness and long-term conditions for enhancing customer satisfaction. Specifically, this research focuses on the library's circulation service performance. The author try to analyze the relationship between the characteristics of the library (space, number of employees, number of books, budget) and the circulation performance. Korea Libraries Association have published yearly-book on the Korean library's circumstances and statistics. Yearly-book contains the data about the spaces, number of books, number of workers, the library's budget scales and other unique elements. This study finds that the circulation performance of books is positively related with the size of physical space, number of books holdings, and budgets (hypothesis 1, 3 and 4 accepted). This study demonstrate that the characteristic elements of academic library can be influential factor of the library performance.

This study aims to investigate and analyze the current status of book curation operation in elementary school libraries in Busan and the perception of librarians, and then to propose a plan to activate book curation in school libraries. A list of 304 school libraries in the Busan area was secured using the current status of school libraries in the 2021 National Library Statistical System. And then after selecting 121 school libraries with librarians, 83 schools that decided to participate in the survey were selected as final research subjects. Based on the current status of book curation operation and the results of the librarian's perception survey, the following are proposed as a way to activate the book curation of the school library: 1) expansion and provision of specialized formal education on book curation, 2) development and dissemination of materials related to the operation of school library book curation, 3) continuous efforts of librarians to strengthen the capacity for book curation, 4) between school library librarians collaboration and information sharing.

Quality of the library service, because it is based on the subjective meaning of the user for a particular service, depending on the individual expectation level, can be divided between satisfaction and dissatisfaction. Therefore, library services that are performed in public libraries also ultimately assessment of library services may influence based on the expected value of the user. This study is a satisfaction survey of library services to the public library of Goyang. Overall satisfaction of Public Library of Goyang in this study are in the following orders: 1) facility, 2) cultural programs and courses, 3) librarian kindness, 4) collections. To understand the specific meaning of each preference, it was analyzed in the followings: 1) the expectation level to the library space, 2) expectation level to librarians, 3) new service the users desire, 4) service the users want, etc. by age and occupation. As the age of the user increases, the demand for traditional library usage increased. In addition, services that utilize the same library external resources and utilization of external lecturer is like finding employment and art courses, expectation level of users such as reading course to utilize library resources was the highest.

Service design is a process and methodology for innovating or creating service. This study analyzed library case that applied service design method to library service innovation and creation. The object of this case studies include 7 library such as Copenhagen's municipal library, State Library of Victoria, Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh, Georgia institute of technology library, North carolina state university library. This study analyzed separately to service design requirements, stake-holders, period, process, tools, result and main feature. The implications obtained through this case study are as follows: (1) The design of the library service are focused on user-centered services, future service creation. (2) The service design for library is designed by the collaboration of all stake-holder. (3) From the point of view of period, the service design is continuous, and it has a nature of the project. (4) The service design in library focus on user experience, processes and prototypes development and application. (5) The service design in library are applied to the new tool such as blue print, customer journey map, touch-point, shadow, persona. (6) The purpose of the service design in library is improved and created services, and is has holistic approach.

This study aims to examine the current status of managing elementary school libraries in Busan and suggest the ways to improve it with the viewpoint of 'the five laws of library science'. The scope of study was set as the elementary school libraries in Busan, and the operation status of 304 elementary school libraries was analyzed. And for in-depth investigation, D elementary school library was examined as a case. The operation status of elementary school libraries in Busan was analyzed with the analysis elements; existence of school library, placement of teacher librarian, library collection, annual use, budget, and library seats for 6 years from 2016 to 2021. As a result, especially the placement rate of full-time teacher librarians was only 10.5%, indicating that the problem of manpower shortage was serious. As case study, the current state of managing D elementary school library was deeply investigated with perspectives of the first law and the third law of library science among Ranganathan's five laws of library science. With the first law, the investigation was divided into the aspects of open-shelf system, library location, library hours, furniture, and staff. With the third law, the investigation was done as the aspects of shelf arrangement, catalog, extended service, book selection. Especially, books with more than 50 copies for the program of reading one book each semester accounted for 4.8% of the total collection, showing the problem of unbalanced collection. As the result of this study, 'expanding the placement of teacher librarians', 'making better reading environment through remodeling', and 'balanced collection development' were suggested as the ways of developing school libraries.

This study aimed to identify the problems by analyzing the actual condition based on the legal requirements among Saemaul mini-libraries in Busan Metropolitan City. The results are like these. There were 154 Saemaul mini-Libraries. Of them, the rate of Small-Libraries which satisfied the requirements of a municipal library to the Library Act was 0%(0) in part of building floor space, 1%(1) in part of a reading room, 40%(59) in part of the data in a library and 31%(45) in the number of books to be supplemented per year. Mini-library which satisfied as the requirements for a small-scale public library was 37%(58) in part of the floor space, 66%(101) in part of a reading room, and 73%(112) in part of data in a library. 50%(77) of the mini-library was open more than 5 days per week. 52% (80) Mini-libraries was open for more than 5 hours per day. mini-library with permanent professionals(librarians) was only 1%(2). Mini-libraries of 99%(152) were non-professional workers(no librarians). For the average budget per year, 81%(127) spent less than 10 million won. 5%(5) received government subsidies. The mini-library of 74%(114) spent less than 5 million won on average for purchasing materials. Most of mini-libraries didn't meet the requirements of small-scale libraries to be private libraries or public libraries. It was also found that mini-libraries had various features on the location.

The purpose of this study is to examine the current status of university library operation through the five laws of library science and suggest ways to improve it. To this end, the operation status of four national and public university libraries was analyzed with the scope of the study as the Busan area. Furthermore, for an in-depth investigation, the P University library in Busan was examined as a case. The operation status of national and public university libraries in the Busan region was analyzed by dividing them into the categories of university library collection materials, facilities, staff, material purchase costs, and users from 2018 to 2022. In particular, there was a decrease in users and a shortage of librarians due to COVID-19. In the case study, the operation status of P University library was investigated focusing on the first and fifth laws of Ranganathan's five laws of library science. In the first law, the study was conducted on the aspects of access to and use of the collection, library location, usage time and book lending, and staff. In the fifth law, the investigation was divided into service improvement aspects according to changes in digital technology of P University library and library environment improvement aspects according to changes in user characteristics. As a result of the study, 'establishment of library space composition strategy', 'establishment of blue ocean strategy', and 'expansion of recruitment and deployment of librarians' were suggested as improvement plans.

As functions of public library has become diversified, proper environment color plan enhancing a supporting environment of user based on a function of public library should be achieved by utilizing space chromatics which is a psychological environmental factor. Therefore, public library's color environment of each space functions should be understood and the foundation of color plan enhancing supporting environment of user should also be established under the premise that public library color environment which supports integrated functions to every local residents by meeting functional roles of library. As functions of public library expands, this study has its purpose to analyze color environment characteristics by mainly focusing on library of Busan region to study color environment supporting function of each space. Through a literature research, function and role of color, environment color have considered, and through a preceding research analysis on public library's present condition analysis and tendency of library color preference, theoretical background on library color environment has deducted. By researching present condition of environment color application at 9 public libraries located at Busan, the environment color characteristics of library has deducted through an image adjective analysis using color system, coloration analysis, IRI(Image Research Institute) color image scale. This study can be provided as a reference data for environment color plan based on spatial function to enhance supporting environment of public library user, and it is expected to utilize in the library facility plan which has been diversified.
