  • The use of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) have been regarded as a promising technique in both military and civilian applications. Nevertheless, due to the lack of relevant and regulations and laws, the misuse of illegal drones poses a serious threat to social security. In this paper, aiming at deriving the three-dimension optimal surveillance trajectories for group monitoring drones, we develop a group trajectory planner based on the particle swarm optimization and updating mechanism. Together, to evaluate the trajectories generated by proposed trajectory planner, we propose a group-objectives fitness function in accordance with energy consumption, flight risk. The simulation results validate that the group trajectories generated by proposed trajectory planner can preferentially visit important areas while obtaining low energy consumption and minimum flying risk value in various practical situations.

  • This paper describes a research result of a external shape optimization study to maximize the range of the guided missile with canards and tailfins in atmospheric flight. For this purpose, the external shape optimization program which can enhance the range of a missile was developed, incorporated with the trajectory analysis and the optimization technique. In the trajectory analysis part, Missile DATCOM which utilizes the semi-empirical method was directly connected to the trajectory code to supply the aerodynamic coefficients efficiently at every time step. In the gliding flight trajectory after apogee, a maximum $C_L/C_D$ trim condition calculation module was attached under the assumption of the missile continuously flying at maximum $C_L/C_D$ condition. In the optimization part, a Response Surface Method(RSM) was adopted to reduce the computing time.

  • The flight trajectory of a boomerang is predicted with the momentum theory (actuating disk theory) and the blade element method generally used as tools to analyze in the rotary-wing aerodynamics. Boomerangs made by students are actually compared with the computational results, utilized to get the physical intuition. The transition from helicopter mode to autogyro mode with the gyroscopic precession is observed in numerical analysis and experiment like a 'flying rotor' after the boomerang taking off. The whole system is shown to be highly nonlinear and very sensitive to the initial conditions. Various flight loci may be obtained if we change the parameters.

  • This paper implements and integrates algorithms for terrain following of UCAVs (Unmanned Combat Aerial Vehicles): trajectory generation, guidance, and navigation. Terrain following is very important for UCAVs because they perform very dangerous missions such as Suppression of Enemy Air Defences while the terrain following can improve the survivability of UCAVs against from the air defence systems of the enemy. To deal with the GPS jamming, terrain referenced navigation based on nonlinear filter is chosen. For the trajectory generation, Voronoi diagram is adopted to generate horizontal plane path to avoid the air defense system. Cubic spline method is used to generate vertical plane path to prevent collisions with ground while flying sufficiently close to surface. Follow-the-Carrot and pure pursuit tracking methods, which are look-ahead point based guidance algorithms, are applied for the guidance. Numerical simulation is performed to verify the performance of the integrated terrain following algorithm.

  • The point of impact, the shot group, and the flight traces depend on the combination of unique features which decide moving traces of the arrow (paradox of the archer, length of the arrow shaft, weight, angle of the feather, and spline of the arrow shaft). The more dense the impact points in the shot group and the earlier elimination of paradox of the archer, the higher assessment is given for the product. However, there is no way to objectively assess the efficiency and quality of the arrow, and there is no numeric data to be used as the basis for comparison with other products. Although capturing the images of flying arrow using a high-speed motion picture camera is possible, we are limited to observation from specific view angle only. Hence, the criteria for efficiency and quality assessment are mostly based on subjective opinions of experts or hunters, or review on consumers' remarks. In this paper, we propose a hardware composition that are based on three detection frames consisting of line lasers and photo diode arrays without the high-speed motion picture camera. Predicated on measured coordinates data, a nobel method for the archer's paradox measurement, a key parameter that determine the arrow's trajectory, and corresponding numerical analysis model is proposed.

  • A three dimension(3D) link analysis is peformed considering multipath effects caused by a reflected signal and the difference angle between the antenna bore-sight and Line-Of-Sight(LOS). In addition, a direction of a receive antenna is determined for a receiver to get maximum signal strength in a telemetry situation. For a fixed receive antenna, the angle is determined to maximize the average Carrier to Noise Ratio(CNR) over the interested part of a trajectory. For a tracking antenna, the angle at every position is selected to give maximum CNR or to direct the boresight to the flying projectile.

  • In this paper, we propose a system and an intuitive interface that can create an athletic scene among athletes. We allow you to enter motion as if you were playing a game, so that the user's action becomes the player's action. The user can take various actions in front of the motion sensor and control the object flying to him. When a user specifies an opponent to pass or attack, and takes appropriate action in front of the motion sensor, the movement trajectory of the object is automatically generated by the physical optimization technique in accordance with the motion. In this way, you can create scenes where multiple players play together in a virtual environment. The method of this paper will be very useful for rapid prototyping for cinematic trailers of based on athletics games or animations.

  • It is required to design the RF link with sufficiently stable signal margin to minimize bit errors and improve the quality of received data in the telemetry system modulated digitally like PCM/FM. In case of the vehicle flying at a high speed, the variation of the gain pattern between transmitting and receiving antenna and the fee space loss due to flight distance cause the fluctuation of link. In this paper, KSR(Korea Sounding Rocket)- III, the first domestic liquid rocket which was successfully launched in Nov. 2002 is introduced. The SNR(signal-to-noise ratio) variation of the telemetry signal which was measured at S-band ground station, the one which was simulated considering the flight trajectory, and the attitude variation such as roll, pitch and yaw are compared, analyzed, and agree very well. In addition, two virtual flying situations are simulated and evaluated-only one antenna is equipped in one case, and rocket is roll-free in the other.

  • In conventional method, flight model is discribed to differential equation by linealization of nonlinear object motion equation. As state equation from differential equation of moving object, the controller is designed by transfer functions of each module under discrimination of stability criteria. But this conventional method is designed under limitation of nonlinearity from object's shape and speed. In other word, The greater part of guidance/navigation system was satisfied with the result of good performance for normal figure of flight object, not sudden changed flight condition, not high speed. But it is not able to give full play to its ability on flight object which has abnormal figure, sudden changeable motion, high speed. Therefore, in this paper was presented performance analysis of load control model for navigation/guidance system on flying object being uncertainty, non-linear like abnormal figure, sudden changeable motion, high speed and is presented method of trajectory control(controllability) ahead of controllability and stability to achieve flight mission. In other word, this paper shows the first step of Min-design method and flight control model.

  • Chang'e-3 consisting of a lunar lander and exploration rover was launched on December 1, 2013 aboard a Long March 3B rocket flying from Xichang space launch center. Chang'e-3 was inserted into the lunar orbit after about a 5-day transit to the Moon and landed on the targeted landing site after orbiting around the Moon for 8 days. The successful landing of the Chang'e-3 gives a lot of help to analyze the future needs of the subsystem technologies and to figure out the trajectory from launch to lunar landing as well as operation sequences in the development of Korean lunar exploration is scheduled. Therefore, the configuration and analysis of overall mission of Chang'e-3 is performed based on the public information from the press and website. As a result, overall mission trajectory is reconstructed by solving boundary condition and then estimating control variable. Visibility status and eclipse status also analyzes so communication and power charge condition is as good as to operate lunar lander. Mass budget of the lander is derived using ${\Delta}V$ according to specific impulse.
